I recently upgraded from a S2 to a S4, Ive flashed ClockworkMod v6.0.3.6 and 10.2 nightly
Ive found if i shut down the phone and try to start it up - itl hang on the Samsung screen - i have to put it in to recovery and use the reboot system function from there to boot the phone? Same thing if i remove the battery
Has anyone seen this before and knows how to fix it?

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone's knows of a fix for, or even the cause of issues with the SGS4 and Android 4.3 roms.
I have tried 6 different ROMS over the last 3 days and with all of them I get the same result. The ROM flashes fine, the phone reboots in to the ROM and I can set everything up. The ROM will work perfectly for as long as I leave the phone on. For every ROM, as soon as I restart the phone for the first time, it hangs at the SGS4 logo, before the cyanogen spinning circle or the google circles, and does not proceed.
The only way I have found to get it working after it is in this state is to clear the cache, dalvik AND data.
Most of my attempts have been with the CM 10.2 ROM, 10.1 works perfectly but 10.2 has the same issue.
I have tried it with just the ROM, with the ROM and Gapps, with the ROM, Gapps and SuperUser and nothing seems to work.
Just FYI I am using the internation gt-i9505 roms with TWRP (latest version).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My apologies if this is a common issue. I have searched but the only old thread about it is the following:

and no real answer was suggested there, which is why I am asking it again.
So the issue is the same as in that previous thread: quite often, when I longpress the power button, the menu (to shut down, put it on vibrate mode, ...) does not pop up. The only way to get it back is to hold the power button until the phone shuts down, and then reboot the phone, after which it works again (for god knows how long).
I was rooted (with stock rom) before 4.3, but lost my root when updating to 4.3, so I was on stock ROM without root when the problem first appeared. Now yesterday I rooted again and flashed paranoid android ROM (first factory reset, clearing cache and dalvik cache), but the problem remains.
In that old thread one member solved the problem by flashing the stock kernel, however I have never flashed another kernel so I doubt the kernel is the problem?
If anybody knows the issue and a way to solve it, please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

No, as in the first post, I have never flashed another kernel on the nexus. Neither did I flash a new radio.
I had not flashed anything yet when the problem started, I only unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone when I first got it (but it worked a long time without any problems)

anyone having same problem as me?
i have a new galaxy s4 comes with 4.3 android.
i have rooted and running philz cwm.
i have tried flashed nishlight and arrow rom.
but same problem persist.
the problem is when it is boot up.
all running fine but after the screen time out or i tried to lock the screen.
i cant wake it up.
when i press the power button the screen wont turn up and left only the menu and back light turn up, the screen goes blank.
actually i have 1 galaxy s4 also but the other one is comes with 4.2.2 android only.
and i have it running arrow rom or nishlight rom with no trouble at all.
any suggestion how to overcome it?

even when it is still at the front of choosing language and accessibility start up menu.
it giving such a problem.
i wondering if it is locked bootloader or what it is?
anything goes with efs folder may be?
but when i revert back to original mj5 firmware it running smoothly, i rooted it and still goes with philz touch cwm.
i wondering y my another galaxy s4 dint have such a problem, i have run Legend, cobra, arrow, and nishlight rom on it without problem at all.

use CWM 6.0.4.4 onwards.

Started with me trying to install lineage ROM on my s4 when things started to grease up.
Ok the problem is the phone would not boot to the main OS but when it did I flashed the recovery(twrp)with odin which seemed to work for about a minute or two before powering off. Also I couldn't get to the recovery(twrp) even when pressing the correct combos I just flashed it again and again until it worked but wouldn't work sometimes. I went back to the stock ROM which didn't work either.
I know I am missing out on a few details but if any of you guys can help me that would be great.

try this, have problem like that, but i cant use any os greather than kitkat
but make sure you DUMP your partition that mentioned ! to PC
