[Q] Custom notification sounds display in google music - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to get back the notification sounds I love and whenever I place them in the Notifications (or media/audio/notifications), they are addable in the sounds -> notification menu (have to use the plus button to add to the general list), but they also show up in Google Music. In the past, files in Notifications have not shown up in GMusic.
Tried adding a .nomedia folder, they don't show up as addable sounds then, same with hiding them all with the . prefix.
Anyone figure this out?

Calendar Notification Sound

What sound is played for calendar notifications? How do I change it?
Fire up calendar, menu button, more, settings, change ringtone?
It's a special Samsung alert, and unfortunately doesn't seem it can be changed. One of the many issues w/Sammy calendar. Others have dl'd third-party alert apps as a workaround (see related threads).
@dcontrol, I have tried the menu button while in the calendar app and I did not see an option to change/disable the calendar notifications.
@pavvy, thanks. I think you are right. What is that sound, anyway? Frying bacon? I'm gonna try and find a decent 3rd party app as a workaround. Can anyone recommend a decent one?
If your phone is rooted you can change the file it plays directly.

Can't change notification sound!

I just recently decided to change my notification sound from the Growing Mushroom on Mario to the "Message" quote from Don't be a Menace. My phone won't let me change my notification sound to ANYTHING! Is there something I'm doing wrong? A setting I'm overlooking? Please help...

I was just playing with the notification sounds.
One way I got my sound files to show up in the notifications sounds list is by creating a folder named "notifications" in the root folder of my sdcard and putting the files in there.
Other than that option I don't know how to get the files onto the phone memory. The issue with that is if I remove the sdcard the notification sounds won't play anymore.
I also don't know how to move(delete)/add sound files to the phone's default notification sounds..if anyone could share that too
Im pretty sure if you use Ringdroid from the market, you can save your sound as a ringtone or notification and they will show up in the default list of sounds.
That's the thing! They're available to choose as my notification tone, but after I set the new tone and I get a text, it's the same one I had before. It doesn't change!!!
Ex: my notification tone is twinkle twinkle little star and I decide to change it to three blind mice. I go to my options and change the setting to three blind mice. After saving it, I get a text and twinkle twinkle little star plays. I've checked on my sd card and it's on there. Even if I chose to one of the phone's default notification tones it still won't play when I get a text!!!

If you are using the stock notifications try using Ringo Lite form the market.. just turn all other notifications off

Notifications sounds not working

I'm using 6.2 rooted with gtalk, I get notifications but no sound. I tried setting up sound settings, but it always goes back to off (the slider for notifications going all the way low).
Anyone else having this issue?
Also on the top right it shows the sound icon with an "x" on it, meaning its on silent. When I play videos or games the sound is perfectly fine, just with notifications in having this issue.
There is this topic already existing. Try to search and find it.

[WIDGET][ICS] NotificationBrowser

Here I present a program called Notification Browser. It will show a list of all received notifications and tries to extract the info and show it as a list. Also a widget is included. Tapping the notification should start the corresponding intent and tapping the garbage bin icon should delete the notification from the list. The idea was to be able to have a full screen launcher and even then having easy access to notifications.
For it to work, you need to go to accessibility settings and enable Notification browser.

Notification sounds

Hi! I was wondering, is there any way to turn off the sound on notifications for all apps (like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc) but still have the phone ring when someone calls me? I have either WiFi or data on all the time, and I get lots of notifications that aren't that urgent. I would like those to vibrate, but have the phone ring, since usually calls are more important than a YouTube video notification, for example. I couldn't find any way to do so in the settings nor did I find a third party app to help with my request. Any advice would be much appreciated
I would say that the most easy way is to create a sound file with total silence and use it as the default notification sound. Some apps have separate notification settings, you might need to disable sound (or select the same "silent sound") in the app itself.
If you want more customization options, autonotification app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autonotification&hl=en) is your friend
If you just long press it in the notification bar when it arrives you can set up exactly the type of notification you want from that app, it does not take log and as time goes by you get less and less, some you might want a special sound others vibrate, some show in status bar others not, its custom for each app.
