[Q] Slow Motion video - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, the new iPhone 5s can record (or rather edit to) slow motion video. The Moto X can straight record slow motion video.
The LG G2 can record at 60fps, which can be converted to slow motion video, but not anywhere on the phone itself (that I can find). I have been researching and can't seem to find a free program that can convert the video for me, either on my device or my computer.
I don't really want to buy expensive video editing software just to make a few slow motion videos. Is there some way that I'm not aware of?

Hello!
I would like to have the this in my LG G2 aswell...
If anyone could get this, it will be amazing...
I don't really like iPhones, but in this case I have to admit, this feature is great.

The stock video player has a play speed option. It'll let you go down to half speed, but I think that's as slow as it goes.

either convert it on the phone using androvid, or use some video editing apps on pc which can slow down the video and then save it

There's a modded apk available, download here:

The quality really depends on the video your viewing, in the general though quality isnt amazing. 2.1 should bring with it a better youtube app.
start the video go still then press menu click on more you will get the option watch in hi quality.....i dont make sense the way they made it but hell you will have to do that on each video lol

It's like that when you are on 3G because not everyone got a fast 3G connection. When you are on WIFI it will switch to HQ by default.

Choppy video playback

Does anyone get choppy video playback on some videos? I have noticed it when streaming some videos from youtube and other websites.

What rom are you using? I had this problem but its because the rom set the read ahead speed too large. Use sd booster from market if you're rooted and check what read speed is. It should be 128kb.

I'm using Villain rom 2.1 but I have noticed the problem standard firmware to. It does it on stock browser and tried a few other browsers to.
Read speed is 128kb.
Any particular videos?

wfi, 3g or both? does it get better if you reduce the size to 360p or are you view through the youtube app, if so try viewing though the desktop version to see if there is any difference, like other say it could be your ROM so search on the ROM thread for known issues.
I've seen it happen too on some flash video's site. I think it's all about the same site here . Nasty
videos up til 720p work fine, 1080p doesn't work at all for me

I noticed it on this video:

Watch with the youtube app on HIGH QUALITY its a bit choppy like its struggling to buffer. You notice it more when you skip through a few mins.

Yes! Its got slow motion video :)

Just incase anyone was wondering it has a great slow motion video feature allowing you to film in 1/2 1/4 or 1/8 speed (I believe its actually recording in high speed and playing back in slow speed) but its smooth and decent quality and great fun to play with. It also has a fast motion setting.
Im sure you probably knew already but I just found the settings and was chuffed and thought id share it with ya.

The resolution for Slo-Mo and Fast mode is limited only to 720x480 resolution!

I can only imagine how that will look in slow motion, it already looks crazy on video. What equipment are you going to use? Maybe some 15" zv3 sundowns?

I guess it's understandable that the Slo-Mo is at a lower resolution (gotta sample more per second) but I don't understand the fast-mo being lower resolution... just take 1080p 30fps and then play it back at 30 fps while dropping every other frame...
I'll post mine when I'm allowed (after 5 more posts, I think)
Stay tuned.

I'm confused What has slow mo?

[CAMERA] Slow Motion [Q]

I managed to get some hands experience on the note 3 at work the other day but I forgot to check if slow motion play back was available. Has anyone heard of this is a feature? Or will an app or rom have to enable it?
Ps. The 2k stream via HDMI was really smooth as crystal.

This also interests me. Having 120 fps at 720p means good opportunity for slow motion videos - like on the iPhone 5s.
Is there a good video editor app in Play store that can make multi parts slow motions?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
If it does, I hope it's got a better resolution than what my Note 2 has for slow mo, great featur but, looks crap on the big screen IMO.

Yeah. It's 720p at 120 fps.
I with the Note 3 could do 250 FPS at 720p. Since the Note 2 does 250fps at some low res. I guess we'll need more hp.
Thanks for the input, I'm just confused to why this wasn't mentioned or any camera features from the outset tbh. I guess the pessimist in me reckons there won't be any slow motion by default.
I would love to be proved wrong however.

The same problem
Heres a question.
Can you toggle 720 video in 120fps to be on all the time by default?
Heres my reasoning for this.
Something is going on, its ALWAYS good to be able to go back later on and play it back in slow-motion.
an accident about to happen, someone about to step on a Bananna peel, etc..
if you need to access the video camera very quickly, it would stink to have to navigate to turn on 120fps
and miss that important shot.
How do you enable the 120 fps feature?

- Load up the camera
- Cog icon top left will expand the list of options
- Icon of a videocamera (3rd from right)
- Slow motion
- Another videocamera icon appears with something like 1/4, 1/8 in the corner
- Tap and choose what you want, i prefer 1/4 as it records at 120fps and plays back at 30. The 1/8 still records at 120 but plays back at 15 i think
Thanks

Does the video you tried to watch support 1440p? Search for "2k demo video" or something and see if 1440p is available when you watch one of those.
I did not do anything special it just played search 4k video test you will find a couple great test videos.

There's a certain process to follow. Look for it in apps and themes. It's posted there.

I got it fixed. All i did was install the app and clear the data and it started working. Nothing extra. Nice jump in quality since i was only able to see videos in 720p before.

Should be by now. It wasn't when the OP was made. I hade it before apk mirror too.
However the OP was to inform people they did not need to do the build prop edit anymore to get the 2k viewing.

New app updated from Google Play worked for me. But it wont work right off the bat. You have to force close app, go to the app settings and clear cache and data. Restarted YouTube and voila! Haven't had 1440p enabled in quite a bit
Anyone Know how to keep video quality at the highest? seems to change between videos. Nothing is settings.
Depends on the resolution the video was uploaded with. Some videos are low resolution, some are high. So you have to check each one. YouTube also streams in a lower resolution to get the video to the viewer quicker. Not everyone has fast enough Internet to stream 4k videos without buffering issues.
