JWR rom with CM features? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there...
I have been using CM since my old HTC Desire. I really like that rom.
Now I am using 10.2 nightlies with the N4. But I am really tired of the deadlocks.
Today I tried installing Purity based on JWR, no dead locks. But there are things that keeps me using CM, for example:
Advanced brightness control (CM has it own app to control brightness, AUTO levels and all that stuff).
Quick settings in the notification area
Fully translated into Spanish (I know English, but I like my rom running in Spanish)
Theme chooser
cClock
I haven't been able of finding a JWR rom with all that options. In conclusion I would be happy with a JWR CM .
I appreciate your recommendations!
Things I don't use: PIE and extended desktop, I don't care about that.

I checked some of the features and you seem to be right. The only problem I see is the lastest version doesn't work with Franco kernel which I use!! I will have to try..
Any other suggestion ?

Slimbeam is really good. The only I see is that the translations are not ready yet.but everything else seems good.
I hope cm team fixes the deadlocks and Franco makes his kernel slimbeam compatible...

Recommendation for rom?

I've been looking through some threads but I figure I ask the experienced. I'm looking for good battery life, little bugs, and for some reason nav bar customization like nav bar color etc. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Also is it just me or you cant add a fourth nav button yet as a customization to the nexus 4?
Well Use PA rom in original Dev section with matrix Kernel....also use No frills apps to control cpu...but when the Mods see this thread they might close it lol...but hopefully I could help before they get here ...
CM10.1 + Franco
or Xylon + Franco
AOKP for insane level of customisation
Personally waiting for AOKP milestone.

Currently using Xylons rom with Faux's kernel with his paid app and everything is working fine with great battery life.
CM10.1 + Faux's kernel (beta 4) + Faux Control app has been great for me.
Im also using CM10.1 + Faux Kernel
Im using the unofficial aokp Dec. 5th build and wow pretty bad baterry life. I'm down to 60% and only been about 3 hours moderate to light usage. I want to try 10.1 but would miss my 4th nav button and color customization but heck if I can get better battery life. I'm going to try the 10.1. Or does xylon give you better battery life? Its a toss up between those 2.
Aokp and Franco kernel, see my signature for links

Stay at what you are now or try cm 10

cm10 is said to be better? smoother? faster?
Well, it's a bit different stock rom is really smooth. I think cm10 stable is as smooth as well providing you use cm default kernel. Just try it yourself, it's nice.
However, if you're into looking for new things you may as well try cm10.1 nightlies. I'm amazed by how well it runs. Super fast and looking nice. Just disable lockscreen widgets(if you dont like them like me) and you're good to go

I'm using Helly Bean 4.2.1 right now and i'm not noticing any bug yet. The kernel that comes with it even performs good enough so you don't need to flash a custom kernel.
If you want your phone as bug-free as possible, i suggest flashing MDO 11.10 for now, then flash a CM 10.1 based rom when Cyanogenmod team already released a stable version.
Flash cm 10 stable version!! HUUUGGEE battery life, and perfect as daily driver!

Using CM10.1 nightly as daily driver, and I haven't experienced any bugs, other that the tilt sometimes stop working (reboot gets it to work again)
You can read more about it here (and se what issues other people have experienced) - Remember CM10.1 is only nightly's so far, so always look on the last page of the thread.

CM10.1 is a lot smooter than cm10,
For some reason, i keep going back to CM every time I try something else. There are always something that is buggin me with the other roms.
I have used CM9, CM10 and CM10.1 (nightlies) on my i9023 - CM9 was last one stable for me - worked like a charm. Both CM10 and CM10.1 crashes few time a day (all at default setting) - would not recommend for someone, who need to make sure phone is working - oftentimes can't answer calls, when some other application is running.
Using cm10.1 had some reboots only when tried to overclock. Otherwise it just works without any crashes. You should try to install after full wipe.

brought new nexus 4 and have issue

yesterday i brought new nexus 4 after trading my galaxy s3
i rooted my nexus installed recovery
flashed franko kernel
and installed paranoid rom
now the phone heats up too much even on normal whatsapp chatting
i tried to underclock it from setcpu but still heating is there
later i thought may b my phone doesnt handle paranoid or franco kernal
then i flashed modaco rom
but unfortunately swipe to wake doesnt work
i have still not tested the heating problem
can anyone guide me on setcpu setting or which rom / kernal to try
i am more interested in swipe to wake function
I have similar issues with a lot of Franco releases, some apps like fun run make the phone super hot. I use Motleys kernel, overall way snappier, and battery life is just as good. It's in android original development. As far as rom I use cm10 kang one by trailblazers that's built from linaro tool chain with bionic commits, it is faster than stock cm10 for sure. Try it, both kernel and ROM are built on linaro, good combo.

What is the difference between Paranoid Android, Cyanogenmod and Aosp?

Hey guys, I am currently running PA but find things aren't as smooth as I would like. What is the difference between these three roms?
What are your personal preferences for each?
Oh, as well I am running the stock PA kernel for the display calibration. Does Franco kernel offer a similar calibration? I am afraid I will lose the calibration if I switch.
Thanks a ton guys!

I'll provide an answer for the Franco kernel question -> Yes and Gamma correction as well via the franco.Kernel updater application from the Play store. Also allows you to save the display color profiles as well which is always convenient.
I know you didn't say anything about this but have you taken a look at JellyBam ROM? It nicely incorporates all three ROMs into one (and among other things).

Paranoidandroid allows you to perform lots of customizations to your device like the hybrid mode it porvides in it's setting. The tablet or phablet mode. It was the pioneer that started the PIE interface. So simply said, it's made for customizations loaded with useful settings and tweaks. CM is based off stock rom.
SITE To Paranoid-Android
http://paranoid-rom.com/
CM is based on AOSP or Android Open Source Project. It's purely based on stock rom and that is the Team total focus point.
SITE TO CM
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/
INFO:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CyanogenMod
AOSP is the source that makes up Android OS. The OS you see on your Nexus device is AOSP. Pure android without Touchwiz, Sense and etc. It's basically Android without it's "clothes".
INFO ON AOSP

That's all I know. Lol. Perhaps someone else chime in more about it.
These answers are great guys thank you. I have to inquire further about the gamma correction though. If I'm clear, to get the awesome display settings that are baked into the PA kernel I will need to buy the application and fool with settings in it?
Or do the display settings come as a pre made option in the theme?

I assume you're talking about the franco.kernel updater app. Yes you can fool around with it. There are preloaded color profiles in the app that you can choose from. You can find out of that in "color control" from the app.

your kernel has a huge influence on how smooth a rom will run. if you like PA, try flashing a different kernel or a different version of the one you are using

I've tried CM, AOSPA, PAC and finally SlimBean and combined with TabletUI, Xposed framework and Holo launcher the latter one is what I like most!
Eeehhhh. I use PAC-Man. It's not the most stable thing in the world, with it's occasional fast rebooting. But, I have never seen a ROM with as many customization options as this. Throw your favorite CM theme, and your favorite icon pack for Apex or Nova launcher, maybe play around with the transparency levels and colors on your Navbar and status bar, and then... Then you have a thing of beauty right there. I like it, even though it has it's quirks.
