Has anyone else has trouble changing the wallpaper and then having the status bar and the soft keys lose their transparency?
Or better yet, has anyone been successful in changing their wallpaper and keeping they're transparency settings? I'm having trouble pinpointing the cause, because it doesn't always happen right away...
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

And transparency doesn't work with Apex, etc. (along with some other things which Apex does not get right.)
Yeah I solved part of the problem, I think.. Because even the preloaded ones were having issues. I had a wallpaper app (great wallpapers, just doesn't seem compatible) that seemed to mess everything up with the build prop I suppose. I love how expansive the screen looks - so I rather just choose from the preloaded ones and still have the transparency on the top and bottom.
By the way, I have the T-Mobile one (got it online). I also downloaded the Verizon wallpapers and they work fine.

Ok, that s***s right. This feature is borrowed from the S4's i guess. I like it all transparent too. I don't have the phone yet but if your phone is rooted using file explorer go to system-->customize-->resource there you should see the stock wallpapers. Try replacing one of the wallpaers with yours and see if that keeps the transparency. Not sure about the process but give it try if you like.

Try searching under system-->customize-->resource using es file explorer. If they are not there simply search for the stock wallpaper names and look up their properties for the location.

Yeah, I think I'm getting more into the bottom of this. For starters, the main reason I had the issue before was due to the wallpaper app. Using the native wallpaper adjuster, I've been able to at least keep the transparency when using stock wallpapers (from other models, like I mentioned). Additionally, I just noticed that it will also keep the transparency if you use a photo taken with the camera.
After I deleted the wallpaper app though it's been working better.
Nahh.. Just kidding. Setting my own photos keeps my transparency for the soft keys (arguably the most important part, since it's the larger of the two), but leaves the transparency of the status bar at about 50%.
I can live with that. I'm guessing that with root and a decent ROM this "bug" could be taken care of. Thanks with the help this far though.

Ok now i downloaded the stock wallpapers from the theme section and looked up for their names. In the picture below look for the stock image names. Try searching one of the names using softwares like "ES File explorer". It should locate the wallpaper, if it does look for the properties.
Let me know if it works.
http://postimg.org/image/rjrmhzza9/
Here is a little trick I ran across. The lock screen wallpaper inherits the transparency attributes from the main screen. So if I put my own pic on lock screen, it will have transparency if home page is transparent. There may be more to it, but that is all I have seen to date.

So essentially with this app you can change the icons on your toolbar, settings bar, etc.. which folder are the png's in? Been looking into system/framework/framework-res/res
Your on the right track, just a couple more.
System/framework/framework_res/drawable_MDPI
But for some like wifi strength or signal and the three on the left, those are in the SystemUI.apk like this
system/app/systemui.apk
After finishing systemui you will get constant f/C's, I just powered off and back on. That happened on the phone too and had to do battery pulls when I did it on the phone, while the force close pop up is up just hold down the power button and it will ask if you want to shut down, click yes and it will power down and should power up normally.

Anyone know where to find some good png's? to change some of the icons on the tab.
Like the back, home, applications icons.

just need images to change them with.
I went to XOOM theme forum and found a couple themes there to take the images from.

Thanks, yea they have alot of themes. Just took the images & placed them on my internal SD card, easy to switch out with ninjamorph can't seem to find the "halo" on the lock screen though so I can edit. Know which directory it's in?
Either at the very bottom of framework_res/res/drawable_mdpi for the Acer, and drawable_extra-large_mdpi for the XOOM

Icons wont change
Hey guys,
weird question. I'm running a Gingerbread mod and I updated the Wifi and Signal icons in SystemUI.apk, rebooted into recovery and copied over via ADB so nothing was in use by the system.
Now when I boot up, I get regular icons. I assumed it was something to do with the xml files, though when I open these, they're not exactly human readable.
Any ideas?

There are other threads that explain how to do this. But in a nutshell, you need a file explorer (one that can change rw to r- r) - i use root explorer - and without installing the launcher apk just move it to /system/app and install it in there. Restart kindle. Boom.

I'm not home so i can't try it, but give Backgrounds HD Wallpapers from the Play Store a try. It's worked on every device I've tried it on. It has a bunch of wallpapers included and you can download more right from the app (no, I'm not the app DEV!).
I haven't been able to set a wallpaper either - I tried the ICS Gallery from Play and it gave me a "can not save cropped picture" error. Didn't think of this app until I got to the office!
I will try Backgrounds when I get home and let you all know if it works or not (unless I get sidetracked and go to the bar first!_). In that case, it won't be until tomorrow!
I can report that Backgrounds HD Wallpapers works great. It's a big app though.

It was 35 seconds after setup that TW went bye bye and Nova prime went instead. How can people work with this awful TW launcher ? Never liked it. Moved from S2 to S4 and TW on the S2 was worse. black notification bar is OK.
Other than that I love Samsung- phone , series9 laptop, Desktop wireless screen and TV. They know their sh*t with hardware, but as far as software, not my cup of tea.
There's an app called Super status bar that may alleviate that issue but I haven't played with it yet
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
You can maintain the transparent notification if you decompile the SystemUI.apk, look for res/values/drawables.xml, and change the status bar background to "000000." (The first numbers are the opacity of the status bar, so you can set them to whatever you want in hexadecimal if you want just a little shade so you can see white icons on white background)
(Again, I added a little bit of shade for my icons- this is set to 230000. If you set it to 000000, it'll be completely invisible)

Ahh, thought that Nova had auto updated to the latest version, which would have been the beta you were talking about, but I'm still on the stable 2.0.2 it seems.... well, once they figure out what the bugs are with having to go back and re-disable Show Shadow like you were saying, they'll put it through to a stable version - I'm not too concerned right now, I'd just like to be able to play with the notification bar to see if the theming we're working on looks alright on a transparent bar!
Yeah, it's a little buggy, but no need to go and check/uncheck. Just open and close the app drawer to get the transparency back. I'm sure they'll work it out. The Dev responded to my question about this in about 15 minutes. Very responsive.

Or doesn't change the app drawer icon though, which is the goal of this whole post. Check out your app drawer icon in the picture, its still gray with the white squares. So is mine, plus changing my dpi changes up its size.

You would have to find a set of icons to match the clock font and then edit the 120 or so icons yourself to then match the color. As far as higher resolution, these are XDPI which was the highest available within the app they were pulled from. Once XXDPI becomes available in the app I pulled the png's from, then I'll add them. But what you see is what you get basically. If you can find better icons and want to edit them, I'll be more than happy to add them.

Great Job Fuzzy. I have a question for everyone though since I can't seem to find the answer anywhere - does anyone know the refresh interval for this app? It's very difficult to find if at all even possible.

That's a good question. I honestly don't know. It's always right I know that. It refreshes upon opening but written the phone is asleep I'm not sure. 30 minutes is usually the norm.
So after going back and looking, you can see the update time in the notification. So you can let it manually refresh and then see how long it took.

Hello,
I downloaded from the mirror link and the icon is purple, how do you make it transparent?
My icon is blue.
Screenshot so I can see?
As y'all can tell by the screenshot in the op, they are supposed to be white so I'm not sure what is wrong.

It will update but you'll lose the icons. I'll try to keep it updated promptly.
Sharing settings changed for drive. Wish it would default to public.

NICE!!! Very cool. I also am very picky. Installed and all good
Thanks for creating this mod. I was revisiting weather apps to see which one is best at the moment. I thought yahoo weather was probably the best for me until I saw the purple notification icons. I was just about to uninstall but thought I'd do a quick Google search first... Glad I did!
There's an update of the app on the play store from a few days ago, any chance of an update?
Thanks

Think you may have misinterpreted what I meant all I was saying is that this mod has solved the only problem I had with the original app and saying thanks.
I was also mentioning that the app has been updated on the play store, as people may not be aware.
Great work OP, looking forward to updates

Could you use weatherbugs icons? They're perfect.
