So i have upgraded to the new r11 zimage and tried to install the latest modules but only some have copied over as others have copied but at 0k??
there are nine that will not copy over
Any ideas?
Enough free space?
Did you copy it using Android's USB mode? That tends to corrupt files, for installing modules I use Android Commander.
Yea plenty of free space others have copied fine. It's copying the file over but its empty 0k I'm using a root explorer to copy over as there are a few files to copy with this update

I shall take a look at that

nope
still no joy, the only thing i can think of is the android file system has become corrupt?
android is working still so ill just wait for a build with the latest kernal
your trying to copy the files without root privileges.
in the term the first thing you need to do is type su
that will change the $ to a #
then copy the files.
cp /sdcard/*.ko /system/lib/modules
I shall try that but I wonder why some went over then but others did not
Thank you

I don't know what's going on, and I've been searching for an answer to this for the past 2 hours. I have the latest SDK installed. I'm running the cm7 alpha build, latest one. ADB seems to work just fine. I just typed
adb reboot bootloader
bam, my mt4g is in fastboot mode.
I then typed
fastboot flash splash1 splash.img
and fastboot is not a recognized internal or external command, operable or batch file.
Seriously getting frustrated. I'm gonna smoke a bowl and come back a little more calm. lol
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11228290/fastboot
Put that in c:\windows\system32
then try your command again.
And then ship the bowl this way.
I'm about to try this. If it works I'm gonna kiss you. Its been hell and a half trying to find this answer. lol

oh. My bad, thats the linux version. You need the windows version. I have a .bat for that.
Just run the file called adbonly.bat
and feel free to look through the file if you get scared that it asks for admin rights. Just needs to be elevated to write to system32. Then you can run your command from anywhere.
I actually made this as part of a seperate project, but it comes in handy if you need adb and fastboot quick and convenient like.
I finally figured this out. When the sdk updated (changing ADBs location from \sdk\tools\ to \sdk\platform-tools\ it didn't move fastboot.exe or any other files. All I had to do was cut all the files from \tools\ and paste to \platform-tools\
Hopefully this wont cause more problems down the line, which it ALWAYS does with winblows. Lol.

Yeah that happens. But I swear my .bat would have worked too. lol.
I'm sure it would have. After running your cm7 rom I have total faith. I just didn't want to edit too many system folders on this craptop. Its my 4 year old sisters. Lol.

Thank you so much. I spent an hour last night trying to get clockwork on my friends MT4G and had the same problem.
Looked at my comp when I read this post this morning and that was it, fastboot was still in the old tools folder.
Don't you love how "correcting" our state of mind can change how we see things.
Thanks again.

Yeah, lol. I knew it would be something stupid like that. I'm not sure if my environmental variable was set up wrong or what. I have it set to C:\AndroidzSDK\
Should I set it to C:\AndroidSDK\tools\
Or maybe
C:\AndroidSDK\platform-tools\
?

Please post questions in Q&A section.
So I'm just now installing the SDK on my gf's computer and it puts ADB in /tools and Fastboot in /platform-tools. Fastboot refuses to run.
Code:
This application has failed to start because AdbWinApi.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
What's this about?? I downloaded the sdk.zip (the installer exe wanted me to install the java jdk, which I definitely don't need) and extracted it to C:\android-sdk-windows. Then I ran the SDK manager and installed the platform tools. Should I copy the platform-tools contents into tools or the other way around?
And why would they give me an SDK with a non-working fastboot? Kinda pissed right now...
EDIT - Copied contents of \platform-tools into \tools (DID NOT REPLACE ANY FILES!) and now everything works.
I would still like to know what was going on with this, and is there any advantage to adding the environment variable? I'd like to be able to run commands from any directory if possible, instead of having to cd all over the place.
I am having a problem with rooting my n7 recently I decided that I would flash back to stock clean wipe sd card and reroot, well it didnt work out that way, flashed back to stock without a problem, then rerooted ok, but then was prompted to install 4.2.1 from google, well I did and here I am cant get rerooted after installing update. I use wugs tool kit and has always worked on my GNex and until now my N7, any ideas anyone?
It seems to see ADB, but no Fastboot? very strange, could I need a fastboot file or something?
Yup, better not to use a toolkit.
Need adb.exe and fastboot.exe in the platform-tools folder of the android sdk and the proper drivers.
It is nice (but not neccesary) to add a path in enviromental variables so you don't have to have files in the same directory always.

Nice to see you around.
I cannot forget the tremendous help you and Frankdrey gave me to discover, learn, and use an Android system on my G1.
Without both guidance I would, maybe, use now a toolkit and learn nothing.
@gunner - anytime, I love to help, now you can help others as well! Nice to see ya in the n7 forum too!
@flb
Google search android sdk, download appropriate package for your pc.
Open sdk and download all the tools in it.
To add a path I need to know what platform you are in... actually let me know when the above is finished and what platform your pc is and ill give you the rest of the steps

First of all thank you for the help, I'm currently running win7 64 bit. Ill check this post tomorrow and give it a try.
Sure thing, simms22 posted a nice link to just get the adb.exe and fastboot.exe, feel free to download those instead of the sdk as that is larger and you may or may not ever use a lot of the other stuff.

Thank you guys for you efforts, Ill try it today.
You can just copy and paste the fastboot and adb .exe and .dll into c:\Windows instead of adding a variable.
Fast and easy lol just like I like 'em
Success! Thanks guys. I think Ill stay rooted and skip unroot rerooting.
Hi
I was changing Roms and like a fool wiped everything, all data etc so now I have no OS.
I can get into recovery just fine and have used the Nexus tool kit to push the PA rom and Omni Rom so that using TWRP file explorer can see them however it just keeps failing when I try to install.
after it skips the md5 it says
warning no file_contexts
then
error executing updater binary in zip and more texts which i can copy if important.
What can i do to get my phone backup and running please.
DESPERATE!

In TWRP go to Advanced and then click ADB sideload and swipe when it tells you to. Go to the folder on your computer your ROM is in and open a command prompt/ terminal. Lastly type adb sideload "filenamehere.zip" After you type this wait and you will see Success. There you go buddy.

Hello mate,
thanks for your quick response although im not 100% sure i get it.
What will this acheive? Getting the rom.zip on my phone? if so I have done with using the tookit and it is when i go to install the rom i get all the errors.
If that is not what we are doing then ok... but im still lost.if i open ADB sideload and swipe the phone just sits saying 'starting adb sideload' What do i do next?
Connect phone to your PC. Then start sideload. After you swipe and it says Starting ADB Sideload open a command prompt in the folder your ROM is in and type adb sideload filename.zip. Put the file name of the Zip where I have filename.zip. This will sideload the ROM. Which means it will flash the ROM. After you do this reboot your phone and all will be good.
All sideloading does is flash a ROM that is on your PC instead of phone. It does the same as flashing one, only this way it doesn't have to be in your storage.

Ok that makes more sense and i get it, although im not sure how to open a command promt in the folder where i have the rom saved. I know if i type cmd in run that opens command but thats just in the local folder, what command prompt do you mean. Sorry mate i know some stuff just cant get my head around this!
Command prompt is cmd. To open a folder in command prompt you type cd path/to/directory. The easiest way to find what directory is right click on the file and click on properties, from there copy where it says location (may say something else but its where it is located.) It will be like path/to/directory. Separated by /. Copy that and then in the cmd type cd and then paste what you copied. Then you will be in that location and will be able to do the adb sideload

I thought you had adb already installed. Once you do this I recommend you to learn how to use adb and fastboot, not toolkits. Toolkits get people in trouble like this right here and because you don't know how the toolkit does what it does or how to do it yourself you're stuck. Everyone needs to know those two thingd if they're doing anything to an Android phone so they can fix it if something happens. It's easy to learn and takes less than an hour to understand.

nomatter what I do all I get is no such file or directory. this has been going on since yesterday morning. can someone do a video of unlocking the bootloader so myself and others can see if its an error on our part or if its our cp. I'm running windows 10 that's the problem.
Shot in the dark.... make sure the unlock file is in the same folder as abd or open folder the unlock is in and "open command window here"
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Yeah I've done that. I deleted all the stuff from my comp and now doing a disk clean and defrag. Then I'll reinstall and try again
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA-Developers mobile app
Did you extract the unlock file? The file you downloaded should have a .tar.gz extension. Make sure you've fully extracted the file, it should have no extension.
I just looked at the zip and extracted files none of them are .tar.gz extentions. I downloaded them from the main posy for unlocking the bootloader. I'm not 100% sure if I figured out my issue. But when I reinstalled adb fastboot I made sure to extract the zip file to program files (x86) [dont recall if i did that last time]. then installed it to program files (x86) is this correct? And to be sure the unlock file goes in the adb folder that has MAF32?
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA-Developers mobile app
You need the file extracted and it is not a tar. It is easier when in same folder as adb. Also it would be nice to know what step or command you are on as multiple ones will give that answer, a screenshot would be nice. You didn't provide enough info to go on.
That's what I thought. After hooking up to the computer I open adb. Then make sure my device is found then enter adb push and the command line and that's when I get no such file. I'm hoping when I did the reinstall on everything again I got it haven't tried yet I've been out and about all day.

Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA-Developers mobile app
It usually makes it the easiest go install Android SDK tools. Place the unlock file in the platform tools folder. Then hold shift and right click & select open command prompt here. Them copy/paste the command there. Will always work

I think the issue was something running in the background on my computer preventing me from doing it. After I did a disk Defrag and so on it went smooth and fast just like my phone is now. I haven't loaded any roms yet. But I would like to try cm 13 after work.
