My phone is stuck in a boot loop after it automatically installed an OTA update when on a custom ROM. at first recovery worked, tried installing a custom rom from fresh with the sideload in CWM, then after reboot recovery does not boot, just LG logo and restarts again. Any ideas?
Need it fixed badly no phone for 5 days now.

I just did this today, and also am out of a phone for now, apparently I lost the software, and in the process of trying to get out of the ota i blocked twrp. Anyway, does yours just go on the lg logo and have the pulsing led? Thats what mine does and I think I can get into download mode which may help. But it wont show up when I plug it in . Good luck to you, if I figure something out ill post it here.

No LED but it just loops on the LG logo over and over, no access to download at all, tried all combinations but if i hold in power+vol buttons it eventually just gives flashing red LED until i let go of the power then it starts boot looping again.

The red led is what i get when I try to go into download mode too. Just holding down the down and up takes me to that and it keeps going until i press another button. Thats odd you have no led though.
Is this just unfixable? I really need my phone back.
Its the same thing that happened to me the other day. Theres a way to fix hopefully, try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142&page=3
My posts are at the end and mine is totally unrecoverable at the moment so off to Verizon for me. There are others in my shoes too but I would try that thread first to see if you can recover. If you do go thru ubuntu and only get " /dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5 "
your pretty much hosed from what I gather. No one has all the files to recover from where I'm at. See my posts on page 13 and 14.
Hopefully someone can figure this out but I cant wait for it to happen. Good luck

No doesn't work, that fix requires the phone to get PAST the LG initial turn on logo, but it only comes on for 10 seconds then reboots again, not enough time for USB to enable on the phone itself so PC can't even detect it.
Just LG for 10 seconds, off, then LG for 10 seconds and does it over and over.
Anyone else with an idea?
I'd rather not send it away because don't want to get in trouble for having recovery and custom ROM on the phone.
Did you figure out the solution?
I'm stuck in bootloop too, can't connect to the phone to use adb anymore after i tried to install trwp. Download mode isn't seen by my computer...
sorry to bother you all. i bricked my device and it's only a few hours old. I rooted it using the io root method. that was painless.
anyway, it didn't brick then. i got a notification from verizon for the 4.4.2 update so I clicked download update it never installed and that's when the bricking started. Anytime I connect it to the computer it opens up like 40 disks and it says cannot be used unless it's formatted so I have to spend a while canceling those out. when I restart the phone it says the lg logo then the screen goes black . im stuck. i've been trying for hours. if i get the phone back i won't root it or do anything. ill deal with the bloatware, whatever. i've tried a lot of different things but to no avail. any help is appreciated. thank you for your time...and wont go into download mode....help please anyone....
i have no recovery installed....every time i try to cut the phone off it vibrates screen goes off and on showing the lg logo very quickly then goes black but remains on until battery drains
Im in the same boat

If you can't boot into stock recovery (vol down + power key) and can't get into download mode (this is where they detect root once FW update shows up and the bottom left corner says Bootloader: ROOTED) then you can rest assure as long as you are under warranty, send it in to LG directly.
Do not send it to Verizon as you may incur charges for replacement. There's insurance from Verizon, but the real "replace with no charge" warranty is sending it to LG directly. Make an account on their website, register your G2, and make a Repair request by online chat or phone.
I just got my T-mobile G2 back after 2 weeks with the same issues and while it took a while to get repaired, I didn't pay a penny and it works without T-Mobile ever knowing its different hardware (all they replace is the flash memory that is corrupted in the phone).
Only downside is that it came back with KitKat and unrooted which means I have to wait for a working root procedure for it unlike with JB (I'm not afraid to root it again since I know what messed it up before was custom recovery TWRP version 2.6.3.2 that doesn't support KitKat lol).

Not getting into download mode is odd especially for just accepting a OTA update. Remember since they accepted the OTA its gonna take a special way of getting into download mode as the phone will be constantly on in boot loop. not all of the time but most of the time when people say they cant get into bootloader they have to keep trying due to the phone has to be "Turned off" OR rebooted at the same time of holding down the key combo.

To get the phone to turn off, one has to reboot the phone (power key for 10 seconds) while holding volume up WITHOUT having the USB cable plugged in.
Recovery mode is a bit trickier by having to hold the power key for 10 seconds, then just as the phone reboots, hold PWR + VOL DWN and while holding VOL DWN, release PWR and press it again (gets to that factory reset screen where you press PWR 3 times).
Not trying to teach you this if you already know how, just stating it if the OP looks at this then he can try again with the above.
Also, Download mode is essentially the "bootloader" and it is locked meaning unless you have certified software (KDZ FW updater), you can't adb anything just in download mode unlike some LG phones that have emergency mode which is unlocked bootloader.

Yea I know the commands, The guide for going back to stock was created by me for the G2 haha, Hopefully the OP will see your post and try that
ive tried
ive tried factory reset "vol down & power"...its just goes black and stays the same
I'm having about the exact same problem. I rooted my phone a while back, I left it stock and just used some modules (xposed). When I noticed the update I of course was stupid enough to hit the update... My phone is doing the same as his. I can get to the factory reset screen but even if I go through there I get the same black screen (though backlit). I can't boot into download. I'm downloading the .tot needed for stock, but I'm not sure if that'll be a lot of good without download mode. I have everything on my phone backed up from when I rooted it (I'm missing a few pictures but nothing major.) Any and all help would be appreciated. I've got a bunch of precalc homework and Prom in a couple days so I'm willing to sacrifice sleep tonight. Thanks! (Made this account just for this, though I've used the site a bit before.)

It's cuz you're not doing it correctly.
Yes, you're supposed to depress "vol down & power" but once you see LG logo, let go of both buttons and then immediately hold down only the "power" button.
After a few secs, a white factory reset screen will appear. Ignore the warning and press power button. I know, its kinda scary at first, but then phone will load into recovery.
I can get to the factory data reset screen but when i choose yes it just gives me the secure boot error. I am able to put my phone into download mode by pressing up volume and power when plugging to pc, but cant get pc to recognize it. I am sure I am missing something.
i am also bricked. i cant get into download mode or recovery. i have twrp installed, cant get to that either. i have tried every button combination and all i get is a black screen and vibrations, no lg logo. need help.

Call LG verizon will void your warranty
Has anyone made any progress or did all just send back to LG?
I am in similar shape, can get to the white factory reset screen - which does nothing once I accept.
I can also get into download mode, but the phone isn't recognized.
Wanted to confirm before I try to send it back that I can't fix myself.
Thanks!
Also, did anyone who was able to get back to the hard reset screen have luck sending to LG? Or did it have to be completely bricked?
Im also bricked. And there is no recovery mode. download mode is usable. but when i in twrp before brick i deleted efs because i have a back up after that recovery had corrupted and driver in the rom memory to talk to pc had also deleted with efs(i think). I have an idea to fix but im not sure
If I can change rom from mainboard and replace it other rom from other lg g2? Will it solve my and our problem??????
thanks to reply.
My G2 suddenly just stopped working yesterday. When I try to power it on the phone either freezes shortly after the boot screen, gets to the homescreen then shuts off, or boots to an all blue screen. I can access TWRP but haven't been able to fix it with anything I've found. My pc isn't recognizing the phone so don't know if I can flash another rom. Also tried factory reset with no luck. Any help please this is driving me crazy!!!
The same thing just happened to me! Someone please help us! IS there a solution to this?

Ok, since there is little to no information out there I thought I would share how I created and fixed this problem.
I received a new phone under warranty because of a failing sim card reader. Naturally, the first thing I did once I received it was root it. Next, I thought I would be slick and use flashify to flash a custom recovery (TWRP). Little did I know, with the new version of Android, our phones have a locked bootloader. I freaked out when I saw some weird error messages about it and tried to power off the device in the middle of it booting. BIG MISTAKE. In hindsight, I am assuming that it was re-flashing the factory recovery when I powered it off.
It gave me a solid blue screen for two hours, unless I held the power button for 10 seconds, which would just repeat the process from black screen to solid blue screen repeatedly. I tried to reboot into recovery for 2 hours by holding volume down and power. 2 HOURS!
At that point, I realized that I may have some luck getting it into download mode by powering it off, then powering it on with volume up and power and plugging in a USB cable. VOILA! It booted up normally (somehow) and I got it running the OS.
After that, I made sure that I did a factory reset by reverting to stock using the LG Software Upgrade tool.
The moral of this story is, if you are going to try to install a custom recovery on 4.4.2, make sure you know what you're doing. It turns out an app called AutoRec did the trick for me.

I didn't get the blue screen but I kept getting the security error screen on my d802. To turn it off, I kept holding down the power button for about 10 seconds after the screen went blank. This caused the phone to remain powered off. After that, I was able to boot into download mode. Maybe this method will work for your phone.

Don't know of any other methods because holding down the power button got the phone to turn off and allow me to get into download mode. From download mode, I was able to restore a stock 5.01 ROM to my phone via LG Mobile Support Tools.
LG G2 Bluescreen then no boot after disconnecting battery
Found my LG G2 with a completely blue screen. It would not turn off. Took it apart and disconnected the battery. Reconnected the battery and there was only a blank black screen and the phone would not boot. Zilch. Even with pressing the power button with the volume down to boot into recovery.....still zilch.
I sucessfully got my phone to work again using a hair dryer trick on an LG G3, which I found here.
1. I took the back off the phone, disconnected the battery, and removed the SIM card.
2. I then used a hairdryer on high heat and blew the heat over the uncovered areas for 10 minutes.
3. I let the phone from hot to warm, reconnected the battery and put it all back together with the SIM card replaced.
4. I booted into recovery and restored a TWRP backup, and my LG G2 is working like a champ again.
Hey all! Hopefully you can help with this issue. I have had this phone through T Mobile for a few months now, and am stuck in a real bind. As the title suggests, I have a boot loop issue and Device is Corrupt issue as well. The red Triangle is an issue with the OS. I cannot get the phone to boot to Android, nor get into recovery. I can however bring up the IMEI menu, which displayed the IMEI. I really need help, as this is my main contact for job search and family.
Im on sprint so this method is unavalable to me.
Tried LGUP? you have the ability to shoehorn a KDZ file in whicj will bring your phone to stock
As this is a no go for the ls997 i have no idea how this is accomplished. Check the forums for said method.

I will definitely look into this. I just want my phone back TT.TT lol
I wanted to chime in, I've got the same issue as OP.
What's broken:
turning the phone on normally - displays an LG logo; gets stuck, won't proceed past this point
holding VolUp while connected to PC - displays IMEI; won't enter download mode
holding VolDown - displays IMEI; won't enter fastboot or recovery mode
So, there's no way to get to recovery. I'm stuck with a $400 brick that displays a logo or an IMEI number.
LGUP w/Uppercut doesn't work either, shows up as an unrecognized device, and it wouldn't matter if it were recognized, because I can't get the phone to download mode to restore a stock .kdz.
I just ordered the phone on the 4th from Amazon, so I'll see if I can return it/get a replacement, but I'm guessing I won't be that lucky. It does display the orange "WARNING: Bootloader Unlocked" screen, meaning it's very easy to see that the warranty has been voided, so I guess whatever support I get is a crapshoot.
Again, since I can't get to fastboot mode, there's no way to restore to stock and relock the bootloader before returning it. Kinda dug myself into a hole here with no other options.
I got it to install! Now to just play the waiting game and see what happens. I had to do some finagling to get it to work, but it works.
I found a H91810 KDZ, I started Uppercut which loaded LGUP, click on UPGRADE, then selext the KDZ file from where you saved it. Should work. Also make sure all of your drivers are up to date.

Ok, I seem to have my device back up and running. The step I was missing was to remove the battery, disconnect the USB cable, put the battery back in, hold volume down but don't press power, instead connect usb cable. This got me into fastboot and I was able to recover from there.
this might work for you!

okay so holding VolUp while powered down and plugging into pc will bring up download mode if its still there,
if you have twrp installed prior to this red triangle then pull battery/put back battery. hold VolDown and power at the same time, as soon as LG logo comes up release power button (fast) and then hold it back down again while never letting go of VolDown. this is the factory reset hit yes for both questions and it should reboot phone into Recovery mode. some times you have to do it twice to get recovery (twrp) to pop up! i hope you have bootloader unlocked and twrp.

Ok, I seem to have my device back up and running. The step I was missing was to remove the battery, disconnect the USB cable, put the battery back in, hold volume down but don't press power, instead connect usb cable. This got me into fastboot and I was able to recover from there.

What model do you have?
You can put the phone to download mode (even if screen displays glitchy gibberish screen) by taking out Battery first, put battery back in after 10 seconds. Then just press Vol up and while keeping it pressed, connect to USB. If you have drivers installed, your phone will get recognized by LGUP. Now from here you can flash the stock rom.
HI
So i was trying to restore my LG G2 D803 phone and I accidentally unplugged it when I was doing the LG Tools process, I turned off my phone so I can reset it but now it doesn't work anymore. So now my phone can't use Firmware Update, and every time I tried to escape it, by hold the power button or anything, it goes back to Firmware Update where its now at 0%. What do I do now?
EDIT: I think the problem i'm facing right now. Is that it keeps going into a glitch download mode when I turn my phone on, and I can't access download mode properly or factory reset, due to going back to the glitched download mode. I tried to flash it properly, letting it drain battery on itself, and turning it off FULLY & turning it back on, where all these methods would just lead back to the glitched download mode.

You can try flashing a kdz for your model in download mode with lg 2014 flash tool. See links below, there might be YouTube tutorials, not sure.

Yea I tried using the Flash tool Way but it doesn't work, I think the problem is that the LG is stuck in download mode so I can't do any Flash tool stuff or anything, and I can't restart my phone because it would just go back.

Can you elaborate more when you say it doesn't work?
After you hit flash on the software, don't do anything for like 25mins. It may show you error messages on computer, that it failed or whatever, pop up windows, don't click on anything just let it stay like that. The progress bar can also be stuck on the phone, not a problem. Give it that 25 mins.

It didn't show any progress on the phone, and also said an error on not working. And there would be no change in the download screen, like it would say that nothing is downloading from the USB port it is in and etc.
But I try to wait for 25 mins and see.

Of the 25 mins or my problem?
I cant do it for now, but I think the problem is that my phone is in a loop of download mode, i mean that everytime I turn off my phone and turn it back on, it goes back to download mode without me pressing the buttons.

You must turn it off completely before booting in download mode. Keep pressing and holding volume down+power for a minute, it should completely turn off after one or two LG logo. If it doesn't then you can unplug battery. After that you don't boot with power button, then you boot with download mode method.
Video from complete shutdown - putting USB in computer while pressing volume up button and starting download mode - software recognizing your device - checking all the correct options in software - hitting flash button - state of phone after flash started.

No, like it automatically goes to download mode wihtout me pressing the buttons, and if i do it the normal button pressing way with the power and volume up, then idk if its the glitch version. But the problem im trying to solve is fixing it so it stops going automatically to the glitched download mode when i turn it on

K firstly, Im not trying to be rude or anything, I just need help fixing my phone. If I somehow offended you in any reason why, im sorry. And I literally don't know much about phones, but I was trying to make sense on your instructions and making sure Im not going to mess it up. If you dont want to help anymore, its fine, im grateful that you tried to help
Also I know how to flash it properly and put it in download mode properly, its just that its always going to a glitched download mode so I can't download anything, or put it in factory mode.

No you shouldn't, rather I am sorry, made a bad judgement call. I left room for confusion in my post. Should've said unplug and plug back the battery. Perhaps you thought if i meant to leave it unplugged.
As your main problem was to stop it from bootlooping into a glitched download, it can be done with holding power and volume down for a minute or two.
But since that didn't work for you i suspected button/hardware failure and so recommended to reconnect the battery.
Another way can be, to let it be as is, so that the battery drains itself and after that charging it with a wall adapter. And see if it stops booting into download itself, or displays a charging only screen.
Anyhow, I hope you find a way out. Feel free to ask anything again.

Nah its ok, that happens to me too sometimes.
So I was going to try to unplug my battery and reconnect it but then but before I was, i was testing some other stuff with the button commands stuff (I mean like the download mode with pressing power and volume up adn stuff) and I think i was able to get the actualy download mode, not the glitched one. I was able to download a bit for the flash tool so what i'm testing rn is to see if I can do the full factory reset and see if that fixes it.
PS: I was already doing the flashtool before so its fine if I erase my data

Sounds like a bootloop, i once fixed it by using another usb port and usb cable. Sometimes they get disconnected for bad connection and cause this kinda error. If MD5 is available, please match yours with original after downloading files. You can keep flashing, maybe try a different kdz later. There is also a TOT method which i never tried myself. This phone is almost impossible to brick permanently.

Sorry for the late reply, just been busy flashing my phone. So I been trying to re flashing my phone using the TOT method because the kda method isn't working, but either 1) it keeps crashing when its downloading 2) cannot recognize the phone to my computer when my phone is in download mode but says its not connected to my computer. Before, it did kinda work, it kept crashing but it lasted a bit longer sometimes, but I had to reflash it because the software update was glitched where it says its on the notification bar but wasnt there. So for rn, i'm still trying to reflash it.
I donno much about the TOT method, haven't tried myself. Getting a hunch that there might be hardware issues somewhere which is interrupting the process and not letting it finish, could be the cable, pc usb outlet, phone's micro usb port....perhaps a loose connection or something else.
If i were you i would stick to the kdz, as it's working somewhat better for you and they all serve same purpose in the end. That youtube video is actually a good step by step tutorial.
