AT&T Version Turn LTE Off? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to do it? To switch it to 3G/2G?
Please no posts saying "why would you wanna do that?!".

I didn't have any luck. Hopefully someone can figure out how.

I dug around in 3845#*800#
There is no RAT selection under the CDMAOnly or LTE-Only menus.
Hope some one can find this, really need to kill LTE at work.

In particular one to bring up a menu to turn off LTE.
Cheers
You can dial 3845#*(model number)#
This brings you to the hidden menu and allows you to disable LTE and more. I used it to disable thermal throttling and fast dormancy. My version is the Att one so I dialed 3845#*800#
Hope that helps.

Thanks mate. yea this works 3845#*802# for my Expansys.co.nz purchased LG G2 D802 international. that said where/how do you configure/check LTE isn't on? Alot of menu settings that quite frankly make me nervous so any help on narrowing down the setting would be appreciated.

Hi to all!!
Sorry to bring up an old post but I thought it was the right place to do so!
I have a 801 converted to 803 (rooted with lolipop installed 5.0.2) SP is Videotron in Montreal, Canada... The hidden menu was accessible before but now, I can't acces it... Tells me It can't connect, incorrect IHM...
Any ideas on how I could solve this problem?!
Thanks in advance for the help!
Hi I ve AT&T d800 5.0.2 with root. I remove AT&T adress book with titanium backup and now there is telephone contact. When I go contacts settings and contacts to display there is not telephone bar there. How can I fix this problem Thanks
Open your phone’s dial pad and type the following code: 3845#*<model number>#. For example, type-
3845#*800# (for At&T model)
3845#*801# (for T-Mobile variants)
3845#*802# (for European variants)
3845#*803# (for AT&T and Canadian variants)
5689#*980# (for Sprint LG G2)

[How to] Disable LTE or 4G

This is useful if you have a weak LTE signal or just don't need it always on. I found this tutorial on a different website for another galaxy phone and it works on the Note 3.
1. Turn off your phone and take out your sim card.
2. Turn on your phone with no sim card and wait a minute or two for it to turn on and settle down.
3. Go to the dialer and dial *#2263#
You should see a menu with band selections. The current setting is "Automatic".
(You have to use the menu key to select your options by using "Key Input" to type the number you want)
If you switch to "GSM All", you will be EDGE (2G).
If you switch to "WCDMA All", you will be on HSPA+ (3G, though AT&T and others call it 4G).
4) Power off the phone again and put your sim card back. Upon reboot you should see your new setting in effect.
I get a service mode that says rat selection is restricted...
However *#*#4636#*#* will allow you to select whatever band you so choose. Although lte only doesn't allow voice calls

If your sim card is out when trying to access the menu it shouldn't say restricted.

Thank you inmotion! This code actually worked better for me on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I didn't even have to pull out my SIM card or reboot. Just dial in the code, go to Device Info and change the preferred radio network type. It changes the radio on the fly in real time, and can be seen at the top.
Since Android 4.3 and on the option to disable LTE/4G has been removed from all AT&T Android devices.

Actually it was before that. Could not do it on my note 1. Would always get RAT restricted. This was on at&t. Other networks were able to use those codes and make the switch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
1. Download the free Phone info app from the Google Play Store and install it
2. Choose the Phone Information tab and notice the "Set preferred network type" option at the bottom, marked with an arrow at the right of the drop-down menu
3. Tap on the preferred network listing currently in use, and choose the "CDMA auto (PRL)" option from the drop-down list
4. You should be now maintaining connection to only Verizon's 3G network, and whenever you need to use data, you can switch back to LTE for the duration of it
There are numerous other apps and widgets at the Play Store that claim to do the 2G/3G/4G switch, but many users on Verizon have confirmed the Phone info app to be the only method allowing them to reliably turn off the 4G LTE on their Samsung Galaxy S IIIs.

If you're already rooted go to data/property ,find the persist.radio.lteon.xml file. Open it in Text Editor and if the value that is written is false, change it to true. Save and exit and reboot. Thats it

Rooting has many benefits. The main reason I do it is to uninstall all the bloatware that Samsung saddles you with. My Note 3 came with 25+ useless apps that I can't delete. That's not even counting the 7 that T-Mobile sticks on here. Most of them don't run all the time, but a few do. Like Magazine and the also useless Samsung Siri knockoff. I just use Google voice instead. Another advantage to rooting it would be all the customization options that you would have.

How to determine what LTE spectrum you're on?

Is there any app available to see what LTE spectrum you're on? The new AWS spectrum is ridiculously fast and it would be cool to know if you're on it or not without running a speed test. Any info would be appreciated.

Wow, I'd say. Very impressive. Out of curiosity, was this tested in/near an airport? I ask only because I've found LTE speeds to be generally improved there.

This was done inside my work building and nowhere near an airport. My S4 only achieved 20-25mb/sec in the same area, so this came as a very nice surprise.

On the Note 3 there there was an option to get into the phones ServiceMode Menu through dial codes from within the phone dialer. I haven't had any luck finding anything on the S5 yet. I'm not sure Verizon has turned on the Band 4 LTE modem on the Galaxy S5, I know that on the Note 3, Band 4 LTE was turned OFF by default, if you had root, you could go in ServiceMode settings and turn it ON.
Hope this helps.
Samsung ServiceMode Dial Codes: (at least on the S4 and Note 3)
*#0011# General Debug screen
*#2263# Allows you to force any frequency on your phone
*#27663368378# Main screen

Question on how to see which band I'm on.

Coming from the Note 4 I could type #*0011* and see the various LTE/other network stats. Can somebody tell me how to do this in the tmo V20?
Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk
Try *#546368#*918# and go into field test and modem settings
Thank you. It didn't quite display what I was looking for but looking in LTE bands I saw band 30 and 40 but not 66. Maybe it isn't enabled out of the box... Dunno
