Today i noticed that my nexus lost gsm signal. Yestarday it was ok and i didnt change anything. So, I turned it off and then on, but it stuck. There is only nexus logo and nothing happens. I had stock android 4.3 with bootloader locked and stock recovery. I tried unlocking bootloader, flasing twrp and wipeing cache/dalvik/data but it didnt help. I even tried flashing PA, but it also stuck on boot logo. After that i tired full factory reset (system and recover) using WugFresh's toolkit, but it also didnt help. In stock recovery there is a red triangle with dead android. Do you have any idea what may be wrong?

You can try this one: Unbrick [bootloop] NEXUS 4 and flash Official 4.3 image [the easyest way]
I have already tried it, it didnt help. But i also tried 4.2.2 and it started after like 5 mins. It takes some time but it boots. But still, there is no gsm connection. I tried flashing diffrent radio but it didnt help. In settings/info there is unknown baseband and no imei. Is this possible that some hardware that is resposible for gsm is damaged?
Check your APN settings b

I bet it's not a problem with apn. When i try to search for gsm network there is an error.
Booting phone takes more than 5 minutes. It shouldnt happen on fresh system.
What is more, info in settings says that there is unknown baseband and unknown imei.
Logcat: pastebin.com/cUMbRaCt
Log above is done without sim card, but it doesnt work even if sim card is inside.
This lane is important I think:
Code:
SCREEN_STATE error: com.android.internal.telephony.CommandException: RADIO_NOT_AVAILABLE
I would try a full factory image restore with data wipe. That might help. If not... May be RMA time. Remember to use fastboot!

Hi I just met the exactly the same problem you described: woke up and found no signal there, and after a bunch of flash things I noticed that the IMEI is gone. All these happened in 1 week after I actually received the phone.
BTW, can you use WIFI and Bluetooth now? Mine is still OK, only IMEI shows 'unknown'.
Hope someone could come up with a solution.

I didnt check bluetooth, but wifi works fine. Your problem looks same as mine. It happened 2 weeks after I recieved my nexus.

I have already done full factory image restore. The problem is that there is no RMA in my country, the phone was imported from UK.

I recently faced this problem -- booted into recovery and flashed android 4.2.3, still had the issue. did a factory reset which actually wiped nada on the sdcard and as golden after that, re-rerooted and all.

Could be a motherboard problem.

If your imei is wiped you are screwed. The network won't allow you to use it. Your phone is illegal without an IMEI no. I got a Chinese one that had no number

So i rooted my nexus 4, and noticed that there is an unlocked lock thing beneath the splash screen when it boots up, didnt notice it before so i decided to unroot, using fastboot oem lock. Then when my phone started it wouldnt get any signal at all, no 3g 2g HSPA nothing. And it wont connect to wifi either. The wifi would turn on and when i try to connect to a network, it would cycle between obtaining ip adress and authenticating, but wouldnt connect. I dont know what to do? i tried factory resetting, unlocking the bootloader, locking it again, rebooting the phone countless times, but nothing would connect. I dont know whats wrong with it.
P.S. bluetooth is working fine if that makes a diffrence
Reset the radio? Although I don't see how a factory reset wouldn't have done that. *#*#4636#*#* and select reset

The unlock icon indicates a unlocked bootloader. I started seeing it in mine after unlocking, but don't have any issues as a result of that.
IAC, your lack of signal is not due to the unlocked bootloader, go ahead and do it again!
Hmm, this could be worthy of further investigation if others get it - it's exactly what would happen on Samsung devices when they lose their IMEI and Serial number. This exact scenario happened on my SGS2 before I knew I needed to back up the EFS stuff.
Hey guys. I would love some help here; recently I had my Nexus 4 lost, and found again. I called Virgin (My phone company) and cut my phone service off. Once I found it, I called and turned it back on. For about an hour it kept saying that the network could not be found, and when I tried to force it to connect in the settings, it said my sim card couldn't be used on the network. I did factory reset from the menu, but it only got worse. It than wouldn't even recognize I had a sim card. I looked online about IMEI and typed in #*06#* or whatever it was, and there was nothing there. Completely blank. I have no idea what to do, and am currently trying to flash stock rom. If it helps, I was running Paranoid Android 3.99 RC2 when I turned my phone service off. Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks.
*EDIT*: I restored to Android 4.4 using the factory image provided by Google, and I now have a IMEI number, but it still wont allow me to connect to the network.
*EDIT 2*: After doing some research on the Virgin site, I found out that there was a blacklist that your phones IMEI goes on after reporting it stolen. Basically, when I called in to get it off of it, it was never taken off. Those ****ers said it was going to cost me $150. This thread can be kept for future reference to other people, or deleted if needed. Thanks.

Thanks for the info, but I now have a IMEI number when I flashed Google's stock 4.4 image, but it still says it cant connect to the network. Any ideas?
Just restore any CWM or TWRP backup. It worked for me after i lost my imei and basband while flashing 4.4.
Nothing to do about a blacklist. Ask them again and explain the situation. Contact a consumer rights organization otherwise.

Hello guys I need your help, Yesterday I was flashing MIUI ROM for my SM-N900W8 and it was not succesful, so I tried to restore the backup I did before flashing, but the problems started when TWRP did not allowed me to restore, it said Fail... after that I installed the Stock Rom from Odin and everything went ok until I was configuring the phone and when I was willing to connect to my wifi it appeared an error "Unfortunately Remote controls stopped" and the wifi turned to grey and I was not able to use it...
I flashed another stock rom (with operator) and the same issue, searching in the web I was a little deep about knowing what was happening and I realized my Serial Number changed, My IMEI is ok, but the problem persist. I need your help about this and restoring back again my phone. Thanks a lot

I think MIUI messed my phone up too!
My phone stopped radio function. WIFI works fine, but my network isnt being picked up at all. The SIM works though. It saves and deletes contacts properly, but has no signal.
I have been scouring the internet looking for radio images and RUU's. Tried the RUU for my HTC One S, it downgraded my radio hboot...everything to an earlier stock version. Still nothing works.
it changed my device serial number into chinese characters. my phone number is displayed correctly under phone identity.
Anyone have a soloution to this??

In fact the S/N can easily be changed if your phone was rooted. But it is not relating to the wifi issue.
So you may have to try another firmware or another baseband.
Hello, first of all I want to let you know that I am not an expert but have so far been able to convert my Axon A2017 to the US A2017U version.
Big thanks [email protected] for supplying the necessary files.
I have:
-unlocked the bootloader
-rooted the phone
-flashed successfully B20
However, When I upgraded to B29, I lost TWRP and the cell radio of the phone is non-responsive. It won't even turn on. Bootloader is sill unlocked. I made phone calls on my T-mobile network when it was the origional A2017 B8 version. So I believe the bandwidths are compatible.
I have already done the following troubleshooting: (note: WIFI currently works just fine)
-My network is with T-Mobile, and I have been using a different axon A2017U for over a year with no problems.
-When I type *#*#4636#*#* and got to phone Info says, GSM Service: Radio Off, and the Turn on Radio button does nothing.
- I have tried working with every setting in this menu with no luck.
-When I insert my SIM card that is working on my current axon 7 into the converted A2017U, it is able to pick up T-Mobile network u.s. LTE, (fast.tmobile.com) and T-Mobile US (tmus). However, there are no bars because the radio is not turned on.
-When I try to search for new networks an error message saying, "network search cannot proceed when the data service is enabled disabled it?" So I disable it and nothing happens except for an error message saying "error while searching for Networks".
-In network mode I have switched to every option available, LTE/wcdma/GSM, wcdma/GSM, and GSM only with no result.
I am currently running Android version 6.0.1 on build B-29. Any help to get the radio up and running to receive phone calls would be greatly appreciated. Everything else is working except for the phone radio to send and receive phone calls.
Thanks for any Help.

I check the number with several online checks, as well as T-Mobile, and they are unable to bring up any information about the number. I imagine it got blocked or corrupted during the upgrades.
What do I do to unblock it or make it functional again?
Go to settings>About>Status and check your IMEI number. If it's blank its noyt gonna work on any network...
You might be able to restore it if you have a backup of it - no-one will give you their backup as you then have their phone - or as a last resort, you might need to restore to the stock Chinese Rom again and see if that fixes it...
Good luck, I'm off to bed after a long backshift...

Here's the latest update:
I loaded TWRP onto the phone and installed the file A2017U_N_Modem.zip. (Several Times)
nothing has changed. The radio is still turned off and no signal is being picked up from my carrier T-Mobile.
While loading it says: Loading A2017U_N_Modem for nougat system. I am not running nougat and I cannot find any other modem to download. Will that make a difference?
Any other suggestions are welcome?

Okay it works! I've got signal but when I try to make a phone call and my other phone picks up I can't hear or say anything. Any idea what's happening? I have tried refreshing the signal with no luck.
Hey man, I'm having the same problem with my Axon 7, brand new A2017U. Turned it on for the first time and I haven't had an ounce of radio on. Same things you've tried I've tried and it refuses to work. Mine is not rooted and I don't want to. I've tried downgrading my update and to no avail. Factory reset etc. I've contacted ZTE and they said they have forwarded my details and my phone details, storage size, color etc. To the necessary representatives. I think I'm gonna be sent a replacement, but just wanted to let you know your not alone.
Hello all.
Basically title. I have tried every possible reset after this and nothing helped. I have tried putting another sim (thats working for sure) in and still nothing.
This thread is basically my last resort before trying to flash another ROM(currently using stock 9 android) and see if it persists.
Any help is much appreciated

I have the same problem, imei and baseband are unknown after factory reset, flashed multiple firmwares but still no luck.
Can you see your imei number in settings or by dialing *#06# ?
