I am from Ireland. When I got my S3 it was being used on 3 network. I downloaded GalaxSimUnlock which was successful and I have since been using the phone on the Vodafone network. However, I have recently tried an o2 and a meteor sim card in the phone which results in it not registering on the network although I am told it is unlocked. There is reception on the phone but calls etc cannot be made. I am wondering has the phone been blacklisted and is this why some of these sims are not being accepted?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry to be posting as soon as I registered, but I'm in a hurry to get this done with or else I might get into a fight with the guy who sold me the Nexus One (he claimed its unlocked)...
Anyway I bought the phone, put in my sim-card, tried installing my contacts from the SIM and it Locks.
I use any other SIM card and it works, mine doesn't...However I unlock the phone using the steps provided in the forum...Now I can install any SIM on it without any issues EXCEPT for MY sim-card which had already been locked...
I tried getting a new SIM from my provider with the same phone number but i get the same result - locked...
What do you guys suggest I do?
I would really appreciate any help guys...
Thanks a lot in advance
I thought the Nexus One is sold unlocked. You are using a GSM sim, right?
Yeah - But i guess the guy who sold it to the store had already bought it with a contract from T-Mobile ...
Yeah im using GSM sim...
He could have bought it with a contract from (insert chosen deity here) and it wouldn't make a difference. The Nexus One is SIM free no matter where you get it.
Are the SIM you've tried that work on a different network to you? Perhaps your network has blocked it's IMEI after being lost/stolen/part of an insurance claim.

I tried other sims from the same network as mine and they all work except for mine! very weird...ughhh
Old crap sim probably, not all sim cards are made alike, even though they look like it. Ask your provider for a new sim.
Hopefully this thread may help a lot of others out there and save all some time. Here in Japan the carrier staff are notoriously useless when it comes to technical help. Even the technical staff.
So bought a new unlocked Nexus 5 from EMobile Japan with a 4G-S sim piggy-backing the Softbank network. Staff stated the sim should work in any unlocked phone (now stating he said it would not lock, but says it is not IMEI specific). Anyway here's the deal when using the sim in a Docomo unlocked Samsung Note 3
* Voice calls okay
* DATA does not work.
* Have tried many different APNS including those below, but no joy.
* The Nexus 5 itself can use any sim.
Can anyone shed any light on the above? Have tried to speak to EMobile technical support but they were no help. Here are some links in Japanese on the subject.

Also seen some talk about "The USIM-specific ID/pass". Does anyone know of this?

any updates on this??
I have some questions:
- Is the Docomo Phone unlocked?
- Did you try the Emobile Sim on another International LTE phone (other than iPhone)?
Hi fake guy. No positive updates. Just some clarification. EMobile Japan uses a type of device filtering (like IMEI filtering) that allows their SIM only to work in devices with certain spec. I.e. Nexus 5 and their Arrows phone. This means you CANNOT get data services in an UNLOCKED phone like my unlocked Docomo Note 3 or my international HTC SV LTE.
I was told that Emobile tech have an engineering code that can remove this, but of course this would never be publicised.
Why they choose to do this when their target users are business people, early adopters and foreigners who want flexibility, and the fact they are losing the tiny market share they.

Emobile 4G-S locked
same here - no ability to connect to data network using emobile 4G-S sim into simfree Xperia Z2....Anyone has an idea as to what is the filter/lock used by Emobile (phone model type etc...) or found a way around it ?

I don't have a huge amount of experience trying to use eMobile phone SIM cards for data, but I can tell you that SIM cards sold for an eMobile feature flip phone work in the Sony Mini Smart Phone that eMobile was selling just fine.
Also, I took a data only SIM for a GL06P and put it in a NEC Aterm router and it works just fine.
In my experience they don'T filter by phone IMEI or anything like that, it's just that they use band 9, which isn't supported by a lot of hardware. For example, I have an unlocked DoCoMo Xperia Z1 and it works with other SIM cards fine, but it doesn't work with eMobile just because of the frequency support.
Thanks Shiruba. That may be another possibility, but I visited my EMobile, sorry Y!Mobile (rolling my eyes ) shop last week, and they said a customer reported success in getting data with the Nexus 5 sim in different handsets. Coincidence as I just had a feeling to check about that time , and sure enough the Japanese blog had updated with this info. They report intermittent success.

@terracielo You want to check again. Seems like the links above have it working on Xperia Z Ultra.

Hi, sold my nexus 5 so my experience stops with above post. When I leave Japan will be happy to return to mobile freedom. None of this nonsense.
long time lurker first time poster....
I have recentlly bought a Samsung galaxy S4 model sgh-I337M off eBay to upgrade from my old beloved S2, It is refurbuished and was supposed to be unlocked.
I have inserted my videotron sim card and I was promted for a code.
I have ask the seller, and he replied that i should be unlocked, but since it is locked I can sent it back and get a refund. This is not the option I want as I got the phone for next to nothing.
Is there a way to know what carrier my phone is locked to? so I can get it unlocked?
I whould also like to had I do not plan on rooting this phone.
p.s Yes I have searched and found nothing.
thanks a bunch.
Sgh-I337M could be rogers

forgot to mention tried Rogers, fido, bell, telus, and videotron sim cards. (what's left koodoo, Virgin mobile, sasktel etc....)
is there a way to know what carier my phone is locked to? without trying every sim card from every compagnie.
ok so now its getting weird, or way more complicated.
found apps that tell me the phone carrier, and lock status
phone info tells me that: mobile operator name: (blank so should be free of a carrier)
Network info II tells me phone status: is sim locked and needs a code
Sim car manager tells me that network type: unknown
network operator name: blank
network operator code: 302610 what the hell is this anyways?
so thats pretty much where i'm at now. any help will be greatly apreciated!
A Google search says that network operator code is for bell canada
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
I will have to retry a bell sim card... ? Can a carrier in this case bell lock enven them selfs out of a phone?
curentlly unlocker republic.com is triyng to get me a unlock code, well see where that goes....
well its a no go withunlockerrepulic.com
anyone else have any clues.
still have yet to try another bell sim card..
Hi guys, thanks for reading the thread. I know I am fresh here but hear me out.
I actually did have an account but for the life of me cant get back into it, its 2 years since i was on here.
Anyway i bought my sammy (Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530M, Android 5.2.0) In Colombia after getting 2 phones stolen off me cos of my Gringo`ness.
I bought it "secound hand" as I couldnt afford anything new. Used it with 2 different cellphone providers Claro and Tigo and it worked fine which is why i figure it is not locked to a certain companies simcard, although later on i did have trouble using it with Tigo but it initially did work.
So I brought the phone home with me to New Zealand and stuck an NZ sim in it and it says no service network unavailable. After taking to the shop of the company who`s sim i tried (2Degrees) they said it needed to be network unlocked. To my understanding that means it needs to be unlocked to use on the New Zealand network which involves registering it on the New Zealand cell network data base. Please bear with me ass I know nothing of what i am talking about.
I was quoted $60 which is too much for me as i am a broke traveler. So I was going to use FastGsm to see if i would work but have decided against it as have some concerns about using thier site.
Please let me known if i am totally misguided or if there is a simple solution to this
Thanks
Anyone?
Good Morning,
I have a Galaxy S10 plus, in UK (dual sim) supposed to be locked to EE?
I am using a 3 network sim in primary slot and it works? No problems whatsoever,
How will I know if its locked?
And if it is, How will I unlock it?
Thank you.

Clearly you may not have received that phone directly from EE but a third party reseller (Mobiles.co.uk) as all EE handset are normally locked. If its lock you would not be able to use another sim from another network in it..
Thank you for your reply, yes I traded in my xs max for it at CEX (UK)
I got mine from an EE store on upgrade. As long as its the "Hybrid Sim" version, then its unlocked.

Yeh, is that really a thing with Samsung phones? If its dual sim=automatically unlocked? I'm using a dual sim, is there an app I can use to check rather than having to take my existing sim cards out? Not being lazy, it's just usually if I put another carriers sim in then it changes my data /WiFi calling settings.

I've just inserted another sim (EE) and both are working. sim manager shows both sims are 2g/3g/4g. Also tried a plusnet payg sim and that works too. So no....i'm not "just chatting".
Clearly, he DID get it from EE.

Hi just to confirm, you've got a phone directly from EE and you've tried EE and plus net (who run off the EE network) sim cards. Unless you've tried another network besides EE, then how can you be sure its unlocked? Mines directly from Vodafone, I doubt mines unlocked unfortunately.
Who clearly got it from EE? They said they purchased from CEX, im confused [emoji848]

Yes I traded in my xs max, (256 GB) and got the S10 + (512 GB) I did indeed get it from CEX.
it said it was on EE network? Cheaper and I hoped to get it unlocked.
Tried my (own just out of curiosity) 3 network sim in the primary slot and it works!!? Tried a Tesco sim, (02) it works??!
Got in touch with "mobile unlocked" and told them I wanted to unlock it, and they confirmed it must be unlocked.
Happy Days!!!

All exynos models are dual sim, there are no more DS models, so for that the S10 doesn't come unlocked from samsung. It still is up to the carriers.
Now, carriers that used to provide locked phones may now be providing unlocked phones, but thats on them.
(There is a SD model but thats just the chinese snapdragon model)
I think only 3uk and maybe O2 (not sure on O2) Supply unlocked phones if you get it directly from them. If you buy from for instance carphonewarehouse or mobiles.co.uk the phone will be unlocked regardless of what network you got it on.
