Hi, just a quick question.
I've got the new Facebook Messenger app with working SMS and chat heads.
I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the Facebook Messages would be threaded with SMS, so green bubble, blue bubble, etc. If you're offline, it'll send a text, etc.
However, if I'm talking to someone and then choose to SMS, I can create two chat heads for the same person. Is there away to combine these contacts so SMS and Facebook messages become threaded?
Cheers,

I heard someone else complaining of this, so I imagine they keep them separate on purpose but I can't say for sure.
Hmm, I don't know why I can't get it working. I even reinstalled it but there's no option for chat heads anywhere.

I managed to get it working perfectly but I'm rooted, running CM 10.1. Tap and hold a message, a popup comes up and then you hit 'pop out chat head'.

maybe you have logined on several client, the hangouts will notify only one time!
I have the same issue across multiple accounts and devices. all unique accounts. all on latest stable software
Galaxy Nexus
Nexus 4
Nexus 10
Same here beyond annoying.
Notification Issues
I noticed that my lack of notifications was only happening with one contact. Everyone else who messaged me would come through just fine, but my wife's messages would come through without a peep. I finally did figure out what was wrong and wanted to share that here in case it helps any of you.
Specifically, although we'd installed and used Hangouts on her Nexus, in the Gmail desktop site, she hadn't click the "Try Hangouts Now" button (left click on your account's picture in the Gmail buddy list). Once I clicked that, all of her messages now resulted in notifications on my devices. Long story short, if you're having issues with notifications, see if the person messaging you is still using "Talk". A bit silly that Google didnt move her account over to Hangouts once she installed the mobile app, but oh well.
Hope this helps.
can I ask a stupid question - is hangouts allowing for text messaging now?

I just confirmed that "Hangouts" does allow instant messaging - it does not hit your text messages (but it does hit your data). the other person must also have "hangouts" installed too in order for you to communicate with them via this app

thanks for clearing some things up for certain users! but is anyone else experiencing this problem besides us.
I am experiencing this too, but seem to have noticed a trend. I do get notifications but only on the device that I most recently used to send the message (not both devices like it should). For example at 1 PM, I send a hangout message to another person from my Galaxy S3, they respond at 1:30 PM and it notifies my GS3 but not my Nexus 7. At 1:45 PM I then respond to their previous message from my Nexus 7, and they respond at 2 PM with only my Nexus 7 receiving the notification. Not sure if this is just coincidence but that's what I've noticed so far.
I'm on a Nexus 4 CM 10.1 (initially RC2, now most recent nightly) w/ Nova Launcher running and get no notifications that I've been messaged. In fact, if I chat with someone via Gmail and then check in the hangouts phone app, it will typically not include the chat that was done on my desktop. This is really irritating. Uninstalled updates back to talk for now.

I had same problem with Hangouts, it coming after upgrading to 4.4.4
What I've found on some forums and working for me:
1. Move all hangouts ogg giles from sdcard(emulated)/ ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones
to do this you have to go to twrp , mount system and use file manager inside twrp
2. Got it working with :
Settings --> Sounds --> Volume --> Volumes --> Uncheck "Link ringtone and notification volumes".
Then an additional choice appears for the Notifications.
After that I started to get the sounds when notifications arrived. I rechecked the "Link ringtone and notifications" and the volume still worked.
Seems like something that needed to be initialized once.
I've had my Nexus 4 for about 6 months now and everything's been working great but over the last few weeks my text messages have been hanging on sending. It doesn't send me a notification that says my text fail to send. Just the message I sent is stuck in sending. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Completely stock and using the stock messaging app.
Thanks in advance.

I'd check the APN's to make sure they're correct. If that fails, have your provider refresh your profile.
Happened with my n4 once... But it was not persistent ..however my message app never tried resending it , dont know why.. I deleted that message and tried sending another one it worked... I believe u are in a low signal zone when this happens.. not totally a software thing...

I seem to have some texting problems... after receiving a text when I text back right away for some reason my replies pop up before the message I just eceived. Ie. Msgs arent in chronological order. Its not much but jus annoying. Anyone else with the same problem?

Sounds like a problem with the clock. Do you have Network Provided Time checked?
I have two nexus 4's one running CM11 and the other rastakat and both have begun to show constantly the error "message not sent" nothing on the phones has changed both use T-Mobile. The text messaging app and the messages still get sent with this notification error. I've tried alternate SMS apps and also wiping the cache for the MMS.apk.
Any ideas guys?

Check your APN settings to make sure you have correct settings. Search t-mobile APN setings if you are unsure
Double checked the APN and it's something else
