How can I play HD videos on my device without lagging??
Sent from my GT-S5360
Use mx player.
Sent from my GT-S6102 using Tapatalk 2
There are two common type of videos
1- avi encoded with xvid
This plays fine on galaxy y with mx player
2- mp4 encoded with x264
This will not play on stock based roms without lag
You can use CM7 roms and then enable hardware acceleration in mx player but due to limited hardware libs for this device it will not work for every video

It doesn't matter what player you use - result will be the same
convert the video to avi encoded with xvid if you need to play on phone but you will need to use a pc to do it - would take days to convert via our phone

Does anyone read my posts
it's impossible to play high definition videos encoded with x264 on galaxy y without lag although some may play a little smoother on cm7 with hardware acceleration turned on in mx player but due to limited hardware libs it doesn't work for all videos
you can try every video player in the world it's not going to make any difference
the only video type galaxy y can play smoothly is avi encoded in xvid & non hd video eg low res mp4 not encoded with x264 3gp mpeg
so convert the video if you want to play on phone or see if there is an avi xvid alternative

Hi,
In my phone i have MX Player, Real Player, Zimly, Mobo Player and Easy Video player. But any one of the above are able to play >wmv video files?
Can some one suggest me a video player that can play .wmv files smoothly.
Thanks in Advance.
our p500 cant play some video files smooth..because we have low h/w acceleration..
Smoothly....idk but I believe mx video player has support and its free on the market....download the video player and the armv6-vfp codecs
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk 2
Yes I can confirm that. I played a 720p wmv file with MX player weeks ago (but of coz it's not smooth on my ICS rom)
I already tried that. MX player plays only audio, it doesn't shows video for .wmv files.

Did you try software decoding(SW) mode?(on the upper right corner while playing).
Otherwise video probably has big resolution and you need to convert it.(480x320)
I tried to play through software decoding but it say "this video can't play using software decoding".
And the video resolution I am trying to play is 640x480. Is this resolution is compatible with our optimus one?

Yep.,640*480 videos are playable on p500.
But if you are on ics rom then it is lagging. Try to play on any GB rom, it's playing smoothly.

The thing is, I think, that our little SGY has problems with HW acceleration. I don't know if this is the drivers fault or not, but now the videos we play goes on CPU purely, so we are dependent on CPU frequency. The GPU inside doesn't do any job to help the CPU to relieve some stress, that is the biggest problem why we can't play 720p or 1080p normally. It needs help of the GPU to help to decode it.

I recommend MX player with ARMv6 VFP codec.. you will find both in play store!!
Dude, practically it is impossible to play any hd video on ics on our device.
So don't confused on video players choice.
The main problem in ROM;not in lg p500.

Agree. Probably not a standard video format. We have powerfull video decoder: "Despite similar claims as far as video encode and decode goes, OMAP makes things a little easier on users. Tegra 2 supports hardware decoding of H.264 video, but only with the right encoding. The commonly used high profile for H.264 will sometimes fail to play on Tegra. TI uses a component called IVA3 which decodes a wider variety of codecs." Source: http://www.extremetech.com/computin...s-ti-omap-4-or-why-the-droid-bionic-uses-omap

Both stock and MX player powered by TI OMAP programmable IVA3 multi format media accelerator (/system/vendor/firmware/ducati-m3.bin is the brain of IVA3). Very satisfied with media capability of Tab 2. SCH-i705 users will have a different story about MX player.

best thing to do? convert the video and audio to SGY and also screen resolution, you can get the most of it by doing that
our devices can play mp4 with max resolution of 640x360 and max framerate of 25. use mx player to play other resolution videos and to reduce the fast or slow audio select sw decoder for audio which comes up on top right corner while playing the video

Sgy plays mp4 only if tge resolution of the 360p or 480p...any higher than that and it wont work
U could try other players from the market to try it out
I recommend
1)Mobo Player with the armv6 codec
2)Mx player with an armv6 codec
If these two cant play the video...u probably have to download the video in a lower resolution
