See my post here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2445944
my post in post number 2 in this thread has the root zip
flash in cwm with system mounted & follow the instructions in my post
if you're on stock kernel flash a temporary cwm - search Google or xda

Try rooting with manoranjan2050's rooting method...this shud work

Easy method
This was not created by me I am just sharing with you.
This is completely safe I have done this 100s of times
1) Download attached file and put them in root of sdcard.(Root of sdcard means not in any folder, that is in the same place where Android,Download folders are)
2) Switch off your device. Then press and hold Power, Volume up and Home buttoms at same time.
3) Release buttons after screen shows Galaxy y GT-S5360 Bla bla. This will take you to stock recovery.
***In recovery touch screen does not operate. Use volume buttons for up and down scrolling and Home for selection.***
4) Go to apply update from sdcard. Select update.zip
5) Then Reboot your phone and YOU HAVE A ROOTED PHONE.
6) I have also attached CWM for you.
Manoranjan's method also works, but it is a bit complicated. For that method search google for Multi Root Installer.

Turn off ur phobe, remove battery and sdcard for 5-6 seconds.. Then purlt them back... and boot to cwm.. Try any of the process for rooting.. if this fails then flash stock rom via odin and try this again.... If this fails too ... then this may be ur sdcards fault ... Try replacing ur ascard...

**its cognition...my mistake
Start at the beginning by reading the instructions on the roms pages they are on post one .
You require a rooted phone with CWM as the easiest method .
But as you give no indication of current firmware all i can say is install root and CWM from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Use OXA KG2 from post 4 .
Instructions - ODIN
- Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Unzip the attached CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.zip
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure repartition is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
FOLLOW that by the instructions from Cognition post ,
Installation Instructions:
I highly recommend flashing the full rom! (updates can be unpredictable)
(If you have problems with the update version, flash the full rom instead)
BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!
Download the rom zip from below (don't rename it!)
Put the downloaded zip file on your internal sdcard
Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (don't do this from rom manager, it won't work)
Select Install zip from sdcard
Select Browse for zip on sdcard
Select the zip file you put on your sdcard above
(Let it flash)
Reboot, WAIT Enjoy!
Ignore yellow rom warning triangle at boot .
Best to source a USB jig to remove this .
jje
That was very nice of you, JJEgan.
what do u mean by that "Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (don't do this from rom manager, it won't work)"?
what is it and where i do that?
ty so much for your help
Turn off the phone, hold <vol up> <power> and <home> buttons at the same time to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
Make sure your phone is rooted first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
plz man i'm stuck in the last step....how i install the cognition 1.31 via ClockworkMod Recovery ?
If you try and carry out a task without knowing how then all you will get is trouble . If you cannot read then you will be in even deeper trouble .
You dont seem to be able to follow the roms instructions nor the instructions i posted .
Read my post again i can do no more than tell you how i cannot do it for you .

[GUIDE]Fix unknown serial ROOT stock ics w/o binary incr/cfw flash guide !

hi guys this is my first post i'd expect you all to go easy on me if i make any mistakes, but i have tested it on my international s2 and this method works fine ! this will give you root access and allow you to install all sorts tweaks and custom roms without triggering the binary count !! yep that's right !!
WHAT THIS GUIDE IS GOOD FOR :
*Clean install of ICS.
*Gaining root access with custom kernel flash or increase binary count. NO YELLOW TRIANGLE !
*FIX FOR UNKNOWN SERIAL NUMBER.
*Sorta detailed guide for installing cm9 or any other custom rom.
here's what you need :
*odin 1.85 [link attached]
*check fus downloader . [link attached]
*official stock samsung i9100 ics firmware for your country/region[ in my case it was i9100xwlp7_tml_blabla] get it using check fus downloader.
*cwm.zip [attached]
*your kernel of choice that supports both sammy and aosp/aokp [my preferred is siyah 3.3.2 if you need cwm manager ]
*cwm flashable rom/addon zip.
l
*20 minutes at max.
before you proceed here's a how-to to download stock ics firmware using check fus downloader.
launch the application.on the standard tab on the right side select android from the drop down menu.select gt-i9100 from the devices list and finally the region where you live.then on the left side click check firmware. it will take a few moment and finally a download button will appear in the bottom. press it and wait patiently as it finishes downloading.usually takes about 20-25 mins depending on your connection.
once downloading is finished or if you already have it downloaded, read on:
1. boot into download mode to flash stock firmware if you are not running official samsung ics. if you're running stock firmware then skip step 1. this also fixes the cm9 no serial number issue.
2.flash with odin the official firmware.
3.wait for the phone to boot up automatically.set up and connect the phone again to your PC.
4.after getting detected switch phone to mass storage mode.copy the attached cwm.zip to your external SD card. Also copy your desired cfw like cm9 rc1 in my case and gapps if needed.
5.now disconnect and turn your phone off.reboot into default android recovery using vol up+home+power button combo. let go off the power button once you see the Samsung gt i9100 boot logo.
6.once you successfully manage to get into android 3e recovery, select apply update from external storage and flash the cwm.zip.immidietly your phone will reboot into cwm recovery. this will give you temporary recovery access to flash your phone. if you reboot from this step you will loose your cwm and you will have to repeat the step 3-4 to get it back.
7.once into cwm,choose wipe data/factory reset.
8.then wipe cache partition.
9.go to mounts and storage and format system and data and cache. [this is necessary for a fresh cfw install, it will also ensure your cfw will function correctly.]
10.go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats to ensure your battery gauge is reading correctly and there are no previous kernel remnants.
10.then press power button to come back to main menu and select install zip from sd card.
11.choose your rom from sd card and wait till it finishes flashing.
12.reboot your phone once done.
if your rom comes with gapps then your flashing process ends here.if not or if you want flash modem or a different kernel then read on.replace gapps mentioned below with your desired package and the rest of the process are the same.
13.set up your rom.
14.press and hold the power button and select recovery from the reboot sub menu.
15.once back into cwm flash gapps/kernel/modem/add on package.
16.once finished go to advanced and select fix permissions. [necessary in case of gapps, other wise not needed]
17.reboot and you're done
Enjoy your newly rooted and flashed phone with no binary increase ! :highfive:
just to make sure there is no binary count increase, turn off your phone.press vol down+power+menu and get into download mode.you will see it reads binary as official samsung.
Hope this guide helps.please follow the steps i mentioned. i will not be held responsible for any damage caused to your phone but i believe there won't be any as I tried and tested it myself on my i9100 after a faulty flashable zip messed my phone up.please press the like button if i could help you.
please leave a comment if you need further help. I will not be attending pms at the moment.thanks !

open odin and unchecked "Re-partion" *** if u check this maybe brick your device!!

click on PDA and open recovery file that you download
turn off your device
then hold volume- with power button , go to downloading mode
connect tablet via usb to pc , waiting for installing drivers
goto odin if you see yellow COM text its ok ,,
click on START button and waiting until restarting your device

Make a Nandroid backup before you install the new ROM.
go to wipe cash and do it
go to factory reset and do it
go to advanced and wipe calvik and wipe battery stat
then go back and select install zip from sd card
select your ROM file and tap power button , wait for installing rom
after you see Successful text you can reboot device and Enjoy from your new ROM
if you see this error : install aborted (status 7)

no rooting will not delete any data
I think there is a problem with the recovery file
---------- Post added at 11:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ----------
If you will use "Installing Stock Rooted Rom" method then it will be formatted, but if it's rooting with some file then i think it's ok
I completed step 3, it said that all completed but now it is stuck in a restart loop, it shows some error colors (see image), then it shows Samsung logo, vibrates 3-4 times and it restarts again.
I cannot seem to get it recovery mode (UP+Power), download mode enters OK (Down+Power).
Any ideas ?
suite?

do you have solved this problem? I have the same picture after installed the CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS.tar file.
Thanks
I was able to fix mine using instructions from a different topic, it was about the "Overcome" (images, rom or whatever was that), the file name is "The_Installation_Guide_The_Overcome_Experience.pdf" and at some point it tells you to load around 3 different files in that program, and flash them all.
After this I was able to put Cyanogen images on card and easy install them with the ClockWork mod loader.
Yeah. Do not panic if the video is hosed. I also got strange disruptions when following 'some online guides'.
The closest guide I have found that works to upgrade from Stock reliably, is the process mentioned on https://goo.im/devs/cmwiki/p1/p1c/ (Verizon CDMA P1000). I only have the CDMA version, not the SIM card version.
This is undergoing major revisions. I hope. I can say there are two (2) Verizon SCH-I800 recovery images available now. One that works is the ODIN image from TheCollective.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383201
TheCollective repository http://www.theandroidcollective.org/i800/public/
I have tested this image. It works.
I recovered the device after a working 2.3.5 stock was running (from the other viable stock image) and I wanted to flash a modem.bin from heimdall. Mistake. Device locked up at 100% along with heimdall, and a forced reboot (hold power down) only gave the
PHONE - ! - COMPUTER
screen.
It would also work to restore from Download mode, with ODIN and TheCollective stock.
I have never gotten the modem working again, though.
Hi there, where can I get a superuser flashable zip for P1000? I changed from cyanogenmod to omnirom and I have lost root access.
Are you sure? I am using Omnirom and I have super user.
You mean you don't have the SuperSu or whatever icon in app tray.
Go to Settings, scroll down all the way, above "about tablet" and performance, is there a SuperSu option?

FIX: Emergency Calls Only Error in Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360

!~~~ SAMSUNG GALAXY Y GT-S5360 ~~~!
!~~~BUG FIX: Emergency Calls Only Bug  ~~~!
Hello Everyone! Many of you might have experienced this error when you are flashing custom ROM on your device. It is the most common bug faced by many devices. I have found a solution to this frequently occurring problem. You don't have to strain yourself by using Odin and flash a new ROM just because your sim did not respond. Aha ! But how ? Its really simple :silly:.
Follow the steps carefully:
Download the RadioFix.zip file and ClockWorkMod file attached along with this post.
Copy the files to the root of the sdcard.
Go to recovery mode by holding VOLUME UP + POWER + MENU button simultaneously.
Choose "apply update from sdcard" (if you are using stock recovery) or choose "install zip from sdcard" (if you are using CWM).
After that, select RadioFix.zip and then install it.
After installing, reboot your phone.
Now check whether your network came back.
Advantage:
You need not use Odin anymore for this bug
No need to download stock ROM
Easy to flash
Saves Time
I have tested this fix on my phone and it worked like a charm.
You can report any problem occurred during install of this fix to me: [email protected]

(Q) Lost root and custom Recovery !! i9505

hi all.
I'm really struggling here and dont know what to do.
Ive been rooted and have been running EchoeRom 4.4.2 with an Alucard kernel thats been brilliant.
Last week i seemed to have lost a load of apps - which in hindsight were some that i had moved to SD card. I couldnt update the apps, reinstall or reinstall via titanium.
Long story short I used mybackup after reflashing the ROM but started getting some f/c
A factory reset didnt help so I decided to unroot and flash stock 4.3 NG8 firmware then re-root through ODIN. This is something I/ve done before - but now it wont work.
Ive tried CF Autoroot but the Superuser app says missing Binary.
If I try to get to recovery it just reboots again after 2 seconds to normal startup. I have tried just flashing CWM and TWRP recoveries both with auto reboot checked then un-checked with a battery pull about 20 times.
On 2 or 3 occasions I've had the CF red splash screen for rooting, but that seems to finish with a 'restoring stock recovery' message and i'm back to square one after it reboots.
Ive tried a different superuser app but it couldnt update the binary.
I even attempted a different rooting method with Towelroot but after accessing the APK it starts phone not supported.
Im really stumped now and have no root and no access to any recovery. If i could get to recovery Id be ok.
I dont know if ive destroyed root forever - when updating on ODIN I usually get a PASS message so i suspect something bootloader related may be overwriting the installed recovery ?
Any clues folks !!
1. Reflash android 4.4.2 GN8 firmware through ODIN
2. Download this FILE and copy it to your phone (in SDCard better)
3. Go to DOWNLOAD MODE and Flash TWRP (for example) through ODIN.
4. Remember the combination for go TWRP is a lil difficult and sometimes your phone will reboot normally. This happend to me too:
- Power off your device completely.
- Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
- Release the buttons when the phone’s screen flickers or the TWRP Recovery logo blue appears.
- That is it, after you release buttons, you will be taken to the main Recovery Mode menu..
5. Install the file of the step 2 with TWRP.
6. Done
sorry for delay in responding.
I was about to follow your advice, when at random when using the phone it flashed up a message..
something along the lines of 'unauthorised activity detected - reboot phone'
I did this only to go straight into Philz recovery and since then have been able to load a backup, reflash a new rom and all seems ok.
Very strange !
Thanks for the help though.
