opinions on touch/kaiser

I'm feeling a little frustrated with my phone and am considering making a move to something different. Does anyone have any opinion of the HTC touch line? I don't know how i feel about not having a keyboard at all. How about the kaiser?
I think you'll see that there are thousands of folks on this board with touch and kaiser who are having fun tweaking their phones to match their individual needs and personalities.
As a kaiser owner I can about 80% of what I do on my PC from anywhere. (In fact, using remote desktop I can do it all. )
It's a little like asking a mail order rep if they think a suit will fit you without telling them anything about yourself. lol The only way to know for sure is to try it on.

G2 Android or Not

Hello, I am considering the G2, but with all of the technical stuff that I keep reading about with Androids have me concerned. I am starting to think that I maynot even be able to turn the thing on. In visiting different forums, they're really confusing me a lot. I am tired of my BB Curve and really would like an Android! Can anyone offer any insight?
Which G2 are you talking about ?
HTc hero which is called the G2 on tmob uk
or the Htc Desire Z which is also called G2 ?
I am talking about the TMobile G2
Android is about as easy as you can get.. I had a curve before too and I find the android much easier to navigate. The only time you get technical at all is if you decide to root (and even that is easy as pie).. blackberrys are garbage IMO
You won't have trouble turning it on or using it. Like anything new, it will take getting used to. But I went from a candybar dumb phone to a BB 8320, then 8900, now a G2.
Here is how I get used to anything new, and that's just use it and play with the features, and do NOT compare it to anything that you have used in the past. The touch screen and touch keyboard will be interesting and different at first, as will the wider physical keyboard.
But after a few hours of using the phone and its features, you will get ised to them, and remember, first and foremost it's just a phone.
You will want to download a few apps that you are already using on your Curve, and you should find them in the Market, and if you can't find something, just ask and someone can point you to something similar to what you have been using.
If you find that after a week you just can't deal with Android, then it may not be for you, and there are many other smart-phones out there to try and get used to.
Good luck with the new adventure in Android, should you take the leap.

[Q] Installing HC and restoring back

Team,
I have whats probably a very basic question, but since I have 3 other tablets its hard to keep them all straight.
I bought the wife an NC, she sees the things I do in Android HC and likes what she sees, so I found the instructions for putting it on the card and bootnig.
SO FAR everything seems good, BUT she doesnt like having to swap out the card all the time (go figure)
I know that HC can be installed as the primary boot OS on the internal "drive"
I also believe that even after that, if she wanted to we could probably restore her back to out if the box, but my question is , can anyone point me to one or 2 places that might have a step by step walk through on those processes?
On my GTAB one of our devs has actually made a gtab for dummies site that walks you through several different FW functions, is there anything like that in the NC?
Even if the instructions are buried in a threaad I can do that, unfortunatly my work has picked up so much I dont have the time to read all the threads.
Personally I think the NC is probably the best value in the 7" market, and have referred many folks to them. My wife even wants to buy the boy one for thr 'book reading' function, I just have to figure out how to manipulate them 1st''any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
J
My suggestion: Drop HC. It is buggy, and slow. If you really want to have HC, flash this using ClockworkMod:

And then push this to /boot:

Iking,
Thanks for that.
Now the other side of the question.
If she hates this, is there a documented method to restore it to out of the box?
I ask because on 2 of mine I know once I update past a certain point there is no going back.
Thanks
J

[Q] Is this Trophy salvageable?

So, I'm looking for a Windows Phone 7 device to have a play around with, not looking to spend too much as it's just going to be a toy really, and I came across this Trophy going cheap on ebay.
The phone doesn't boot at the moment, and the seller says "It either will turn on to the white screen with the htc logo on and wont go any further or you can turn it on to the bootloader and connect it to the pc, but thats it".
Does anyone know if it can be resurrected? I'm quite techy but I'm not a dev, as long as I have instructions I'm quite comfortable flashing roms and such, I used to have a HTC Hero that I rooted and flashed custom roms etc to, so I'm used to all that stuff. I've attached some pictures of the screen, if anyone can tell me whether it's bricked or not, and if it can be fixed (and possibly point me toward some instructions on what to do!) I would appreciate it.
I personally wouldn't buy it since you don't know exactly what happened with it. But it looks to me like maybe the GoldCard method would work...
...even though you might not have enough information to retrieve from the phone to create an actual GoldCard, you might be able to flash it with the original ROM using an Y-cable and an external card reader.
What is his asking price?
It's on an auction ending in 2 days, no bids yet so its still on the opening price of £20. I reckon it's worth a go as long as it doesn't go above £30
Of course, as long as it hasn't been opened I could just send it to HTC for a warranty repair, but where's the fun in that?
You could ask ansar on our forums if he helps you

Noob with New NGP; root for screensaver and manga?

Hi all, i’ve been reading great information on rooting my unopened Nook Glowlight Plus I recently acquired.
All I pretty much want to do with it is to be able to change the screensaver image and maybe put a good Manga reader on it. Everything else will stay stock.
By the way, for the things I looking to do with it, would rooting even be necessary?
Also, worth update the firmware to it for stock? I doubt an unopened unit will have any recent firmware.
Thanks
