]My wife's s4 stopped charging in the wall and would only charge on the PC. I figured out it has a bad USB port. Tried cables chargers etc... I went to unroot her phone and realized that when connected to the PC it only has charging capabilities. I can't connect to it via Odin, Kies or even see the sdcard. So I thought maybe I can do it with mobile Odin or Supersu. This is when I realized her root is not working. Not sure how long this has been because I only rooted it so I could hack her candy crush game. Lol. Now I have a phone that shows up custom when turned on so I can't take it to AT&T and no cable connection to get rid of the root. Any suggestions? I also tried downloading Supersu instead of Super User and it wanted to update the binary but failed. I never flashed a Rom on it, just rooted.
No USB
Broken Root
Can't get replaced due to phone showing custom on boot

Forgot to mention I can access the sdcard from PC wireless through WIFI File Transfer app.

Well you can't use odin. You can try to unroot thru super su. There is an un- root option there.

Assuming you meant 2.5.5.
I used it on my stock EC05 and it worked fine. If it won't connect, I'd try reinstalling the drivers for the phone or try another USB cable or port. Did you remember to turn on USB Debugging? (Menu>Settings>Applications> Development)
Is there a way to get the settings in the service menu all back to factory after messing with a few and wanting to change it all back to stock?
No. What firmware are you on?
Edit what do you want to return to stock?

I get stock firmware from sammobile.com. You'll have to register but it's free.
http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyS4/SGH-I337/I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_ATT.zip
scroll to the bottom and enter the requested code to initiate the download.
When returning to stock. I used your all in one to root, do I need to unlock the bootloader or anything.
more info*
I have tmobiles 8.5 gb data plan. yesterday I downladed a large file. This morning my data connection was really slow. So trying to work around their throttling, I went into the service menu and changed he network control>band preferences to CDMA/LTE only. Worked for a while and then things returned to normal. (Slow crappy service.) So i went a little deeper changed something else in cdma selection ended up without any service at all. Then after a lenghty talk with att and tmobile I decided to do the process to turn on aws again. After doing that the service returned, but the data is still the way it was.
I actually had it where it was saying it wasnt activated asking me activate my phone.......yeah stupid I know I shouldnt mess with things especially when I have no clue what they are. Lesson learned just trying to fix my mess
PS I am not over my data limits

When you return to stock, you're staying all over again. You'll have to reroot, etc. Be sure to be wary of your device trying to grab the MF3 update. Maybe take your sim out and leave wifi off while you root, backup and flash to your desired rom

Don't worry about the boot loader. It's locked and you can't unlock it. After returning to stock with odin re-root it using motochopper. Do ask that with the sim out and WiFi off so you don't get the mf3 update.
See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42320391
Man I am starting to get frustrated,,,,,,,,,.,,.,.,,.,.,.,.,.,,..,,,.I know how to root. Motochopper is what I used to begin with to install twrp and root. My phone is not coming up in odin I have all the current drivers any other things I need for the s4. I have been modding since the s2. But I am very new to the s4. Why doesnt it show up in odin?

Delete the Samsung and kies drivers.
Run ccleaner
Install the Samsung drivers
Then run Odin
finaly got odin to work flashed and rebooted. i thought flashing a rom would delete a lot of my stuff? It is all still there and now my computer doesnt connect to my phone it charges it but doesnt say it is connected.
I have tried different cables and different ports with no luck.

Odin won't touch your internal or external sd cards, the areas you store pics, music, etc. So what your seeing is normal.
So what about my other problem now? My computer not connecting to it.

One at a time, you've rebooted and have your phone working? In development options do you have usb debugging checked?
yes. Kies, Odin, Windows, nothing recognizes it in download mode or recovery even

Alright, so...I flashed PSX 8.5 on my Nexus 4 and the radio doesn't work. Baseband version says unknown. Should be easy to fix, right?
Nope. My USB doesn't work for data. I've plugged in my phone to many computers, and they all say Port Reset Failed. Now I'm stuck with no signal (so I can't use WiFi to put stuff on the phone) and no USB connectivity. Basically, I think I'm S.O.L.
Any ideas?

What was the ROM and radio prior to you flashed the PSX 8.5? Can you connect to the Internet through your data plan? If yes, then download a flashable zip file for the radio 0.84 and then flash it in recovery. For a flashable zip radio, search for it.

Previous ROM was Cataclysm 4.4. I cannot connect to anything, except for I'm now seeing that Bluetooth may work. If it does, I can just transfer the old ROM back to the phone and flash that way. Hoping this works.
Bluetooth will pair with another phone and Windows 8, but not connect.

I thought ADB doesn't work if the device is not recognized by the computer. Am I wrong?
Anyone else have an idea?
It might be related to SELinux. This most likely won't work, but assuming you have root and terminal, you could try switching selinux to permissive (# /system/bin/setenforce 0). Or if somehow you have selinux in settings-about phone (CM...), tap that a few times to switch the mode. Most likely won't work though.
Other than that, take the phone apart and fix your usb port, or exercise your warranty (since we're dealing with a usb issue..).
This is why you make backups or otherwise have an emergency plan. Especially so since you don't have a functional usb port.
Reboot into recovery and use adb to push the radio or a complete ROM to your phone.
Hi Folks,
my situation is the following, I'm stuck on Android 4.4 CUCC. My cellphone wont get recognized by the PC, I think it is something related to the SIM Card reader according to a post in another website.
So, i would like to downgrade to Android 4.3 but I cant get root access and I cant change recovery or whatsoever.
I was thinking, maybe, from recovery install directly the old firmware but with the current recovery.
I dont want to brick the cellphone or something.
What do you think? Would that work? Any other suggestion?
Or a way to get root access or install at least the play store?
Thank you in advance
Why you can't change recovery?

There's no flashable zip for 4.3, so, the only thing you can do is flash custom-stock based Lollipop ROMs, or another custom ROM.
Don't ask me how, I installed wrong Rom on my edge 7, as result, no USB connection.
So can't use Oddin to replace ROM and of course can't root.
Also, all rooting app fails, I guess because they recognize it as a different device.
A part of that the device works great, but I can't do any updates and I have a challenge...
Any ideas?

Download a suitable ROM onto the phone internal memory or onto SD card. Flash the ROM via twrp. Giving details of your phone helps too if you want tailored advice.

Phone is edge 7.

Hi,
Phone is Galaxy S7 Edge SM-G935F
Have no Idea what was installed...
I believe it was kernel - I attached a picture of the SFTWR details
Don't know if it was ODIN or ZIP
I can put phone in Download mode, but it is not detected - well if it was, then I could have reflash it with ODIN
And yes, USB debugging is ON
try kingroot to get root easily, then use a
twrp app to flash recovery and finally go to rwcovery, wipe everything, flash proper rom
every rom thread has an i fo about models how did you manage to flash the wrong one? if you too lazy to read you need a lot of money to repair damages ^_^
