rom update - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I am using Goldeneye rom dated on september 18. I can see there is an update for this rom.
In this case, do I need to wipe data/cache again to install the latest rom version?
Thank you.

The Goldeneye OP tells you exactly how to accomplish what you want to do.

It should be stated in the OP, if you have to do a full wipe. A full wipe is always recommended, you can always dirty flash, and if you have issue, wipe fully and the re flash the rom

Thank you! ill go look into OP
Edit: It doesnt say about current user using Goldeneye Rom. All it says is "Full wipe only! no dirty flash".
Does it mean current Goldeneye users need to full wipe again?

Can't manage to boot.

I was going to try out the 4.3 alpha for Pac-Rom. I was on TWRP and I wiped and flashed and rebooted, and it continued to bootloop for some reason. I then tried to go to recovery, which wouldn't boot, so it was stuck on the teamwin logo indefinitely. I flashed CWM via Odin, and now I can access recovery. I tried wiping and flashing the previous ROM I had (the latest release version of Pac-Rom), still bootlooping. I tried using a wipe all zip, flashed a different ROM, same issue. Please help.

Will this wipe data/media? I have stuff on there I'd like to save. If it does, how can I get it to my computer? Mounting through CWM doesn't do anything for some reason.

Awesome, thanks!
I tried a different version of TWRP but it had the same issue. I'll just wait to flash this after it has downloaded.

No luck.
I'll try a full wipe Odin flash. I discovered I had already backed up the files I needed from the internal SD.
Edit: I got it working! I flashed stock MDC. Not sure why that worked but not MF9. Now I can flash MF9 I guess.

[Q] Can't run custom rom

Alright ive kinda hit a wall im not sure what i can do i can't seem to get my s4 to flash to any custom roms. just picked it up it came with the latest MF9, ive followed the instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257101 to get root access and to install twrp. i can get it all to install just fine and have verified that i have root access. but once i flash a custom rom ie. CM 10.1 or even Slim mod either through goomanager it will say it installs successfully but once it reboots the new rom splash screen shows up and just sits there forever spinning and it never goes any further.
ive even restored my device to factory and unrooted the device and im still unable to get any roms to load up. am i missing anything that someone might be able to point out
heres the steps ive tried or gone thru
1. CF-autoroot via odin
2. install Twrp or CWM either thru odin or their manager aps
3. copy rom and gapps to sd card
4. boot to recovery and try to install
5. get stuck at splash screen!!!!
You probably need to install a compatible kernel. If the Rom doesn't include one that's the problem.

If you want a good aosp rom try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43120823 it is very stable and awsome except there aren't much customization options update your recovery first then wipe data, system, and cache then flash the rom. Use this as a backup rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357471

by updating you are meaning you have already flashed the rom in your GT-I9505. Well, there is always the good old manual way and if your 4.3 ver you can just do the ota.
By manual i mean download the latest stable/nightly release, flash the kernel, install the zip from recovery and wipe according to instructed from the rom dev post.

Random FCs when flash ROM

Hi Samer !I really like your ROM and I flashed it follow your tutorial. But when I first power on the device it FCs many times .Looks like Knox lead to it.I flashed wanamlite 3.3 and phoenix rom and many other 4.3 ROMs but never popup this.Only Arrow ROM 9.0.0 has the same problem.Could u tell me what makes it happened?thx!(I never flashed stock 4.3 firmware via Odin)
