Flew Southwest yesterday. They were offering free TV if you connected to their wifi. My 10 connected to wifi no problem, had no issues loading the rest of the page, but would not load the embedded video player on the Southwest page. I tried using Dolphin, Chrome and Chrome Beta browsers with no luck. Dolphin just sat and tried to load, while Chrome would appear to load until you full screened it and then the "Cannot play video" pop up would appear.
Wife saw me raging and pulled out her iPad mini. Connected to it no problem, TV started right up, and she gleefully rubbed it in my face...Pisses me off cause I do my damndest to defend Android products, but these little things happen and I'm left shaking my head.
So could anyone with a greater knowledge than mine clue me in on what the issue was? Was the issue on Southwest's end? Or am I using gimped browsers?
Thanks.
I get that alot with embedded players on both them browsers... I tried several others but I keep going back to Maxthon HD for embedded video. Now all you need to do is book another Southwest flight and let us know.

Has anyone else tried this? I've tried it but I've noticed that it only shows ever 20 seconds or so then sits there until the next 20 seconds. Essentially, I'll start streaming live and the first few seconds of the video will show then it freezes. Once the timer on the camera reaches around 20-22 seconds, the live feed video will kinda fast-forward/skip to the 20-22 second mark and freeze again until around the 40-42 second mark. Anyone else experiencing this?
The regular recording videos and sharing them is fine but the live feed just flat doesn't work.
I'm also having trouble getting live streaming to work. I thought it was a network speed problem but it even does it over wifi.

I tried 3G, 4G, and wifi all with the same results.
bump; anyone find a fix or better app for this?
I have not tried it yet, but you could try Ustream (http://www.ustream.tv/). It has an app for streaming via your phone in Android Market.

It wasn't happenin for me...
I have been on the fence for this ever since it has been out. I have been to bestbuy and verizon to test out the demo units multiple times and both units seem to have the same issue.
When I open some apps, say dolphin hd for example, I can see screen artifacts for a second. Like colored dashes of varying lengths, and this seems to happen often.
Second, when I am trying to pinch and zoom or scroll in Dolphin, it jerky and spastic, there was one other app that did this as well but I can remember which one. The scrolling on the stock browser seems ok but not the best.
Anyway, do any of you see this? More than likely a software fix, but hey, you never know.
And a rant, who on earth thought of that flimsy power adapter, good grief, they were both broken and the two stores when I first went to look but have since been replaced. And the power button? I have to turn it over to find it.....
Rant off and hoping to fall of the fence.....
Matt
The power button is actually placed well I think. It's not in the way and not hard to get to. I rarely have my device on a table cause of the viewing so it's not a hassle. Also I have not experienced that with dolphin HD on my device.
It's a Dolphin HD problem.
The stock browser rocks.
I haven't noticed any screen artifacts on my display whatsoever. For the most part I disregard demo displays in any store, as you have thousands of people with their hands all over it and the mentality of "Its not mine, what do I care?". God only knows what was done to the demo units.
I have not used Dolphin HD browser at all, so I can't comment on that, i'll try and download it today and give you another reply. The android browser pinch to zoom works damn near flawlessly for me.
As for the power cable, yes I was a little weary of it and the size. But since the battery lasts for quite awhile on this thing, I just plug it in on my nightstand and it lasts me through the day.
My typical uses through the day are music, browsing the internet on breaks, work e-mail, picture management, and work e-mail (exchange push). I start work at about 8 o cloak and am usually done around 6. During this time theres constant use of e-mail and music, and when the day is finished I am around 35%-50% on battery depending on how the day has gone. When I am home, its light browsing and maybe a game for awhile.
The power adapter could become an issue if you plan on having it travel with you constantly, but in a fixed location for charging and nothing disturbing it, its not so much of an issue.
Are you seeing the artifacts? It is like a blip and then the app starts.
I know what you're talking about... but it only occurs for me with Dolphin. I used to use that as my main browser and pinch/zoom when it would try to reload the text/images it would be very jittery.
Again though it's the apps issue not the tablet or honeycomb.
I just had to change the default browser to load as a desktop and not as a mobile device.
i know this probably a common excuse, but HD Dolphin isnt made for honeycomb. Dolphin is making a tablet specific browser and hopefully it'll be release soon. i have both installed just to keep my browser option open.
as for the power button, i think it's the best place. what you dont release from the demo unit is that when actually have in your hands, it's completely different. if the power button was along the side anywhere, it could be easily hit. especially laying down it on it side or even having it in a tablet stand. i even have some issues with the volume button when i place it in my tablet stand.
besides all that, i contact Quickoffice and asked about whether they're developing a Honeycomb specific Quickoffice with editing and making new documents. they said yes
I use the stock browser with no problems.I don't see why they had Dolphin browser on the Xoom anyway because its not designed for honeycomb & furthermore those demo units are no way to judge the Xoom anyway.People push everything in sight on them & mess them up anyway.
I'm surprised they don't perform a reset every once in a while to clear up the device of any hangups.
Though I guess it makes for a pretty good stress test to see if it can handle anything that is thrown at it.

Launcherpro
dolphin
spareparts
asee ( app i use for my home dvr)
The verizon store also had an ipad right next to it, and I do have an ipad now, but love my Droidx.
the other thing I seem to notice is that the colors are a little washed out on the xoom compared to the ipad and the ipad is much brighter, but that always is best especially late at night in the bed. The ipad is to brit on tne dimmest setting.
Man i just cant decide to drop the dough....
[Q] docking station interferes with flash playback in Opera
I noticed recently that from time to time opera has a little wobble and wont play flash content.
But I finally narrowed it down by accident just now.
I was watching something on the BBC Iplayer and went to put the tablet down so I docked it.
Opera seemed to restart and the the same page was displayed as before but this time it said sorry no go you need flash, so I undocked and and the browser restarted again but this time the programme appears. This is repeatable.
Now I am on a VERY steep Learning curve with this tablet and Android in general but I have beeen trying to learn as much as possible about the tab.
Has anyone any ideas what could be causing this?
My wifes boss asked her to ask me why Pandora stops playing when he opens an ebook and if there is any way to keep the music playing.
I don't have a Kindle, so I don't know much about them. Is this normal on the Fire? Is it also normal to listen to music and read at the same time? lolz
Okay, so I was curious...
I installed Pandora, got it running listening to some music and then I hit the home button...still playing. Flipped through till I got to a book a got from the library (kindle edition) and opened it. It is now playing music and I have the book up.
My KF is stock...
OK, so it is possible to do both on the KF. Hmmm....
Is there any chance that he might be on a pre 6.2.1 version and that could cause the problem?
I might just have to make a visit to their office and see what's up with it.
Thank you very much for the reply.
I doubt it, unless he's not connecting to the internet - i'm not sure how he would be blocking the update if he's stock.
Do you guys get video stuttering on Netflix? It's pretty bad on my tab 4 8.0 to the point of getting a headache. I've tried 2.4 & 5ghz but no change. Battery saver is off. This doesn't happen on any other android devices I own. Even my old tab 2 runs Netflix smoother. Any tips or is this how it is on all tab 4s?
Could someone try Netflix and let me know how it is on your tablet please.
Tested Netflix on my Tab4 8", no problems at all.
Do you experience this stuttering on any other video app?

Tab 7 here. I get a bit of stuttering but rebooted and plays smooth again.
Sent from my SM-T230NU using XDA Free mobile app
I've tried out some other players like mxplayer and also stuff like YouTube and video playback is smooth. It seems to be just Netflix that is having this issue for me. I've restarted and all that but no luck. Netflix is the only one getting this stuttering every few seconds. Real annoying. Not sure why. I've never seen Netflix act like this on any of my devices and other tablets that I currently own.
Try clearing the cache, try reinstalling?
i have the same problem
what i have tried so far:
1. re install firmware using Kies.
2. format cache, factory reset from recovery
3. clear cache, restart app
4. disabled screen mirror, smart stay, palm motion , switched to nova launcher...
5. limit background process, check do not keep activities.
6. disabled power saving.
7. disabled multiwindow.
edit: also tried
8. clear all other apps cache.
9. Turned off all the bloatware.
10. installed task killers, show no process running since they are Turned off.
11 disabled rotation
12. enabled airplane mode
I also noticed movies in SD does not shutter. only the ones in super HD.
don't know what else to try, and i don't want to root and lose warranty.
playing 1080p 60Hz videos shutter a little bit, I'm starting to think that is just that the CPU cant cope with doing many things at the same time like using wireless an decoding video. since day 1, i noticed that while the updates were downloading and installing it became very laggy over all, and I was like, what are 4 cores there for then? its just that its a crappy tablet and that's all.
I've tried a lot of the things above to and Netflix is still having this micro stuttering. I noticed that if I lower the Netflix quality in my settings it will still stutter so it has nothing to do with the tablet not being able to handle high quality. It almost seems like there's a bug on the Netflix side with this tablet that is causing this or something. It's kinda sad that my old tab 2 7.0 Netflix stream is better than this new tab 4. I also have a shield tablet that just blows both these away but that's expected. My wife and daughter use this tab 4 and they watch allot of Netflix on it so I would really like to figure this out. Anyone else have any ideas on what to do or know if there's a bug that needs to be ironed out with Netflix and this tablet. Maybe there's a update from Netflix or Samsung to fix this problem in the future...if they know about it.

I have tried all versions from newest to oldest , one by one, the lastest one that works is 1.8.1,
you can find it here if you want:
