I have a nook simple touch with 1.1 firmware version(not rooted). I just want to enable multitouch support so that I can read pdfs easily. There seems to be too many thread which is confusing me.
Can anybody tell me the steps to enable multitouch on my NST so that I can read pdfs easily.

Hi. I'd like to start with saying that this may have been answered already, but it is possible I haven't hound it yet. I read these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480271
and still haven't found an answer to my question (maybe I didn't pay enough attention? If so, sorry, and point me straight to the ansers, please )
1) Anyway, I'd like to know what is exactly the purpose of flashing my phone with a new unofficial rom. I assume that because it is unofficial, it lets me run some homebrew software from here, right? (I haven't really read much about this, but I see there are nice tweaking tools, and I like the new touch keyboard as well)
2)
* And what if the benefit of a new rom, in general? Stability fixes? usability additions? What is this rom? Is this like a new touch flo 3d version, or is it independent from UI interface, and it's like updating BIOS in a PC?
Is a new unofficial rom something like this:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=533
+ ability to run homebrew?
* I remember seeing some screenshots from the touch2, and there were some nice features, like a search bar embedded in the Internet tab and a new Calendar tab I don't have. Will these be available after a rom upgrade?
3)I read about the ability to change phone's settings and language by editing Registry. Is it only available with unofficial rom?
4)How can see the status of my langauge's translation for Touch Flo? Where can I contribute? (Polish language)
5)I reckon using/flashing at least some of the software available here voids my warranty. What does, and what does not?
6)Does flashing with new rom erase my contacts/etc.?
7) Is flashing dangerous? Is there any possiblity of bricking the phone and not getting it back to work?
PS.:
I have Touch HD,
Rom version: 1.14.405.3 (22273) WWE
Touch Flo 3D version: 1.3.35350.1_1630.38
SPL-1.14.0000

Hello!
I saw this topic, interesting - might change and apply this method to Tabunay 3.0.1 ?
Use this method without changing anything - brick resulted in a Acer A500.
p.s. i apologize for my English )
Test Hide for ICS Bar ?? anyone wanna test it on iconia?
I Read in the dev forum somewhere that none of the Honeycomb bar hide methods work with ICS at this time.. I would also think this would be more difficult with the acer ring incorporated in ics. only think i could suggest if you want to try the link you posted is to do a FULL ANAND IN CWM/RA Recovey and give it a try .
If you do let us know the results . Thanks for the link
its not possible

so, if your resulting in a brick (or crash), chances are acer has done some hackery in the frameworks or the settings apk, that in turn is being stripped out when you install this.
basically what this does, is create a setting in your settings app that is referenced in the framework that kills system ui. and restarts it respectively. this would be quite easy to implement (for example) cyanogenmod, or any source built rom for that matter.
it is unlikely this will work in a non source-built/ non-stock android rom, but you could further investigate by using adb logcat and tracing down the root of the crash.

I'm new to this, so I apologize if this has been discussed before.
I am trying to get Hebrew support on my phone. Any existing hebrew and hebrew that I type comes out backwards. I'd like to avoid rooting/modding, or whatever since I'm scared of destroying the phone, unless of course there is no other way to do it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
I have the same RTL problem. I live in Israel and I need Hebrew support. Stock 2.2 versions have Hebrew support so SMS messages are displayed correctly. New 2.3 stock ROMs lack this support. They have the fonts, but Hebrew is displayed left-to-right. Is there any way to add Hebrew support to 2.3 ROM? If not, which custom ROMs have good Hebrew support?
Hi,
I think i have a solution.
Download and explores apk Swiftkey X
Keyboard isn't the problem. The problem is how the text is displayed.
RtL support: FIXED
After scouring the internet with no viable solution, I decided to join the world of rooting and modding/Romming (?). I read as much as I could and was as careful as possible. The solution? I rooted my phone and installed ClockWorkMod and CyanogenMod7. It has Hebrew built in and can switch back and forth easily. Built in keyboard also has the option to change languages by sliding the spacebar. I will post step by step soon. It's been over a week and so far everything is working fine. I would suggest backing up your current ROM (after you install CWM but before CM7) just in case.
Hi,
I have recently ported PostmarketOS with the help of the developers of the os. It is an initial port, so only display, touchscreen and charging work. 3D acceleration seems to be broken for now, same as other things such as wifi and stuff. The only tested UI for now is xfce4, as it can run on the framebuffer. If someone is willing to help with the port, it would be great For now I'll try to make wifi and bluetooth work.
Here is the link to the device page on the pmOS wiki, flashing instructions are also there : https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/HTC_HD2_(htc-leo))
Update : wifi works now too

Hi Dominduchami, thanks for your work.
Here is the link with the bracket on the end

Is there a download link there?
@Robbie P Hi. There isn't really any download link, but in the link to the wiki there's an installation guide. You'll just have to install pmbootstrap and follow the instructions there. If there is a need for it, I can also make an image of the sd card with the rootfs, but I think it wouldn't be really practical, because alpine linux is updated all the time

Hi.
Sorry for the late reply. I'm not really working on it right now and I don't plan on doing anything with it in the near future. If you want to work on it however, I can give you some advice on how to set up the environment and such, if you want. The things that probably can be also made working are audio and bluetooth, graphics acceleration is afaik not possible in pmos with such old kernel.
Can you upload sd card with rootfs images ? please
