[Q] I want to root my LG Optimus L7 - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried a million ways but none were successful. I have an LG Optimus L7 that is super slow and I want to make it faster by rooting it. I am running Android 4.1.2, my Kernel-version is 3.4.0, my Build-number is JZO54K and my Softwareversion is P70020d-EUR-XX.
Thanks in advance.

Try Framaroot app - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
After installing it, just choose Gandalf and it will inform you of the results. I rooted this way my v20c 4.1.2 JB.

Thanks, do you also know how I can overclock my phone so it will run much faster?

if you are on a custom rom, i think it has a OC kernel

Sorry for sounding possibly retarded, but I really have no clue what a custom ROM is and what an OC Kernel is, can you maybe explain me how I install all of this stuff?

i can better give you an example of custom rom, CM - cyanogenmod
you know we don`t have android 4.2.2 or 4.3 but we have roms, made by developers , as CM, which is based on Android version 4.2.2 or 4.3
Is like you are using JB 4.2.2, but a better one, with no useless apps on it
OC - overclock , you know, you have , on l7, a kernel with 1000 MHz, you can overclock it to 1300, if i am not wrong, but, this can in time to make demage to your cpu if you are using it very much

First of all, thanks for the clear explanation. Secondly, if I install a custom ROM, will I still be able to download stuff using the Play Store? Like WhatsApp and Snapchat? And how do I install a custom ROM?

yes, they are called, gapps, you need to flash them too ,after flashed the rom
here is the CM for you, with gapps too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339781
if you want, i made a tutorial how to flash a custom rom on youtube, i can send you, it is called for LG L5, but is the same for all

Thank you so much for answering my questions! And yes, I'd love to see your tutorial. Please send it to me!

i said about CWM
install ROM Manager apk
and from there, install CWM, you can after reboot in CWM too

I think I did something wrong. I installed the ROM Manager and also installed Clockwork Recovery Mod, and when I rebooted my phone into recovery so I could install CM10 using my external SD Card I only got white lines. I removed my battery and restarted my phone and I had to configure every thing again as if it was going through a factory reset.

http://theunlockr.com/2013/06/07/how-to-flash-a-custom-recovery-on-the-lg-optimus-l7/
try this
maybe you need to unlock the bootlaoder too

This time I think it worked but when it went into that mode it said "Secure Boot Error" "Cause Verification Why".
Any idea how to fix this?

yes, look on that i gave to you, you have there how to unlock the bootloader
this is the problem, the bootlaoder needs to unlocked

The link to the CWM package is a 404 page, where can I find a different download link?

you said you installed cwm, just unlock the bootloader now

Right now it's installing the cm10 package with ROM Manager, but what do I have to do with that 'gapps' file? How do I install it and what is it?

[Q] I keep getting a recovery error for my i9505G. Please help

I've been trying many things to no avail. I am able to get recovery on my i9505G (which I have read is built into the CWM version now for the i9505) and it seems to work fine. I have the 01/08 nightly CM11 on the phone, but whenever I reboot and select "recovery" it gives me this error. Sometimes if I hit the restart the device, it will boot into recovery correctly. I've even started fresh by wiping the entire phone and the multiple partitions (from having started on 4.2) and flashed a fresh 4.4.2 stock (rooted) tar through odin. From there I flashed the recovery, installed CM as I always have, but it is still happening.
What am I doing wrong?

That is the weird thing, it does have the custom CWM recovery on it, but this happens when I click to reboot into recovery in CM11. I've tried reinstalling CWM numerous times, but I still get this same situation after the first time.

Well here is what I am trying to do. Root isn't a problem, but getting recovery on it is. I've been using the jltflexx builds of CWM and Cyanogen because I read that it was built into it. They both install with no problem and I can get up and running. The problem I run into is getting back into custom recovery and I get that picture error above when I try. I don't know if the custom recovery is getting overwritten by something or what, but it does get installed otherwise I wouldn't be able to get CM11 on it in the first place.

or, like i did, use Odin to flash CWM (PhilZ) for KK and the SuperSU1.93 zip in Recovery.

You can gain root by following the post above, take note that rooting might trigger your knox counter and void your warranty.
Since you've lost track search and read will be your best option.
So far so good.
Thanks for the Help guys, I managed to do all this and install Philz recovery, but other recoveries wont boot, when i tried to install CM11 through Philz i get Something about an kernel not enforcing, and nothing more but that looping over and over again. Is it even possible to install roms on it?
Any help would be super great

Questions about CyanogenMod

Hey guys, I'm new here.Soon my new Nexus4 will arrive and i have some questions about installing cyanogenmod.
1.Can I install cyanogenmod with the new cm installer on this device??
2.If this is possible and i install cyanogenmod, how do i update the version if a newer one is released ??
3.I red that the cm intaller install a custom recovery too, if i dont like the cyanogen mod can i install other roms or i must do something before ??
4.If i use this cm installer i know that i will lose my warranty, am i right ?? And if yes, is there any posiblity to restore the phone to original state (i mean lock back the bootloader and others) ?
Thanks
On the same page of this forum is a Cyanogenmod Q & A thread, I would start there and READ.

I prefer installing ROMs through a custom recovery because you can unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery without disturbing the phone's existing ROM.

1) Yes
2) In Settings there will be an update option, you can also flash ZIP by downloading them from (http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=mako)
3) Yes, you can install other ROMS and gapps from recovery.
4) Yes, you can use google's stock images to restore your phone to original state.

Not actually, you need to flash it via fastboot after installing device drivers from your computer. Which is a small tool that comes with Android SDK. (You can find it everywhere)
But I am sure there are flashable recovery ZIPs for stock ROMs on this forum.

Here's a link to WUG's toolkit that can help with your Nexus 4: http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
Being that you're a noob (just like me) you may want to try flashing things with the android SDK instead of a toolkit (not saying it's bad, I've actually never used it). I just started messing with my nexus 4 using the SDK and some of the write ups here and found them really helpful and I learned a lot. Then again, if you consider yourself computer illiterate (not saying you are, your choice) you may WANT to use the toolkit. Just my .02.

You can download app as an apk file from their site: http://beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install
It is a Nexus device, so it is hard to brick it.
I have been using custom ROMS from first day I bought the device and I haven't got a problem. As I said you can revert back to stock ROM or just try another ROM.
No one can warrant you that everything will work and there is always a chance of brick, but not too much if you do everything right.
so just update to latest official version of kitkat and then i use that cm installer without anything to do before like root or unlock bootloader ?

[Q] CM11 Problem.. Help Needed

Hi all,
I am interested in the CM11 ROM. Last night I spent 6hrs trying and failed, epically.
Here is what I did already:
1. Downgraded from 4.4.2 back to factory
2. Successfully rooted
3. Installed ROM Manager
4. Successfully downloaded CM11 and latest GApps
Then when I tried to boot into recovery it kept going to a screen with a little android guy lying on his back with a red triangle!!! I tried six times.
I got frustrated and just updated back to 4.4.2 and have been dealing with it. I am still rooted and have been able to remove my bloatware and other things you need root access for.
Any thoughts or help as to how I can install the CM11 rom?? I am happy running NovaLauncher and using DynamicNotifications to approximate it but really want to try out CM11.
Cheers and thanks!
Lucky there is no way to root on 4.4.2 yet or atleast no Recovery's yet it could be worse you're atleast rooted and it didn't brick your phone

Did you actually try flashing a recovery first? Just installing ROM manager won't install the custom recovery needed to flash ROMs. You have to do that step as well.

LG blocked the Loki exploit with 4.4.2 so you can't flash recoveries currently. You'd have to flash back to 4.2.2 to do that. Which if you want custom ROMs now its going to have to be done sooner or later. Which carrier and model number do you have? If you have an international D802 the above post by @zekurosu will work for you, otherwise don't use that one. You're gonna have to find the method for your model number.
My first guess was that you missed the flashing the custom recovery step, which people above me have already helped ya out on. For being new to Android you did fairly well, you just missed that one step.
Good luck!

I have an ATT D800 running 4.4.2. I can't decide whether its worth it to flash back to 4.2.2 to try again. Pretty happy with NovaLauncher + widgetlocke and fairly closely approximates what I am looking for.
For what its worth, I was in 4.2.2 when I tried the first time and failed. I think mackster is right, I didn't flash the custom recovery. I basically flashed back to 4.2.2->rooted->tried to boot into recovery (OVER and OVER) then gave up and upgraded back to 4.4.2.
Thanks for all the help. At least I now have a rooted phone and have been able to do some cool stuff with that. My goal is to get nexus 5 software in an LG G2 body (battery, camera, etc)
@android_nashville There's a way to have the best of both worlds. You can flash back to 4.2.2 (10d preferably) root, flash a custom recovery with Flashify or FreeGee. Both available on the play store. Then actually update to 4.4.2 following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483043. Eventually, if you want to flash custom ROMs you're going to have flash back to 4.2.2 and do this process regardless. The 4.4 aboot image (bootloader) can't be bypassed with Loki. Its been blocked. But some brilliant devs basically found out they can make a hybrid setup, with the 4.2.2 aboot, and everything else 4.4.2. This way you can have the ability to flash custom recovery, kernels and ROMs.

[Q] Problem after flash kernel

twrp. I dont know what you mean by stock rom because this is my first time I did. My device is running 4.4.2. and I chose for kernel 4.4 version of tw.
I think that you have to re-flash a new rom. Then, you have to retry installing root and the kernel.

I agree with msmlz, if you have nandroid restore it or download the firmware in sammobile and reflash it and before flashing the custom kernel again, read the thread, see if someone face bootloop like you. Hope someone with experience on it could help you, I never install custom kernel, just update the last stock kernel on my rooted stock rom.
