PSA: Google wallet just installed - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running liquid smooth 2.9. Wallet just installed but unsure if the pay feature actually works. I guess there was an update.

Confirmed working CM10.1.3 RC2
No confirmation on tap-to-pay, will test later.
I think it *might* work. The reason it doesn't need NFC on is explained here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-wallet-update-redefines-apps-purpose/
But, since on the custom ROMs, we do have a secure element it can access (watching logcat says so at least), it might work. might.

Have added checking account and card. Holy **** this is exciting.

i can confirm that I just downloaded and installed the app on 4.2.2. I have yet to try it (though I doubt I will try it any time soon).

Yeah there aren't many places with the POI nfc station things. So idk where to test it.

Sorry to ask OT, but do people REALLY trust puting their credit card and banking information on their cellphone, much less trusting GOOGLE with this info?
Hypothetically, say you left your phone sitting at the office or at the bus station. You hardly have it on your person at alll times, not one to have your face stuck in it every 3 seconds (like most users.) Your house is 40 minutes away from wherever you left your device. That's a lot of time for someone to notice it sitting there, go through your apps, notice your information stored on it and BAM your broke. I know I know, there are measures in place like pins and passwords and locks and whatever, its just a story.
Im not the nosy type, nor a theif or some crazed worry-wart, but the way technology is growing people are aware that these apps and features are available. If I WERE one of the scumbags, with the knowledge base I have on these devices, that would be the FIRST thing I'd look for and I know how to find it. Yea you can stop the access from any other device but again that takes time, time that your cash and identity don't have.
Google Wallet, NFC payments and banks...no thanks!

No way to see your credit card info via Wallet - it's blanked out except for the last 4 digits. Unless someone's gonna break the PIN (statistically improbable) they can't do anything. Even if they do, all they could really do was buy a bunch of coffee or something.
Unless you're stupid with your PIN (like 1234 or your birthday or something) statistically speaking, you can probably deauthorize the device before someone could break it. If you are stupid with your PIN, you deserve what happens for using an insecure code with financial stuff... Also, for the record, if you're buying stuff from Google Play, you're already trusting Google with this info
EDIT: Attempted to buy some stuff at a self-checkout at Meijers... I believe it *might* work. It didn't work then, but I got an error about a bad llc length. I suspect I may not have scanned it correctly.
CM10.1 and NFCEE access was given. No errors in logcat either, only that warning. I think we're close here guys...

It should, if it works. Those work with my gnex and N7 so, assuming it's compatible, it should work there. Might want to bring cash in case though so you don't look like a fool if it doesn't. Also, make sure the green light is on

really, I have no use for GWallet, as I always carry my wallet/credit card with me. as for sending money to folks electronically, paypal does that for free. also, my bank offers that as well for free.

Google Drive

Not really phone related, in a direct fashion, but oh well.
I've just opened my Google Drive account, and I'm seeing that we can create public links. Therefor, I will be transferring all of my files (actually, I'm transferring them as I type this) to Drive. All of my posts where I link files will be changed to Drive links. I would suggest that the developers do the same, if they can. 5gb free storage, and the ability to share directly with other drive members (Kind of a joint folder), seems pretty nice. I'm not sure if they will '509' traffic, a la dropbox, but I have sent a message to Drive asking about it.
Just food for thought for those who wish to consider it. I'll keep this post updated, as I use Drive with the pro/cons I've found for the program, as I go.

Not sure how true but rumor has it Google can do what they want with any files, etc stored there, according to their terms and conditions. Probably shouldn't be an issue but never know.

Some of our Services allow you to submit content. You retain ownership of any intellectual property rights that you hold in that content. In short, what belongs to you stays yours.
When you upload or otherwise submit content to our Services, you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works (such as those resulting from translations, adaptations or other changes we make so that your content works better with our Services), communicate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such content. The rights you grant in this license are for the limited purpose of operating, promoting, and improving our Services, and to develop new ones. This license continues even if you stop using our Services (for example, for a business listing you have added to Google Maps). Some Services may offer you ways to access and remove content that has been provided to that Service. Also, in some of our Services, there are terms or settings that narrow the scope of our use of the content submitted in those Services. Make sure you have the necessary rights to grant us this license for any content that you submit to our Services.
^^ That is what you are probably referring to.
Essentially, they are saying that you are giving them permission to post your content on google plus, or publish your location on google maps, and what not. They aren't selling your content or giving it to people for no apparent reason. I'd imagine that they also use it if it is subpoenaed for prosecution... Essentially if you aren't doing anything wrong, you don't have to worry about it.
Yeah, like I said heard rumors through posts about it, haven't actually read the tos myself since at this time not thinking of signing on, satisfied for time being with box and dropbox.

I feel like Google Drive is going to be useful once app developers start taking advantage of the API. Give game apps permission to access drive, upload your saved game data so it isn't lost. Same with other apps. Upload and backup important data to your drive account so you can access anywhere if needed, and restore it to another phone.
I shall be deleting dropbox...

[Bounty] Adamoutler Unlock bootloader

Sorry for Confusion. Bounty Fully met. Thanks anonymous donator.
#update1 Adam pulled files from me yesterday he said he wanted to try something. Also he has ordered his device.
#update2 Adam's work can be followed on this page.
So, the man is not only being offered $1400 for his skills if he can pull this off, but also being handed the device to do it? Sounds like win/win. Count me in when I get home. Chipin is failing on my phone.

I have to admit you guys made that old piece of s*** amazon firmware into something I never thought could work. you made that kindle into something that I never thought it could be but still I have to admit the nexus 7 is just so much better and I'll probably still be here but I'm gonna be over the nexus seven forums more. If you are truly paranoid...you would not be on this board. I love my KF...and Android....and Google. Does @pple offer anything open source? You have to sign up for EVERYTHING nowadays, so how does one omit themselves from the data collection? Get off everything and live off the grid. I'd rather mull around and see what trouble I can cause, and devices I can root. I'm getting the N7 too...but my KF still has years of use in my household. All I have to do is leave it in plain sight, and people gravitate like monkies to bananers.

Uhhh.... Apple tracking fiasco? Are you talking about the one where Google circumvented Safari's privacy settings and was subsequently fined 4 million for?
Google is doing some scary stuff if u want to look at the privacy settings for Chrome extensions made by Google. I completely understand the viewpoint of wanting nothing to do with Google. I no longer use Gmail or Google Docs for this reason.
I'm willing to take some privacy risks because Android is better than iOS.

Dropbox 25GB+ Giveaway

If anyone has a dropbox account, I am willing to give you an extra 25GB. I have 4 HTC onex which will allow me to add 25gb on top of your dropbox account. I bought these phones for family back in Nepal, since it is a gift and knowing that they don't have good Internet I have decided to use the dropbox 25gb for myself. I would only apply the promotion if you have the samsung promotion already applied to your account and also I want to know why you would need the 25 gb on top of your 50gb. 50gb should be enough for most of you but give me a reason and I will apply the 23gb.
Pm me your email and change the pass to: xdagiveaway. Plus please don't make a new account and ask me to apply it to your account, go buy a device. If you smell something fishy here then don't bother.
thank you.

Well if anyone around here knows fishy, it's me. (See what I did there? )
OP, you've created an account, breached our rules immediately and then gone on to call somebody a **** for pointing out how ludicrous this whole thing is.
Do not pass GO, do not collect any passwords.

Read passports with NFC

I hadn't read this before, yesterday I happened to put my phone on my passport and the NFC sound emitted, I chose the app "NFC tag info" which informed me that if you enter the DOB, expiry date and passport number that it can decrypt it, which it did, including a copy of the picture. So I've now done a backup of my passport to an XML file, might be useful if I lose it while abroad.
Think positive man
But I don't think authorities would believe in that as a fake one could be made..

Better than nothing though, A friend of mine got back into the UK with a library membership card when he lost his passport.

Wow. You can bypass national security with your local library card? LOL! That's troubling.

I keep pictures and scans of all my impotrant documents at Dropbox, and also attached to an email that I´ve sent to myself. You never know when it´s going to be useful.

I didn´t say that I share it. Where did you read that?. Maybe you don´t know that you can keep files private at Dropbox.

You got it wrong. I meant you are telling public that you keep your important information on dropbox

Well, I don´t keep credit card numbers and pin, just copy of ID, passport and driving license, in my private Dropbox account. There´s no need to be ultra-paranoid I think.
