Hey guys.. I want to enable swap...
Im running evo x4 with percy gnu10. My sd card is partitioned with 1gb for a2sd which I use. And I also have 256mb for swap. I followed carldeancatabays guide... But it won't work. Help?

Not all kernels support swap
if you get an error at the terminal command use another kernel - see the kernel op to see if swap is on the feature list

Default mount partition is rfs..
Kernel can make other partition like ext4 can run..
type "cat /proc/mounts". you'll get all the visible partition info there

swap partition is a partition (little part) on the SD card. its usually ~32-512 MB big.
swap is a little help for the RAM. big apps can be transferred to this partition if the RAM is full.
on gt540 ics/jb ROMs need swap to work properly, buzt on the other side it slows down the whole system especially with a slow SD card.
for gingerbread ROMs it's not needed but MAY improve your experience
How can i make swap partition ?
It is properly run on sdsl?
How can i transfered app to swap partition when Rom is full?
I also know more about this partition ?
Which type of partition should i make?and how?

I made a sticky thread in the dev forum about how to make one. I think i better clear somethings up, swap is used by the system to be (RAM) If you want more space to install apps then that is a totally different partition type.

You will need to advance restore system from a nandriod backup before you flashed merrek in order to get root back - I used this method to change from merrek to hells #50 keeping ext4

Download hells fusion #50 kernel from dev thread
boot into cwm
Make sure everything is mounted
install zip from sd
select hells fusion
Choose option 2 install hells fusion
In cwm choose advanced then reboot recovery
Select backup & restore
advanced restore
select restore system
choose nandriod backup you made before you you install merruk kernel
restart
failing to restore system from nandriod backup you did before you installed merruk will result in loss of root

I had the same problem few weeks ago and was unable to fix it.

Im using hells 50 + evo 3.

ive tried installing that... But it never worked... Can u please tell me how to instal it?? Thanks
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda app-developers app
Ok buddy,
Ive installed evo x3 from a fresh stock, then boot up 1 time.
After that installed all Ota updates from rom, another reboot and setup rom.
Then installed hells fusion 50#.
Reboot, put amarullz script
Give permissions rwx r-x r-x.
Reboot two times.
First reboot takes few minutes, second is a bit faster.
For detailed instruction read his thread.
I can live with longer boot time,
because i got more space.
Hope i could help you.
Umm so the a2sdx zip?? I tried to instal... It says install failed. Please upload the zip u flashed?

Or is it a different way?? Please elaborate on the installation please? I tried to go through the thread... But I couldn't really understand. Thanks.

My fault sorry.
extract the zip and put the 40ad2sdx manually in init.d folder and ggive right permissions.
That should work.
Let me know if you have problems
Can we install without a data wipe?

You mean the script? If yes then yes.
Remember do everytime a backup if you change something, it saves a lot of time in the worst case
Some of your data will be moved to your 2nd partition in sdcard with this script.

huh? What do you mean by "memory swap"?
I mean to use my external memory as my internal and internal into external

Hope you are rooted. If Yes, you can flash extsd2internalsd mod by mattiadj. It needs a supporting kernel like perseus... You can search and find the mod in xda note 2 forum

As far I know swap is not successful on 4.3 yet. I am using Folder Mount to transfer app data from internal to ext SD.It works

why you wanna swap in 4.3 ? as i know you can move 2 SD , not like 4.1.2 thats why we go for int/ext swap

it's very useful using int/ext swap. because when i flash with different custom ROM, i just restore all apps from titanium backup, and all apps installed to ext sdcard. in 4.3, i have to run move 2 sd for each one by one apps every time i change to different rom..
