I went to settings > display and i see something called daydream, and its turned on. when i click on it, the clock is checked and the settings for that are digital and night mode selected. But when i plug the phone in to charge, the clock is not displayed. Any ideas?
U have to let it timeout, ahter u walk away, and let it sit, it'll come on. Also make sure its set to run when charging ...

Confirmed this to be working . Let the phone power itself off, don't push power button to put it to sleep.

Anybody know how to turn that thing off? I've got the phone set to leave the screen on when plugged in. If I plug the phone in and walk away, the notification turns the screen on and then it stays on until I get back to it. Its already happened more than once and ended up being on all night.
I'd prefer a built in setting but I guess a market software solution would work if need be.
Thanks for any solution.

I 2nd this, that battery notification is just annoying.
Is there anyway for the screen to auto turn off even while charging? I noticed when not charging the screen auto turns off, but while charging if you dont manually lock the screen, itll be on and wont turn off.

Much thanks !
My S3 has started a strange charging problem and I hope someone here can help. My S3 has been charging fine and showing the LED, but since I plugged the phone into my laptop USB, now the phone stops charging if the screen is on. It doesn't matter if it is connected to a wall outlet or USB.....turn on the screen and the LED goes out and the unit stops charging. Under "Battery" options in settings it shows as connected and charging, but it isn't actually charging any. Use the power button to turn off the screen and the LED lights back up and the unit starts charging for real. I've turned off the LED(unchecked it) then turned it back on....no difference. Rebooted etc.....nada.
Phone is bone stock AT&T and I'm new to Android. Hoping it is a simple setting that somehow got changed.
Led is supposed to turn off when charging and screen is on.

You misunderstood part of the post. Not only does the LED turn off, it stops charging with the screen on. Under Battery options it "says" the battery IS charging, but it really isn't. Battery level continues to drop. Turn off the screen and it starts actually charging again.
Well it may be because you are using more power than its putting into the phone. Or it may just be defective. Have you tried another Rom yet?

Are you using the USB cable that came with your S3? Is your laptop plugged in our running on battery when this happens? I also believe that you might be using more amps to run the screen and Wi-Fi and whatever else is running on the phone than the USB can output. What generation USB port is in your laptop?

If there is a thunderbolt on the battery icon, then that means it's charging. When you turn on the LED option when charging, it only turns red when the screen is off, and turns green when it's full.

Your laptop doesn't put out enough juice

I currently have a stock standard SGS3, when i put the phone on charge, and leave it the green led eventually shows, i then press the power button to wake the phone and i see a green battery. At this point i cant do anything swiping doesnt do anything and the phone then shows a black screen. I then need to restart the phone. Has anyone else experiencing this issue?

It sounds like your charging the phone while it's switched off. Just put it on the charger without turning it off.

when the "green battery" shows, reclick (hold) the power button again, it should boot.
When the phone is off and you charge it , it shows that animation.

Thanks I have no problem booting the phone from the green battery icon. My problem is that i charge the phone while it is on and for some strange reason it switches off when it is fully charged, surely this is not normal.
I normally leave my phone charging overnight and when i wake it the morning i have to reboot from the green battery screen
This does not happen all the time, and i'm using the standard samsung charger
Your phone may have a problem due to excess charging where something freeze it down after the normal three hour charge .
See what happens on a normal charge .
Otherwise return under warranty .

My brother opened his N4 today and after setting up his account and WiFi noticed he couldn't open any apps. Some apps would just show the "X has stopped working" message, including the Settings app, and others would just display a blank screen (white).
After turning off the phone, it doesn't turn on anymore. It doesn't vibrate nor does it seem to boot-loop. When you plug the AC charger, there is no charging indicator or battery icon, nothing. But if you press the power button, the LED starts flashing RED after 5-10 seconds while you hold it down. It's the same situation if it is plugged via USB to a computer. Can't get into the boot loader since it just doesn't turn on.
Is there something else I could try? I looked through the forum and read a few posts with similar issues, but they all seemed to have occurred after the user flashed a custom recovery, kernel or ran some benchmark.
I would call and get a replacement.

Basically my phone was completely fine when I left it, then when I came back an hour or so later it wouldn't turn on. So I put it on charge, which I thought to be odd as it had nearly full battery when I left it, then I still couldn't turn it on. I tried to reset with the power and volume down key but it didn't work it just gave me a red flashing light in the notification light. Has anyone else had this issue, if so is there any way to resolve it or am I better off contacting google about the issue?

Leave it with another charger connected for a while
