Linky no worky for me.
Nvm, got it.
Is the software upgrade only supporting the 4g connectivity? I was under the impression it was a general upgrade and would include support for things like SD cards.
Also, while I am not on the Verizon plan, I still want hw/sw upgrade so my device is current. This statement from that forum mod seems to indicate that if you aren't paying Verizon, Motorola isn't going to upgrade you:
All Motorola XOOM tablets on the Verizon Wireless network are eligible to receive an upgrade to support 4G LTE.

I have from a very good source, anyone who purchased a 3G "Verizon" Xoom is eligible for the 4G upgrade since they technically paid for it with the price of the device. Rooted or not you will get the upgrade, and data plan or not you will get the upgrade.
You don't have to have a Verizon plan.

From what I have read online its more than just a sim card instal which is the reason for the mail in
Im not too sure about this stupid 4g upgrade. I mean, we have to send it in. And then who knows how 'careful' they're actually going to handle my fully screen-protected device? Ill probably never even activate the radio. How often is there an emergency for "on-the-go" data, really? But since I did pay for the upgrade I guess ill have to send it in. Ahh! They just better send it back to same exact condition it was in. Im very anal about my electronics and if I see one little nick, or mess up my screen protector, they're gonna here it from me. Lol!

I would take pictures before you send it in. so when you get it back and if its damaged you can prove it. Take the pictures of right before you tape the box to send it in. So that they cant say the picture is from 2 weeks before you sent it in or something. Doubt they will damage it but if you want to be really cautious.

Ok so we have had many threads about our fears form verizon and what they will do to this beautiful machine. So i decided to start a thread and hopefully collect all of our questions to the dare devils who pre ordered , so when they get the phone they can perhaps better answer our questions. SO thank you in advance to any one who can contribute, whether it be more questions , or answers when the time comes !
1-Does it have the nagging wifi and gps icons ?
2-can we still have the ability to disable ANY app we want , as in other versions of note 3 , innately and not using any root method ?
3-can we surf and talk on 3g ?
4-can we simultaneously use bluetooth and aux ? phone calls routed to bluetooth when a call comes while auxiliary is plugged in ?
5- feature of moving app to sd still there , or disabled ?
6-anyway to disable 4g without root ?
7-Will Verizon cover the wireless charging ports like they did on the note 2?
the point of all these questions is whether we can deal with the phone stock, if god forbid , root is never realized , then we gotta love it the way its made.
Sometimes its hard to test all these functions in store, so the help is much obliged
any one else want another question answered , pm me, and i will edit the post and try to add the answers if new owners are kind enough to tell us !

The question really is why wouldn't they. It said in another thread they'll have the wireless back plate s view cover. I just went into a Verizon store and the rep said they would have both variants, the regular s view and wireless backplate

I think you're confused... What they're trying to say by stating that the contacts were covered up on the note 2 is that they were inaccessible without modifying the phone physically.
they are not covered up, Verizon computer system has a skew for wireless charging plate and wireless s view cover. The dang wirless s view cover is almost $100!!! wtf
$100? Someone @ Verizon has been sniffing glue again.
Any would you want to disable 4g?

1- to save battery in low 4 g signal areas
2- to ensure data limit is not reached in 1 day
3-to have consistency of signal while traveling across 3g and 4g spots , since we dont know how this phone will handle 3g to 4g and vice versa
Good to know, since I'm still using a dinosaur.

Verizon may have screwed me. I worked out details about getting N3 this weekend, a few months ahead of upgrade date, but barely within REAL 20 month window... as of Saturday was supposed to have been pending shipment. Called today to get tracking info and rep said order was never placed. I'm *IRATE*. Have been a VZW customer since 1996, willing to shell out $300 for a phone & renew for another 2 years,
The chances of me getting the N3 on launch day are now between slim and zero. Any VZW employees on here wanna be a hero and take up my cause? It would seem I was straight-up lied to.

I realize it's in the other thread but buried in the latter pages. To bring this up to the top, I have the Rogers variant and ordered the pin-compatible Qi back. Was pretty elated when it arrived since the back finish color matched exactly (came from a D855). Snapped it on and -- nothing. Was sure all my Qi chargers work since other devices charge fine. Do a recent search and an obscure Facebook post from LG confirms Canadian variants are Powermat only.
Had I known this, I would have not purchased this phone. It's a huge deal breaker since I have Qi deployed literally everywhere...
Unfortunately pre-release or early write-ups like these one were misleading about Qi compatibility:

I ordered the exact same coloured case back as the Canadian G3 except it has Qi -- it's not the Slim Guard. The pinouts are for the non-Korean model (gap in middle between contacts).

Oh, so you ordered the standard battery cover, but with Qi-North American pins? I've been looking for the Slim Guard here in Canada, I know the Slim Guard also has Qi charging, and even though I know it wouldn't work with Qi chargers… I'm set on that case. It's a nice looking, slim battery cover replacement.
And yes, to go back into the topic; I don't know why LG would think PMA is the route to go… AFAIK, LG has to pay royalties to PMA, as where Qi is free (I THINK). I have never seen PMA chargers in Futureshop/Bestbuy. I've seen Qi compatible chargers in various places though! That's some really bad move on LG's behalf.

For cases I've ordered a few off eBay including a nice Nillkin which hasn't arrived. I'm ok with the over sharpened screen but PMA... my God. I have the LG G2 and was super stoked for the G3 since all I wanted left was Qi wireless charging. I even laughed when ATT restricted their version to PMA but Canada... what are you doing?
I'm contemplating dumping this and getting a D855 as I value Qi more than full speed LTE. Unless I'm mistaken, there are no non-Canadian versions that can take full LTE here.
Watching the other XDA thread closely entitled:

Are you with Robbers? I believe some Canadians have been saying that D855 (T-Mo's) will work just fine with Canadian network. It's too much work for me to even consider, importing 855, etc; and researching the LTE bands available.
If you live in Toronto, Pacific Mall might have some shops that sell T-Mo's D855.

Just posting some more research. I'm in TO on robbers indeed... I've considered PMall before, perhaps I'll give it another shot. At least it will save me from unlocking.
Some feedback for others thinking about getting the D855 for Rogers. I finally got the D855 in and tested it. Out of the box, it does not connect to LTE. The only available options were GSM and WCDMA, set on auto or manual. Connections would only show 3G or H (HSPA).
After some research, and testing, I finally managed to connect to Rogers' LTE MAX network (2600Mhz).
Steps taken:
1) Loaded HKG firmware using TOT/DLL method. You can find the firmware and instructions here here: [ALL Variants] Update / Restore to Stock you… | LG G3 | XDA Forum - I used the 32GB version.
2) Once loaded, you will see the option to set it to GSM / WCDMA / LTE Auto. Before it was just GSM / WCDMA Auto.
3) Unfortunately, this still didn't work and I was still showing 3G and H. Speed tests would also show that it was on HSPA.
4) I then typed 3845#*855# on the keypad to access the secret menu. There I manually switched it to LTE Band 7, which represents the LTE Max 2600Mhz network.
5) I also had to add a new APN (ltemobile.apn). It came with the normal one (rogers-core-app1.apn).
6) After all that, I changed the network mode back to GSM / WCDMA / LTE Auto. Almost immediately, it would now show 4G, instead of H.
7) Ran a speed test just in case, and it is indeed LTE speeds
And yes it has wireless charging built-in (four pins in the back of the phone, and case).

Thanks for that info! So according to my quote above from another XDA thread, I should be able to take the D855, flash a different rom and get LTE on Rogers. If the "one particular store" is selling the 32GB for $680 then it's not a shabby deal given Expansys wants $700+. Do you happen to know which store it was or at least which aisle perhaps?

It`s close to the entrance where there`s an escalator... So that after you enter from there the side of the mall with windows should be on your left. The cell phone store on your right (the last aisle), and the first or second cell phone store there is the one lol. Hope it doesn`t sound too confusing.
P.S.: It`s a pretty small store and they don`t have the G3 on display. You just have to ask though.

You should check if the back buttons are okay. My friend also has a G2 and he's not that careful when pressing the back buttons (he somehow dislikes KnockOn). Check if the camera flash is working, check for dead pixels (easy way to do so is launch the camera app then cover the lens to have a black image.) And, if possible, check if the IR Blaster is working.
Thanks for the info, my main concern is a hacked hotspot working on tmobile
Pdanet app might work in conjunction with foxfi. At the very least it should work via blue tooth. Pdanet has 3 was to connect: hotspot, bluetooth and usb to pc.
Hope this helps.
Ok cool, it is helpful thank you. Just curious if it would deduct data from my network plan rather than hotspot plan
This phone scratches and nicks up pretty easily. Make sure the one you buy is in mint condition and was not dropped or exposed to moisture.
Run quadrant/antutu on it before you buy. If it has high scores and doesn't overheat after you test the phone, its a keeper.
If the battery drains like crazy and the phone overheats, do not buy that one. Hold out until you find one that won't drain the battery and overheat.
Trust me....your experience with it will be MUCH better
Thanks everyone, this can actually get deleted, the dude flaked out on me. His "gf's phone broke"
Currently working at a Verizon retail store.
Received the Verizon version of LG G4 demo unit
and it is 3rd day using it on my personal line.
Any questions that I might be able to answer?
1. I tried the Lollipop rooting method for G3 and it didnt work.
(althought the software status says modified.)
2. Foxfi works fine with unl. data in Verizon.

Ok so.. I preordered mine (full retail to keep unlimited data) at Best Buy and they show no leather option. So is verizon not doing leather do you know?
Does it come with that advanced calling - so you can use calls & data - out of the box or is it waiting on an update like they did for some of their recent phones where that comes later (but they never tell you how much later).

How has the battery life been? Are you a heavy or moderate user? Is there alot of bloatware on the Verizon setup as usual?
Is there an unlock switch like the international one?
Is the battery 2900 or 3000?
I see their G4 page says "3000" but ive seen mentions of a 2900 across the web.
Wifi calling?
Does simultaneous data + voice work in 3G? (note, I said 3G, not 4G)
LED notification blink speed?
Is it still useless by being at 10 seconds between each light up?
If I have to wait more than 3 seconds I'm probably just going to double tap the screen to see if I have any notifications. They might as well not have included it on the G3 with such a long delay in-between.

Are you familiar with the app Light Flow? You have way more control over LED than native allows.
The whole debacle with the x not supporting advanced calling despite being promised makes me really gun shy on buying a Verizon phone with future promises.
Shame about root too. Hopefully there will be an option. Xposed would be hard to part with.

Ebay has them also, I've looked. But read this http://www.androidcentral.com/upgrading-leather-taking-your-lg-g4-next-level and it shows and talks about carrier branding even from Asia on the leather covers.
The phone is not even world wide available, once it really hits in june, leather covers will be easily had and much cheaper. They are way too pricey now from Asia.
ps - Amazon does not show a single leather back cover that I see. You might have searched, but did you actually look?

I think "yoonee" trolled us.
Sorry for the late reply... I was out of town during the weekend.
1. Leather option, I do not know for now,
as there is NO information at all for this device yet.
Even for the retail stores...
2. Advanced Calling works just fine out of the box.
(I had advanced calling as Verizon feature with GS6.)
3. Battery is 3000mAh on my device. I've had great battery life.
I would consider my self as a moderate user. Got 4-6 hours of screen on time.
4. Unlock switch... I don't know what that means. Can you explain little more?
(Although I believe most 4G phones coming out on Verizon are UNLOCKED for international use.)
5. No wifi calling.
6. LED notification stays on until I actually check the notification.
How's the display in direct sunlight? Can you read texts or emails easily in direct sunlight?
I was just trying to answer whatever I could.
I'm not trolling lol

Screen seems darker than GS6.
But it is still bright enough to see it under direct sunlight.

Bah. Verizon tagging
Was hoping they would finally drop branding on flagship phones.
And in dev options do you have the bootloader unlock toggle?
Like I've said before, having the toggle doesn't mean you can unlock your bootloader, we can't until an exploit is found or LG change there mind.
Just did my pre order today, can't wait!!
Does it have any Verizon branding on the front? Please say no
