[Q] Unfortunately UI system has stopped - Acer Iconia A500

After ICSroot.exe by blackthund3r, it said successful and done, but i wasn't rooted.
posted HERE
So, I'd tried Root Many Androids
now everything it boot up try to go in, i get message saying "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped" and kick me out.
This force me to install ROM, because when I went in the recovery screen it was looking for UPDATE.zip file.
1. How can I fix this issue
2. If not, how can I restore to factory from bootup
3. or what rom out there is good for a500 4.0.3, if i must
urgggg

nevermind, i was able to hard reset power + up + toggle.
Redid ics root 2.0 and font is installed.
Want to try JB, but wait and see how stable it is.

[Q] EVO Rom/Root problems

I am having some serious issues with my evo. I have tried 10 different methods, googled 100 different help guides and still no fix.
I had originally rooted my phone using simple root and put the "fixed" froyo rom on there. Everything worked fine, but I was outdated and having some really slow issues so I wanted to try a new rom...Fresh.
Well I tried a few methods, but I somehow reverted my evo back to a nonroot of the original OS. Whenever i go into hboot, my recovery does not work. I push the PC36img and load it, then restart then I attempt to go to my recovery where it gives me the error picture with the yellow/red triangle. I then select recovery (after pressing UP volume and powerbutton) and try to load update from sd card. Everytime I do that I get a Failed error.
I've tried to reroot using several methods off this website, I've done everything I can to get it working but can't. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Try reflashing your recovery image.
BTW I have hboot 79.0 with S-ON, so it looks like I def became unrooted.

Not sure how it would have just unrooted itself. I would run an RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884060
Then, I would re-root and start clean again.

I have a recovery-ra.img, how do I tell it to flash it?
I pulled up this list of recovery files, is there a particular one I should use?

Ok I downloaded the top item:
RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed
Ran the exe, surprisingly picked up my phone and started the image update. My phone restarted and it forced closed the app on my computer. Now I have a new HTC logo for about 5 min on my phone not doing anything. Should I wait it out or restart my phone?

I would have waited about ten minutes then restarted the phone. If the phone is stuck at the HTC logo, then I would go ahead and re-run the RUU.
Let me know how it turns out.

ok, finally got it working. Had to restart the phone manually and try it on a different computer. It updated it to the newer version of android and hboot, thank goodness! That was the easiest and most productive thing I've been able to do so far, thanks!
Well now I try to boot into recovery and get the same error:
can't open /cache/recovery/command
Then I get :
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
When i try to load update from sdcard

Ok, so, I think you said you got the RUU working which would have completely restored the phone to unrooted and stock from factory.
Now, you need to re-root your phone using one of the methods on xda. I used the manual method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045. However, many people have had success with the one-click methods.
After you re-root (which will likely included installing a recovery), select a rom you want to try, boot to recovery, wipe and flash it. A great starter ROM is MikFroyo 4.6 or 4.5.
Try downloading the PC36IMG.zip from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
put that on the root of your SD card, then boot into HBOOT and it should find that PC36IMG.zip after a few seconds and ask if you want to flash it. Choose yes and let it finish. Should then be able to reboot into recovery.
ok thanks, i'll try it when I get back home

Ok, I tried this method...the filesize of pc36img.zip is only 3.5mb, but it didn't seem to work. It scanned the file then just went back to the hboot screen with my options never asking to flash.
I'm going to try to reroot using the other method now...
So I clicked the link and he forwarded to the autoroot.bat page so I used his method. It worked well (the 2nd time around) all the way until it started to push amon_ra_1.8-mod.... then after that it says rebooting into the bootloader, and it reboots into it and just says waiting for phone...
It does appear that my phone is rooted now, but my recovery is still not working. If I use ROM manager will it work since my phone is rooted or do I need to have a rooted ROM to run it off of?

Does your phone show s-off while in the bootloader? If so you should be able to run the FlashZip script and use that to flash the pc36img-sprintlovers zip. That one contains everything needed to bring your phone up to date and will leave you with a rooted rom and recovery.

FINALLY! Thanks a million! My recovery is now working and it installed the built in sprinter lovers rom, I guess the anti-virus was stopping it so I disabled it and ran the flash script. I was able to install Fresh on there, just to try it out. I do have a few questions though:
1. I noticed after going through many pages that to update to a newer ROM version you don't always have to wipe clean, you can just install (or flash) the new update? I noticed in Fresh there is a built in app that does that. Is this true for most ROMS or only certain ones?
2. I assume I am using the RA recovery. I noticed the backup/restore feature on there. What exactly does that backup and when should I use it?
3. I've noticed I've been very low with memory on my phone (not SD card), I have about 258MB free. How can I clear space and when I mount my phone what files are important to keep and can I get rid of, is it okay to get rid of my rom.zip's and radio.zip's?
Thanks again to everyone, autoroot was def the most painless root ever.

1) You'll want to always wipe your cache/dalvik (I do everytime I'm in the recovery) but the Data depends on the ROM. Usually if you are going from one sense rom to another you are ok and the same for AOSP to AOSP. Going from Sense to AOSP you'll need to wipe data though.
2) Autoroot comes with a modified version of AmonRA, they are mostly just speed tweaks. To make a complete backup of your ROM select Boot (kernel), System (ROM), Data (Apps & Settings) and .android (apps on SD card)
3) You can delete the zips from your sd card if you don't need them but that's about normal for free memory.

Do a data factory reset and reboot. If this does not fix it try a fresh download and reinstall the rom.
Yep. Sounds like a "wipe/format" issue. Somebody hasn't done their "Data" wipes and formats. (because they don't want to re-install their apps)
Generally you can get away with this when coming from a previous recent release of a rom, but coming from a different rom, you should always follow the wipe/format steps.
In RA Recovery;
Wipe Data/Factory Reset (includes format)
Wipe cach's (includes format)
Wipe android.secure (optional)
System generally gets formatted on rom install.
.
Ok i thought i did that but maybe i did not, But i will try it but the only problem now is it wont let me get into recovery it acts like it wants to try to get into recovery but then gives me the droid with exclamation. I already did a hard reset and it is a fresh install of the software. I want to completely reset it but when i try it just says i am going back to android v 3.2.1 and i am still unable to get into the recovery by pressing vol down+power. Also i tried to use the acer recovery app and it says that my device is not supported. Even tho it is a acer a500. I am lost i would like to get the table back to the original state then try to get it rooted. any ideals?

Well, in this case, it sounds like your Flexreaper install destroyed your recovery image. Probably messed with the bootloader, as it is becoming more frequent these days. Basically there are at least 2 versions of it, one for ICS bootloader, and the other for HC bootloader.
If you can get your Wifi working, you can probably run the AcerRecovery from the market, and try installing a recovery image. If not, here is the author's thread where you can download it and install through a file manager.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588189
Should be able to get a CWM recovery back. If you get devblk errors, try installing RA Recovery.
Also, make sure you are still rooted.
And from what I remember, the recovery app will tell you that it's incorrect version, but I've read where it says to ignore it. Seems this happens when coming off the ICS Beta's.
ok
I got the tablet to go back to its original software(not rooted) out of box. But when i try to load into the recovery still tells me the same thing and will not allow me to get into the recovery. And when i try to use acer recovery it still says that error message even with the link you provided me. I was able to gain Wifi back and i can update just unable to flash a Rom or root. I don't know what to do i think what you said makes sense about the boot loader being fubared. But i dont know what to do to change that.
There is nothing in the Flexreaper rom that changes the bootloader.
It will boot or it won't,
Same with recovery , there is not one thing that will replace or change your recovery.
You posted that you didn't even know that you did a full wipe or not, so maybe you flashed something that you didn't know?
I flash rom everyday for testing and never had big problems with my test roms.
The problems you described in your first post are all caused by not following installation instructions.
If I was you restore your tablet to stock and start all over again.

Please help! TF101 trapped in CWM Recovery!

So I flashed the latest nightly of CM10 onto my TF101. It was working well, nice and smooth... except I couldn't seem to install the Play store. I tried several different APK's including the latest one, and none of them seemed to work. The app would simply crash as soon as it started to load. So then I tried to flash in the Google Apps apk from this page. It seems to have replaced the entire CM10 build with that package, and since I'm such a genus with the greatest of ideas I had already deleted the CM10 zip file that was on my sdcard (because why would I EVER run into problems with flashing nightlies when I have so little experience doing so?)
So now my tablet is stuck in Clockwork MOD purgatory. It won't reboot into anything but CWM recovery, and I can't access the sdcard from my adb shell. Trying to push that CM10 zip file just results in a "protocol error."
Please help. I did want to replace this tablet with something newer, but I didn't want to do it this soon, nor did I want to lose the ability to sell this one or give it to a family member in need of a computing device.
Restore it to stock with Easy Flasher then start over. There's other ways to recover too, if you search the forums/google for "(tf101) recovery loop".

I started to try that, but for some reason I couldn't get into apx mode. It would just default into the CWM recovery when you press volume up. However, if you press nothing it seems to start a "cold boot" process which brought up CM10. The play store problem seems to be fixed though. The only problem is that if I don't hold the volume down button when I boot or reboot and let it "cold" boot, it goes right back into CWM recovery. I'm not sure if this will cause problems, but for now I can deal with it. I'll bring it back to stock and start all over with it if I start seeing any problems.
So thanks! Your advice helped, just not in the way you intended

[HELP] Bricked My U8800 [15Feb2013 Update]

Now, I dont usually open threads, but I have an issue here. I've searched and read a lot on how to recover the U8800 in case its soft-bricked, but I've tried the reflashing 2.2 method (Fails in about 5 seconds), Linux method (blefish's method, buzzcomp's method could not yield any results. I connected the phone in the bootloader mode (pink screen) to a Linux PC, but it doesnt appear as a new device there.
Then I tried to upgrade to 2.3, it installs fine, automatically enters recovery (formats data, cache etc), reboots a lot of times (bootloop?). So now whenever I on my phone, the Huawei logo just keeps flashing.
I've also tried to replace the files when connected in the pink screen by replacing the boot.img , recovery.img, amss.bin , EMMCBOOT.mbn file, yet it bootloops.
Prior to this, I had downgraded from Aurora to the stock 2.2, which worked fine. Then I replaced the stock recovery with CWM (the correct one, not the U8800 Pro's). I did the usual clearing of cache, data, formatted system, wiped dalvik cache in order for me to upgrade to a new ROM. Everything went downhill from there
UPDATE : I managed to get 2.3 to be installed. But everytime I enable "USB Debugging", upon the next reboot, there will be a lot of apps which closes unexpectedly, like the Huawei Launcher, Google Framework etc etc. I've tried B526 and B528, but everytime I have "USB Debugging" enabled, this happens. It works fine on 2.2 though
UPDATE 2 : After my fresh installation of the official 2.3, I'd changed the launcher to Holo Launcher, but it fails at starting up. If it does, it keep saying that Holo launcher has closed unexpectedly. The only way to fix it is to boot into recovery and wipe data.
Any help?

I flashed an older B517, installed CWM, flashed DZO's excellent Aurora 5.0, and everything seems fine, for now.

[Q] A500 Boot hang on 4.1.2 cm10-flex ROM

Hello all,
I realize you all are busy but I'm at my wits end here. I installed my bootloader and recovery using afterOTA. This worked really well, I installed Thor 1.7.3 recovery and ICS V8 bootloader using the utility. I then booted into recovery and did a factory reset (really), reset cache and dalvik, battery settings as well... I then went to install ZIP (JB 4.1.2 CM10-FLEX v6supercharged_Aroma-Rev3.4) from internal storage (download folder). I customized the ROM then went back and installed the random apps...
After this was done I hit next and installed the ROM. It didn't take as long as I thought it would, and I hit reboot when it was done, but came to a screen that I could press next on. The installer screen said it was installing permissions, it didn't say that it was completely finished, just installing permissions or something, but I was able to press next.
After rebooting, it started the stock android boot animation, got to the upgrading applications screen, after the applications were done "optimizing" it went back into the stock android boot animation. It never came out of it.
I'm confused as to what I am doing wrong.. I've flashed ROMs multiple times and I thought this one would be the easiest out of all of them considering I didn't care about the data on it and I'm just playing around.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Fixed.. I'm an idiot

Well, I kept working on it and I think I was just impatient. Maybe. Either way I went back and tried to reflash several times, doing the wipes from the wipe screen each time. No luck. Eventually I went and formatted the /system /data and all the other options in the mount/storage menu. I then did all the "wipes" again and reflashed. It worked this time! Running incredibly smoothly.
Thanks for reading everyone.
