Helo,
I've got a big proplem, my GT540 doesn't boot anymore it always freezes when the LG sign appears. I have this proplem since I'd tried to change the statusbar font into whiteby changing the services.jar. Hardreset and KDZ Updater aren't working. And I also tried to change the new services.jar to the old with adb but I don't get root permissions.
My phone runs with 2.1 Eclair.
Thanks for your help,
Lucas
Wait, arent the status bar white by defoult ?
No i don't mean the bar I mean the clock, but do you have any ideas to solve my proplem?
Do The Hard Reset With Press The
Vol Up + Search Key (on the right side of the phome) + home button
When I Trie to do the hardreset it Happens nothing! Is there no other possibillity to reset?
You could try fresh install with KDZ updater, that worked for me when I broked the radio and my network didn't worked. If you have troubles geting in to download mode you could try removing the battery and press volume up + camera + power button Just be carefull! Good luck

I tried this too, but it crashed always after I choose the kdz file
Here is the log file of KDZ Updater, rename it to Fail.log

OK, you could try this :
If you have problems with KDZ_FW_UPD - Download and install from Microsoft two files "MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser" and "VisualC Redist"
1 LG_Android_Driver Ver 1.0 must be installed
2 In the Device Manager disable LGE Android USB Modem
3 Run Windows Enabler (on Windows 7 as administrator) and left click on the icon in System tray ( it should be ON )
4 Run "KDZ_FW_UPD.exe" (on Windows 7 as administrator)
5 In the "Type" select "3GQCT", then choose the firmware file
6 Expand the window of the KZD flasher ( more options will emerge )
7 In the "PhoneMode" section choose "CS_EMERGENCY"
DIAG - standard flashing mode of ON state
EMERGENCY - in extreme cases!
CS_EMERGENCY - the same thing, CS - crash systems
8 Click "Start update" will process the firmware
You could also disable your anti virus and use only the back USB ports of your PC. Good luck !
Oh THANKS! I love you guy, I thought I killed my brand new mobile!

For anyone with a D802 who's having trouble flashing the TOT file using LG's FlashTool and getting an error like the screenshot attached below, download this DLL and use it. The DLL I've attached below is used for the Korean F320. The other DLLs provided in other tutorials don't work hence getting errors while trying to flash the TOT file. I had my G2 bricked with no recovery, ADB sideload or fastboot and had my screen flashing with a security boot error. Also tried LG's firmware recovery but suddenly stopped at 48%
I lost all hope when every solution failed. I only had Download Mode available. I decided to try out the DLL for the F320 in FlashTool and my G2 finally came back to life!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. In Windows 7, go to start, right click Computer and choose 'Manager'------Windows 8? right click the Windows logo at the bottom left corner and choose 'Device Manager'
2. Assuming your phone is in download mode and connected to the pc by USB, open 'Ports (COM & LPT)' and you should see
'LGE AndroidNet USB serial port(COMX)'
3. Right click on 'LGE AndroidNet USB serial port(COMX)' and go to 'properties'
4. Click on the 'Port Settings' tab and click 'advanced'. Another window will pop up, here, choose 'COM Port Number' from COMX to 'COM41' and click OK and OK again.
It should now look like this

6. Instal LG FlashTool: https://app.box.com/s/h39upgmtvgzvjrp52clt
7. Once you've installed the FlashTool, right click it and click on 'Open File Location'. Replace the MegaLock.DLL with this one: https://app.box.com/s/97r8r6cpl7qhq3p5vhwi
8: Choose and download a .TOT file only! Do not download and use a .KDZ, it will not work! : http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=X...+G2/Stock/
9. Download this .DLL file: https://app.box.com/s/v9hmityntrc275js5ran
10. Put the downloaded .DLL and .TOT files in the Desktop.
11. Run LG FlashTool as Admin
12. Choose the .DLL and .TOT and click OK
14. Connect your phone and then click on the arrow on the top left corner of the FlashTool. Wait until it shows 'Ready'
15. When FlashTool shows 'Ready' disconnect and then connect your phone.
16. It should now start flashing. Wait until FlashTool shows 100% and your phone will come back to life.
Report back if it worked.
Any issues, please leave a screenshot and detailed explanation.

Open D802 tot in hexeditor. Do search for '802'...first instance you find should be the full model number followed by the software version. Change only the first instance of model from 802 to 855 since that's what flash tools thinks your phone is right now due to the ported rom you flashed. It should then bypass the model check and flash.
i did that method.now i cant go into download mode i dont have custom recovery either,im stuck at logo with led light,my screen only showing white lines(some other colors) my pc is detecting phone while it is stuck on logo..i have d802,what can is do now
i dont have fastboot nor adb working..
Better solution
First I should note that I'm using the LG G2 D802 32GB model, I have the 4.4.2 KitKat stock ROM, I have root, but I haven't installed a custom recovery.
I accidentally changed the permissions on the build.prop file in the system folder, and after reboot, my phone was stuck in a boot loop.
I searched a lot online for a good fix that wouldn't involve losing the information and apps that I have installed on it. And I managed to do it .
I believe this is a better solution than what the OP suggests, and is more user-friendly.
So, in case your LG G2 is stuck in a boot loop with LED flashing green-cyan:
=========================================================
1. Enter Download mode:
A. Turn off your LG G2 completely, if possible. If not, try to time yourself by pressing & holding the power button on the back and then immediately after it turns off and back on again:
B. Hold Volume Up + Insert a microUSB cable in to your phone (the other end should already be attached to your PC).
You should see a blue rectangle, and then the phone will display that it's waiting for a FW update with 0% on the bar.
2. Download & Install the official "LG Mobile Support Tool". The actual filename is B2CAppSetup.exe (256KB).
Run it (there should be a shortcut on the desktop) but give it time, as this app is very slow to load even on a fast machine.
3. Click Options -> Upgrade Recovery. Wait after pressing the button, app is very slow!!!
4. Sit back and relax until it's done (around 10-15 minutes).
In this step, it downloads the latest official KDZ file directly from LG (around 2GB), and re-installs it on your phone.
5. Phone should boot normally with all your settings intact.
6. Note: Closing the "LG Mobile Support Tool" also takes a bit of time, and might even give an error that "the application has stopped working".
This is normal and you can safely ignore it. Simply close the error window and be done with it.
7. You will need to root your phone again using ioRoot (latest version dated 2014-06-17).

Hi! Thank you for such a detailed walkthrough. However, my AT&T LG G2 D800 doesn't go past the LG Logo, though, I'm able to enter Recovery Mode and Download Mode. I just want to ask, is there any way to know my mobile's accurate Serial Number and Model Number without entering into Settings Mode since I cannot turn on my device? Upgrade Recovery option needs it. Thank you!

Not sure what you mean by "Upgrade Recovery option needs it", but if you have the original retail box, there's a sticker on it with the IMEI and exact model number. There might be an option to get this info from the phone itself in one of the recovery/download/whatever modes, but I haven't tried.
@ericgl: Thank you for the response! LG Support Tool requires you to enter either Model Number and Serial Number of your device or the IMEI Number. And since I bought a used phone (without box), I couldn't find the IMEI Number anywhere. Anyways, I opened up the phone's back cover and it was there. I ended up fixing my device using OP's tutorial since LG Support Tool keeps on crashing on Windows 7 32-bit. Still, huge thanks for the method!
any help will be much appreciated
my problem is i cannot go into recovery mode, i guess i flashed a wrong custom recovery before and the phone just boots and says verizon but never goes pass this point. i am not using a verizon version though, i am using lg g2 802, my other problem is i do not know which firmwares to use because they are from different countries and all that, some be it 802a 802b and all that, so how can i tell which one is for my phone? i have the imei number and i bought the phone second hand still broken and trying to fix it myself. is there any universal firmware for lg g2 802? working on all phones?

Did this and worked, It took 40 minutes the complete process but got my device back. Thanks
Hello guys, long time lurker here. I have a Verizon LG G2 (VS980). I had Mal rom and I wanted CM11. Don't remeber what version of TWRP I had but I made a nandroid backup. Tried to install and didn't work and I did some other stuff (don't remember). Phone was bricked.
I could get to the restore screen (power & vol -), i'd press power twice and it would just go to a black sceen. I would try vol+ & usb and it took me to a dos looking screen and something about fastboot. I fixed that one by "nuking my laf".
Now I can get to the download screen. It says FIRMWARE UPDATE with arrows and progress bar. in the bottom box it says B0 and ROOTED.
My device manager under PORTS says "LGE AndroidNet for VZW USB Serial Port (COM41). Just above it it says "Communications Port (COM42).
I did the KDZ method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Downloaded the Verizon VS98024A_11.kdz file and 3 other files. I ran LGFlashTool2014 as administrator and followed instruction word for word. I picked CSE Flash. After I select country and language LG Mobile Support Tool pops up and does some stuff, look good at this point BUT during "S/W Upgrade is in progress 4%" it says my phone disconnected.
My phone has COM41 in green with 9% progress and also this in the bottom box:
U VUSER 526.2 AS5.1 B41 UHS
S U VS980 4G 04.2.2 Hrev_11
VS98012B
VS98024B
ROOTED
I tried a different USB port and it gets to 9% on the phone and status bar restarts, gets to 9% and restarts. LGMS Tool says "Upgrade stopped due to error"
I did try the TOT method. No matter what file I download when I extract it says "checksum error file is corrupt"
I need to fix this or the Cpt will kill me since my phone is so vital to work. Please help me, its been 3 days without it.
Either getting it back to stock or somehow getting twrp on it to restore to nandroid would be great. anything to make it work again
Download the 11A *.zip from this thread, and make sure to check the MD5 of the extracted *.tot.

Hi all, looking for advice, thanks in advance.
I'm a noob so bear with me with the terminology
I have tried this method - [FIX] NO Recovery mode, No download mode, after OTA on rooted LG G2 - on my LG G2 after a failed attempt to install the CloudyG3 Custom Rom. It restored and installed TWRP and couldn't boot to anything else. I did not have any files on the the phone's internal memory such as a ROM ready to flash.
...a few confusing steps trying to put files on the phone later (which I can't recall now ) I restarted the phone and now it simply became stuck at the LG logo. It is able to go into Download Mode (photo attached) but is different than before which looked like a two arrows in a circle. It does not respond to the 'LG Support Tool, UpTestEX and KDZ file' method. It starts downloading and installing the firmware then stalls at 15% everytime.
So I returned to - [FIX] NO Recovery mode, No download mode, after OTA on rooted LG G2 - using Ubuntu to restore the imgs and get TWRP back at least. Instead of seeing a large list of paths like before:
/dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5
/dev/sdb1 /dev/sdb2 /dev/sdb3 /dev/sdb4
/dev/sdb5 .......... /dev/sdb36
Click to collapse
All I see now is just:
/dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5

I don't what else to do now, just holding onto the fact my phone isn't a complete brick! Any solution would be appreciated!

Thanks for replying so far guys.
azher98: right now i cannot access TWRP. It can only boot into Download Mode, or just stays at the 'LG G2 logo' screen.
jelly'K: Whenever I plug it into Windows using USB, it does not recognise it as removable storage or device. No system notifications, no pop-up dialogs and it isn't available in Windows Explorer.

it can boot into Download mode so you can flash .kdz file !
Jelly'K: That's the problem I try to but my computer doesn't recognise it under 'Device Manager'.
I tried installing the drivers through the LG Tools, but nothing again.
When I start up the LG Support Tool to select the KDZ file (with correct settings) it starts to verify the phone and then stops around 15% and an error message comes up saying the phone is not connected.
This is where it should seem easy to fix but not the case!
Folks,
I went through hell the other day trying to find how to repair my Verizon VZ 980. It was rooted and had a TWRP recovery. I was trying to reboot the Exposed Installer, which then would not reboot (as the software warns can happen), in fact the phone would not boot at all, even for a total factory reset from the keys on the back of the phone. Even though there are a few threads on this site which one can use to work the tot or kdz methods to bring a bricked phone back to life, in actuality, I found that, for some reason, I couldn't get the zips containing the firmware or the flash tool to download. It is clearly important to use the appropriate operating system along with the Lg-flash tool-2014. **They exist else ware on Google. Of course the Lg Mobile drivers have to be loaded and the Lg mobile support tool has to be accessible. Preferably have all of these in one folder on the pc desktop. My suggestion is to Google the following: VS98024A_11.kdz (the correct firmware and will download unzipped-you cannot change the suffix on the tot to kdz if you download the tot), the LG+Flash+tool+2014 and finally the LGMobile Support tool. The Flash Tool is self explanatory, similar to Samsung's Odin. and allows you to look up the firmware you have, finds it, and loads it to the appropriate box when you click on the folder icon and locate the downloaded items on the pc. The Flash Tool will only recognize the kdz firmware and is labeled in Korean, but ignore as the firmware will boot English. Turn the phone off completely, and put in download mode, by holding the vol. down and connecting to LG usb cable, Click on cse flash on the Flash Tool for a total redo of the phone. Just keep OKing or starting what ever pops up thereafter. This works, with great relief, but follow the process slowly along and never disconnect the usb plug until all has loaded and you see the message to exit the program.
