So I've noticed that if I initially tap the quick remote its just a blank area. If I then open it fully up, the next time it opens it will show in the notification pull down. Anyone else get this?

So I'm loading up Zen XP ROM on my Hero and go through the set up. When It's done and I get to my home screen I see a sprint icon up in the notification bar. I drag it down click on it and the market opens up. After I click through the TOS I get an item not found error. Weird.
interesting indeed
The message in notifications window was click for an offer from sprint

I've got a rooted G2 with CyanogenMod, and I somehow replaced the phone icon in the launcher "dock" with the maps icon... I have no idea how to fix it. ;_;

Long press on home screen and make a short cut to the "phone" app. Then long press on that shortcut you just made and drag it to the desired position on the dock bar.

Thank you! I would have figured it out sooner or later, but I kept trying to do things that I could see easily happening in my pocket.
Why when a message is displayed on my lockscreen, clicking it creates a box below that i then have to swipe on to unlock the phone in the messages app?
What's the point of creating that faded box? why not just open the app when i click on the text message?
I agree it's very annoying...

This is happening even with no lock on the screen - just swipe to unlock? I don't know because I have a pattern lock and assumed it was just for security but if you keep your phone unlocked and it's still happening then I agree, it's stupid. No lockscreen widgets when using any kind of security is also stupid in my opinion.

I only have swipe to unlock and it happens on it..
Seriously a 'feature' I can do without..
I think it would be nice if you could swipe the message notification on the lock screen to open that message. Similar to the S3.

I agree. Now that option only appears if you have your lockscreen timeout set for a few minutes and you manually lock the screen. When you unlock within the timeout period it will show your lockscreen widgets and you can swipe them to go right into that app.
Someone at Samsung over thought this one.

I agree. I liked when they had the puzzle piece, and you swiped to "complete" the puzzle, and that would take you to the message. I think that was back on the S2?
I just drag notification bar down then click the message.

you press the notification then swipe in that box and it will take you the message
Guys, all you have to do is swipe down the box to open the message or view the call log (if it was a missed call).

Don't blame Samsung for this, it's an Android 4.2 "feature".

Thank you captain obvious :silly:
Of course that's "all you have to do". But my point is that it's silly that it creates that box in the first place after you click the message. It looks like they tried to implement something then quit halfway through.

You're not understanding... That transparent box does not show if you do it right. When I get a text message, a small message box will appear, I swipe it down to the bottom of the screen and it takes me directly to the messaging app.
EDIT: It's more of a tap then pull, I should make a video...

yes i can make that happen too.. i still dont get the box though.. why is it there in the first place.. what are they trying to do here?
Once the box is there, you can swipe left or right for other widgets if you have multi widgets in settings setup

You know how if you hover your finger over a picture in the gallery or an item in your calender or an SMS, you'll get a pop up of it?
Well I used to be able to do that to emails and whats app messages in the notification menu. The thing you pull down from the top when you get a notification.
Now I cant see those pop ups with air view.
How did it get disabled?
Pull down your notif bar>long press air view
You'll find a looot of things to tick and untick there

I didnt get it.
What do you mean?
My problem is that before, if I got an email or a whatsapp message, I hover my finger over the notification of the message in the notification pulldown menu, I can see the message.
I already have "information preview" enabled in the Air View menu.
I used to be able to do Air View over notifications like gmailor whatsapp, but now I cant.
You have to enable "information preview" under airview settings.

Yes I could see pop ups.
So if I got a whatsup message, I hover my finger over it and a pop up window (like in SMS for example) appears with the message. It was very handy.
Same thing for gmail emails.
Suddenly it stopped working.

What was a fluke?
It worked for 4 days.
I even showed it to a friend and he tried it on his S4 in front of me and it worked.
Then suddenly it stopped working.
I've been trying every time I get a notification all day since that day.
Even when it did work, it was sorta random. Sometimes it'd work and sometimes it wouldn't.

Hm. Strange. Perhaps you could try a nandroid backup then factory reset to see if it works again?
no one else had air view for notifications?
No Air View in the standard email app
LastPass was the culprit for me. Disabling it in Accessibility gave me back my Air View in the standard email app. So to any that are having issues with Air View not working it is most certainly an app. First look at anything in Accessibility that is associated with any app that you've added and disable it.
On 4.2.2 MGA (and older chrome version) airview worked as mouseover, it was SOOO good popup menus etc.
It didn't work all the time though.
Had random occurrences too when it's worked in other non samsung apps like WhatsApp like you said. Also when I used a remote desktop I could move the Windows pointer around without even touching the screen! But I've searched and searched and no one seems to have a definite answer how and why!!

Hi,
Same here! I was on 4.2.2 stock on my S4 GT-i9505 for about a year, i used to preview Facebook comments, Whatsapp messages just hovering my finger and a pop-up showed the entire message. But since I upgraded to 4.4.2 , i missed that!
Anyone solved this?! :good:
edit: remember that on 4.2.2 i could preview the messages only if i pull down the notifications with the SCREEN LOCKED (slide to unlock) and then hovering my finger.

Hey fellas! I just recorded a video showing that feature on Facebook notification in S4 Wanamlite Kit Kat ROM. But for some reason it shows for a few mili-seconds. browse on youtube for "air view hovering facebook notifications"
So, thats possible to expand notifications just hovering the finger. Just need a fix to pop-up remains for a long time!
Anyone?! :good:

Air Gestures will let you navigate by waving your hand. Instead of swiping your finger from picture to picture in your gallery, you can wave your hand instead. You can even answer your phone without picking it up. You will find quick on/off toggles for both Air View and Air Gestures in your notification pull down, but you might need to fine tune the settings a little. Just hit the break for our video showing you how to set them up and how to use them.

I'm getting daily spam messages.
Please see the icon in the upper tray to the left.
The Header says:
'New Incoming Message'
I'm not using the Samsung messaging app as default.
I'm not seeing this message in Go SMS or the Samsung messaging app.
When I pull down the drop down, I see the message from a web address, and when I press it, it takes me to the website.
What is that icon to the left and what app is this, and how do I block these morons from sending me their spam?
looks like the O for opera.. Is that installed?
Hi. Yes, I am using Opera as my browser.
It could be that.. id uninstall and see if that stops it..

I think it's related to Samsung somehow, as the symbol is within a grey circle in the drop down screen, similar to other Samsung apps.
Edit:
See attached photo........
Edit #2:
If it does have anything to do with Opera, I just went into Settings/Notifications and changed the setting to 'Denied.'
Ultimately, I'd like to block the morons, if possible.
Pull down the notification shade, long press on that notification, and that should end this mystery.

Thanks for that. I haven't received anymore spam since denying notifications, but if I do, I'll be sure to hard press it.
