I've got CM 10.1(20130709) running on my Defy+ and Gapps(gapps-jb4.2-20130301 by TJKV). How do I get offline voice recognition? I've read this thread and couldn't understand what needs to done.
Download the voice pack
Using root file explorer, link the voice pack(en-US) folder to /system/usr/srec
Also try the app utter voice commands on play store

Seems like all it takes is the Google search app from play store. No need for the tedious linking/complex commands

I'm using the Google Search app from the Play Store. I can't find the option to download offline voice packs anywhere.

Actually, no, based on my attempt! I already have this version of Google Search, but no Offline Recognition option to choose from, unless I'm missing something?
Exact same issue I faced. I had posted that without trying it out.

Hey guys quick thing I noticed. The Android google voice app had stopped working so I went to reinstall and it was nowhere to be found in the Android Market as well as Maps. Can anyone confirm?

Are you talking about the text to speech one or the voice-mail one?
Google Voice is on the market for me.
Im talking about the one that let's you text and call from your google voice account

Try using an app that fixes market permissions, I know Chainfire3D will.

I already took a look to the code of the SDK Version of JellyBean. It's not just an .APK, so it's a bit difficult. But I'm shure, anybody will port it anywhen.
That qwould be a great achivement indead , and i strongly hope it will happen soon !

There is a thread which has already made some progress. Unfortunately, Jelly Bean has a newer API than ICS, so there's a lot of work to be done. To install it, you'll need root and need to remove the google search apk (it has 'quicksearchbox' in the name) in /system/app. The member that ported it disabled voice recognition because it causes force closes. Luckily, you can type stuff in and it works. Check it out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
Read through all the pages before attempting because you don't want to screw anything up.

You can use voice input Swift key or Swype. I have it on my phone and it works pretty well. Make sure you backup the apk before you overwrite it.

Dont have that one
Is there any chance this happens because i'm not from the US? im from latin america
if so any way i could get it?
I doubt this will work in Latin America. I saw a pulled apk of this somewhere in the forums.
You could sideload it probably without issue but hen Google would see your IP and likely tell you it isn't supported.
Its no big deal anyway.
Sound hound , shazam, etc... same type.

They've changed name. I remember downloading GoogleEars.apk few months back on here. When I googled it, I got sound search instead. It can't recognize humming or things that you sing to it. Still using SoundHound.
It's there but you need to use Titanium Backup to defrost it - and again after every reboot.
seems that i'll need to buy shazam, thanks anyways

I found Google Ears / Sound Search to be way quicker than Shazam.
It's just fiy, download the launcher from any source that you like, no need to install any search.apk, enjoy!
I hope the info made some of u waiting for KitKat happy who would've never checked if its working again(as there was no Intel search.apk).
Thanks mate now using.
And working well

Please be aware there is two different versions; Google Now launcher and AOSP version called "Launcher3" without Google Now on the left. Do you have an APK? As the Google Now launchers I'm downloading are throwing back a "Parse Error" with the latest version of Search.
EDIT: He is correct, full Google Now Launcher working. Here is the link: http://d-h.st/f6b

I had to re-update Google Play Services and Google Search from the play store to get it working.
Maybe we have to install only "GoogleHome.apk" and it should be ok.

Yes that's all that is needed to be done.
Do the relevant updates from the play store.
Then just download from the link above unzip and install just Google home

The thing is that this new update let's you activate the app from the lockscreen...
Like bellow:

I can activate google now from anywhere, including the app drawer and lock screen.

No it is bound to the Google now and the best reason to use it is the nice Google now implementation.

I'm not sure it works for everyone. Can you just go through the language settings and chuck the language which is enabled"Because most of the times it works only with US English.I tried other english versions but it didn't worked for me.

Just install "OK Google for 3rd party activities" module, only works with Kit Kat, after installing clear Google search data. No battery drain or other issues.
