I have found a method that i have used twice now, once when i got my phone, and the second when i applied the over the air update.
please note that this is just to gain root, i did not flash any recovery yet as i dont know which is the best yet this modle of phone.
i followed the method described in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790104
I am using a mac so i did not need to install the USB driver, just download the files attached and started up my terminal and followed the directions.
after i did that process, i had to update the su binary, because the one that gets installed does not ask your permission before granting root access it just allows it. so the first thing to do is go to the app mark or some how download the superuser app, and run an update for the binary. after that, you can switch it over to SuperSU if you so choose...
happy hacking

US Cellular Samsung S3

Hi guys,
I know this doesn't belong here but since I couldn't find the thread for the AT&T device I decided to post it here.
I have a handful of SGH-i257, this is the AT&T version of the S4 mini. As you might imagine the booloader is blocked and I don't have that much time to dig in to the unlocking process (I have tried) but I managed to root it and extract the images (boot, radio, efs, system, etc.) So if someone is interested in this please let me know and I will be more than happy to help.
Thanks

The AT&T i257 is great news! I have a Telus i257m, and these phones are great. They are like the i9000, so much potential!! Now that a larger carrier will be pushing them I hope we can get some developers on board and start getting some ROMs up!
We do have a thread started at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520299 where we're trying to get the stock images for most, if not all, the carriers. Do you mind uploading them there?

Does i257 have a notification led like the Verizon version? If so, anybody test it with light flow?

Hallo can you please post or email me step by step root process for this device? would be good to know, my friend was asking me to help him with that.
If you have the current and up to date firmware, you won't be able to root it. Knox will block any root access

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the locked bootloader is the one preventing from rooting? There's plenty user around with Knox and rooted... Just with the Knox flag triggered and void their warranty.

Could someone please post or upload their build.prop
from an AT&T stock Ron?
Thank you.
Hell, I'd be happy if they would just give us the 4.4 update...
I'm trying to root this phone and would really be interested in more information as well. None of the recovery images will flash using Odin ("auth" error), and none of those automatic rooting apps have managed anything either.

Any new developments on rooting this phone?
Could you provide details and files for rooting SGH-I257 (ATT)?

I have tried every version of Towel Root but to no avail. It is my understanding that the dev that created this exploit is now working for Google and to my knowledge, there will be no more updates! I can only hope that someone here on XDA that's way smarter than me can pick up the baton and get things going again. Probably easier said than done but I'm very hopeful!
Hi All,
Great forum............if I had a clue what the [email protected] you guys were talking about
Seriously though I have a Telus S4 running 4.4.2 and Build number I337MVLUFNE1. I want to root the device only to be able to remove the Country restriction for some apps I want to load and delete some of the bloatware. Other than that, I don't have the knowledge to do much more.
I hate to ask such a basic question but there are so many versions, downloads etc and I'd hate to brick my phone.
Any help or advice is truly appreciated.
Thanks!
Jimmy

Please don't be lazy and use the search function of this site and use google. This thread is all there is about your phone. Read all of it. Don't expect someone else to read everything for you, good luck.
Hello All,
I'm digging around threads and cannot find a sure fire root method for my Sprint Galaxy Tab 4 7" (T237). If someone could point me towards a definitive good method of rooting my device I'd appreciate it. I've rooted almost all of my phones with Odin and never had an issue but can't seem to find anything. I sort of need a sure fire way to root because I did not add insurance on my device and I used to work for Sprint so getting a phone replaced wasn't an issue. I just want to cover all my bases that the data/LTE will remain working after root. Thanks in advance!!

This only safe thing I can suggest is kingroot http://www.kingroot.net/down (click first download) you can search on YouTube on how to use kingroot so yeah. If that doesn't work, then your going to have do it another way
