Hi all, I just recently started using the G2 and was wondering how we can add shortcuts to activities like we can on any other launcher (i.e. like activities in tasker etc)
Thanks

[Q] Adding Shortcuts on MIUI

I'm running the RoyalMIUI ROM on my phone. While moving my apps between screens, I manage to drop one of them on the launcher itself, deleting my google maps shortcut. My question is how do I get that back? The option to add a messaging shortcut is not present in the editing mode and since this is my first time trying out MIUI I am not that familiar with it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

[Q] MIUI home screen app shortcut

Hi everyone,
I am using the HD2_NDT_MIUI_GINGER_DEVELOPMENT_V21.1 rom.
I was reorganizing my apps and seemed to drag & drop an icon off the screen and it has disappeared. How can I add an application shortcut to my home screen again? I am specifically looking for the MIUI camera application.
Thanks!

Activity Shortcuts

Just a cool feature that I've finally used (in Apex Launcher, but also found on other launchers like LauncherPro) is the use of Activity shortcuts.
Say you create a shortcut on a homescreen, you click Activities, and then you get a list of all apps. You can then open up each app and select an activity within these apps.
I just created one that gives me battery stats by using an activity that was in the Settings app.

[Q] Homescreen App Folder like functionality in widget?

Hi all, I am trying to develop a widget that works similar to the App Folder that comes standard with android. The functionality is that you can drag and drop apps into a folder so that your homescreen is a bit more organized. Is it possible to create a widget that can accept a drop of another application?
I have done a lot of searching on google and have come up short. Any help is appreciated.

AFAIK, there's no way of doing this except with building your own home screen launcher since (most) Android launchers move widgets out of the way if you drag a shortcut on them (JB+) and do not pass any event or call to the widget (all versions).
You can, however, create that Widget and in the setup screen show a check list with all apps so the user can choose there which apps they want in the folder.

That's a good idea. :good:
Yeah, as far as I know there is no way to do this, too.
Thanks guys. I do currently have an app Chooser available to populate my current widget. I was just looking for a way to make it easier to add apps to the widget.
After searching around and trying different things I figured it wasn't possible but never found any info good or bad so I figured I would ask the experts.
Thanks again for your help! :good:

How do you add a settings widget shortcut?

How do you add a settings shortcut for battery and wifi manager on the home screen? I've been scouring through the widgets and nothing seems to appear, normally with all other phones a "settings" widget is available and you get to choose which settings you want a link to.
Thanks

i was using the galaxy note ii for a while and loved settings widget/shortcut. i moved on to the galaxy note 3 on a different carrier. i also have sm-n9005. both note 3s do not have the settings widget. it is frustrating. what i recommend is installing action launcher by chris lacy. it will add 2 widgets to the widget launcher/menu. choose the activities widget. the list of apps and settings that populates is more extensive than the note ii's version. there you can add bluetooth, data usage, wifi, and tethering one by one. after creating all the shortcuts i needed, uninstalled action launcher. remember to keep touchwiz as your default launcher in the beginning of the process.
(on a side note, action launcher is great. i even purchased the pro key. however, i just don't like the way apps look in folders. in addition, 1x1 widgets do not align properly with regular app icons sometimes. as for 4 row widgets, it automatically adds margins/padding so they look more align with other same sized widgets. some 4 row widgets on touchwiz go edge to edge which is annoying. in regards to the s pen features, air command did not pop up on action. honorable mention, shutters is a great action feature. last mention, i don't use action on the note 3.)
