Hmmm...I purchased this app a little while ago and switched back to my default camera...today I decided to go back to Vignette and do some photo tests against the default camera.
Both apps are on the same settings, or as close as I could make them. Clearly to my surprise the Vignette app actually takes sharper pics than the X10 camera.
Attached is a photo sample to show the difference...im my eyes its actually a pretty big difference.

i went in the same way i was using vignette but i guess it was some stupid version .. with no available options ... and returned to stock camera ... but now i`m using one of the latest versions and OMG the difference is so big ... i just deleted stock camera app from my screen never gonna use it again ! )
I'm usually a really cynical poster and I don't mean to be a ****, but that's been one of the most popular topics on the forum. It's definitely true though, I don't use the original camera app much.
The only thing I don't like about Vignette is that you can't adjust the contrast on the fly like in the native camera app. I don't like the interface as much either. The X10's interface is pretty good, it just lacks the ability to keep the light enabled by default, to view pictures fullscreen and without Mediascape and a few other very minor tweaks. For once SEMC actually did something correct with the minimalistic and straight forward camera interface.

I think you may have used the free version...which doesn't support the full resolution of your phone. But I took a few different pictures comparing, I only posted that one comparision, but yeah vignette came out better everytime alot more crisp anyways.

Maybe 2.1 will improve the default camera app, but from what Ive read its only giving us 720p and nothing else. I actually like the interface on vignette, I also like the interface on the default camera. But when it really comes down to it, its all about what app will take the clearer more crisp picture right? and that goes to Vignette hands down. There may be a bunch of posts about this already, but really Ill admit, im way to lazy to search today...sorry

I'm positive that even SEMC will update the interface to include some of the important features. It's sad that we have to pay for a third party app to do the most minimalistic tasks, and that's to just take a proper picture. Nothing advanced even!...

I returned to the stock app because vignette is so damn slow and I could not find a way to just take a picture and have it save without having to push 50 buttons.
I won't deny the quality is far superior, but like I said its just stop slow.

That's the stupidest thing you could've done. You've probably broken every application on your phone that uses the camera to add a picture to a message/fb/twitter, ect.
Also, you've lost the ability to easily take video.
Does anyone think before they delete apps?
Well I've noticed that night(or atleast low light) shots are pretty much the same with either app... they both suck
I use Vignette for everything else though...wish it had a better UI

exactly what i did
I tried using Vignette, but I found that it seemed to crop some of the picture automatically? Like, I know there's something like that in the settings, but besides that, what I see on the screen before I take the picture isn't the same as what's captured. Also, I found it really difficult with macro shots, especially with the autoflash. While focussing, the light comes on, but then the light goes off after focus, so then the camera refocuses, and when the picture is taken, the flash comes on but the camera focussed for without light, so you get over exposure or out of focus. Am I using the app wrong? I'm really finding it difficult to focus and get clear pictures, with vignette or stock app

and about those 2 pictures with the sunglasses m8... there maybe is not difference in close up pictures coz macro is working fine but try to take pictures from distance and youll see the difference anyway i`m using steady shot for best preformance 8mpx superfine and 16:9 widescreen something u dont have at stock app 8pmx only 4:3 ... sooo there u go aaaa and another thing with vignette u can take picture with a real FLASH ... not with LED light
Hi,
Is anyone there who tried LgCamera 6.4 on LG G2? If yes what is your experience? Could you record 1080p60fps video?
I tried and tested few functions and so far it works perfectly on LG G2 too. Also It shots pictures without any sharp blur or any other dirt. Only the pure clear picture which is unbelievable in this modern world. It doesn't want to impress the user with too sharped photos on mobile screen but pictures look good on monitor and TV as well.

That's not very good quality. I began thinking it was the software causing this camera to be a bust. It's the hardware I am gathering.
Did anyone try to 60fps video option. G2 can do. This software also has such option but result is always 30fps. Factory camera software can record 60fps video.
My low light pics were awful, the aosp camera did a better job, if that tells you anything

It tells not too much. I haven't used AOSP camera on LG G2 so far but low light function is not in my focus sorry, although I am very satisfied with low light capabilities of built in camera. What is interesting for me in this program is that pictures and video post-processing is much less then others'. As I see every phone manufacturer built as many post-processing options in their phone as they could do. Typical is the sharping and denoising which make pictures on mobile screen wow but zooming on monitor to just 100% it is already terrible usually. I hate this and in addition such kind of effects cannot be removed subsequently. I know these effects can be good and useful sometimes but I prefer if I can do the post-processing according to my taste. So this program is very promising from this point of view.
I did video in sunlight too and I got always 30fps result in spite of 60 fps setting. I am wondering whether any of you knows a trick how to turn it on. Thanks for it in advance.
Does anyone know whether you needed software to take advantage of the ois in the G2? Meaning, can a camera aside from the stock camera use the ois? I noticed this camera app has an anti shake mode but I'm guessing that's a software stabilization.

All camera software takes all advantage and disadvantage of OiS. It cannot be turned on/off. Also I see that software has an anti shake option but I haven't turned it on yet. I think using it does not make sense in case of photo because of OiS. In case of video? Interesting... I think so that software anti-shake function does not eliminate disadvantage of OiS .

Qualcomm libs handle hfr rates differently max fps range is 30 but if you add this camera parameter video-hfr
Code:
161// Values for HFR settings.
162const char QCameraParameters::VIDEO_HFR_OFF[] = "off";
163const char QCameraParameters::VIDEO_HFR_2X[] = "60";
164const char QCameraParameters::VIDEO_HFR_3X[] = "90";
165const char QCameraParameters::VIDEO_HFR_4X[] = "120";
video-hfr 60
video-hfr 90
video-hfr 120
you can enable hfr
Thanks a lot indeed. As I see I can do it just on rooted system. I am planing to root my phone, may be this weekend.

Aosp camera better than stock G2 camera? Must be something wrong with the phone . I can't make this phone take a bad picture.
What is nice about this app is that you can change the bitrate from very low to very high. Also, it will allow you to choose the file format you create and will allow for touch to focus in video, unlike the stock app in the G2.
Also, it automatically brightens the screen to 100% which is convenient. It seems to me that there are things that different camcorder/camera apps do better than others. Apparently there it's capable of recording from the input jack in a certain configuration that other apps are not able to. I don't recall exactly what the details are, but if you are interested in connecting an external mic, apparently this app can do something 'special'.
got the g3 yesterday and i have the g2, looking at the g3 camera ui and settings and options. there are very little to none, the g2 camera had more options and modes. i feel like they didnt even try for the camera. theres only 4 modes, dual, panorama, magic focus, and auto... if u count that.
what happen to all the other shooting modes like night, beauty shot, shot & clear, they didnt even add filters.
i hate when companys make a upgraded product but they remove other features from the last.

So what is exactly your complain about? Are you aware that when LG device rings home and sends statistics of its usage then LG engineers could look into it and see what is the most used features of their product. And they can clearly see that very minority of people do make shots with dual camera, filters and all other fancy settings, instead most people just POINT and SHOOT. So why bother. Why spend precious engineers' stuff time to optimize features that will sit in the corner forever unused when LG needs to update ROMs for old devices and programmers are in need?
And for those who needs more tweaks and filters in camera settings there already plenty of 3rd party camera apps in GPlay

I love how minimal the camera app is it truly is point and shoot which is what a phone camera should be, if you want to go deeper than that a phone camera is not what you're looking for
LG wanted to go minimal on this whole device, the whole new UI reflects minimal and that includes the camera.

Honestly, I can understand the OP's disappointment. You won't find shooting modes like the ones he listed on a DSLR camera, but you'll find it in a regular 'ole point and shoot. And since these were available in the previous version, one might expect to find it in the new version.
But again, this is the beauty of android. Download a camera application that has what you want! There are very few limitations, which is why most of us love android powered devices.

The whole reason why there is no more night mode, I think, is because there was "intelligent Auto" mode in G2 and now its gone, too. But now IA is THE default mode of camera instead of optional while being in G2, so the camera sets itself to HDR, or night mode when appropriate based on the measured exposures and lighting conditions and dynamic range of frame
Beauty shot is probably included in frontal camera in auto mode,too.

I was wondering about this too, but I can't get mine to go longer than 1/10th (I mean, it does on the scale, but there is no change in the amount of light the preview shows). Not sure if it is Camera FV-5 that is limited or it's the 6P's camera. LG's G4 Camera can do up to 1/2 and I'm missing that (along with OIS)

Portrait Mode: It is similar to bouque effect present in dslr or in simple words background becomes blur so the foreground stands out clearer.

No, the V20 does not have that. The V20 is quite the exact opposite of the iPhone. The iPhone is for people who can't or won't figure things out for themselves. The V20 is for those who know and want to do things themselves and have more control. You can use the Google Camera app and use its blur mode if you want though.

I don't think google camera app uses dual camera setup,that can be intalled to any phone and doesn't provide good bg blur effect.
Still thanks for reply.
Tell me if there is any other option in Manual mode etc
There are at least 5 camera apps I can think of that allows this... However, I am not going to publicly promote a product or service that if obtained through proper stores,costs money. So... Sorry about that. I searched for aDSLR solution for some time. The main issue I was coming across was most replacement alps made it look like someone ate some potato chips, then touched all over the camera(s) lens(es) with said hands without properly wiping them all over their roommates couch.
Come to think of it.... I was eating some hamburger flavored chips.......hmmm

Both the Google camera app and the iPhone are going to do the same thing, which is use software trickery to blur the background by using information based on changes of depth. iPhone does this using two cameras and the Google app uses one and just has you "pan" the camera up and does some nifty calculations. As for installing it on any phone, you're in the V20 section asking about what to use on a V20. Someone ported it to the V20 and I've been using it for when I want auto photos since then just as well as I would on my Nexus devices. So I don't understand your point. The Google app actually does a decent job for software based trickery.
As for any other options in manual mode, that's not the point of manual mode. Manual mode is for those who want full control over their images. This means you are in charge of pre and post production. Want a specific type of light? Then find and/or set up that type of light. Want background blur? You will have to know what it takes to get blur out of this sensor size and be able to set that situation up. Like I said before, the V20 is not a dummy mode phone.
Ultimately though, if you want to get bokeh all the time all day long, you need at least a full frame DSLR and a very large aperture lens attached to it. Even dedicated cameras with fast lenses with sensors larger than anything in a phone run into issues creating bokeh in certain situations. Or, expand your photography horizons. If all you care about is bokeh, you need to be a bit more creative.
If you still aren't happy with any of the above, just get an iPhone. I hear they're great for when you don't want to have to do any thinking at all.
