Wow! So far my first initial impressions with the Streak unlocked is very good! I never played with an Android phone, but this one is blowing me away with what it can do compared to my iPhone 4. I love how much control I get with this device. For the first couple of hours, I was getting error messages when browsing sites about server redirects and also noticed the screen was never auto rotating on 2.2. I found the Dell package update and now I am loving the browser and the rotation works perfectly! So far I downloaded the Dolphin HD and Firefox Browser, but prefer the Dolphin. I also synced my iTunes library and photos using Double Twist. I bought some games - Fruit Ninja, psx4droid and snesnoid. I only tried psx4droid which runs very well. I read a few online comics using flash and played some music listening from it's very loud rear speaker. I really like it. I am still trying to figure out how to add words to Swype, but eventually will figure it out. All I need to do now is find a good podcast player that does the 2x speed like my iPhone and somehow get Netflix playing on it and the phone/tablet will be perfect. I love how portable it is compared to my wife's iPad. I can actually fit it easily in my pocket and use it for real web browsing and book reading on the Kindle app! Does anyone think buying a magazine subscription on Zinio is worth it?
I think this is the post your talking about I pulled my build prop from my phone and it didint have the suggested value thou heres the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11268565&postcount=1201

Glad to hear stories like yours! welcome to android!
You can use playon to stream netflix from your PC, i haven't tried it yet but you can there is a trial period for it.
As for zinio, if your into magazines go for it. There are some magazines you can download for free, try one of those out and if you like it, buy it

Performance Fix. I am running 318 with the performance fix and it works well for me.
Installing any of Steve's ROM's requires that you flash a replacement recovery, see this guide at streakdroid.com.
Guys i've just upgraded to ICS and installed the Chrome browser.. really love it, but tried to go to a site to watch some anime and it says there's no pluggin.. Is there anyway around this??

I preface this with, i dont code flash, BUT how is this web developers issues when adobe is claiming flash is alive and well for desktops? These days companies cant afford to provide 2 completely different web sites for desktop and mobile and on the desktop there are just too many things that can be done with flash that cant be done in html 5 and we wont even talk about the effort to convert even if they wanted too. This is really a web fragmentation issue that needs to be adressed soon.
I'll also add that not being able to set useragent in chrome or even reliably in stock browser is driving me nuts. I hate mobile sites on my tab.

i wish people would actually know what the hell they are talking about before they come out with stuff like ' adobe are crap, flash is crap, yadd yadda yadda'.. if these people had ever built a decent working website they would know that HTML5 is not the answer to everything and it is still very limited when compared to Flash.. thats just how it is, its no one fault.
the question we should be asking is how can dolphin implement flash fine and chrome/google cant/wont/dont?
flash works fine on chrome desktop, i just dont think they have activated yet on chrome beta.

absolute rubbish- Flash works fine on Dolphin and Stock browser on ICS.
adobe still support it, they just wont be updating it for mobile devices, BIG DIFFERENCE.
i just love the way that 1 browser doesnt have flash enabled and everyone goes up in arms that adobe are crap etc... its complete tosh. other browser work fine with flash, use them and stop whingeing.
Strange, I have was checking The Verge with chrome for Android and the embedded YouTube video player works. Also the YouTube website, maybe chrome knows that YouTube is a video format and embeds a special player (HTML5).

Who is up in arms? Flash is old outdated and a resource hog. I'm glad they are making themselves obsolete.. and their software is bloated garbage. And support and update ain't much of a difference. No future browsers will have flash...unless you want to use old software in the coming years...
No where did I whine about it... talk to yourself about whining....

actually dolphin browser is using the same engine as the stock browser - that's why you get flash on dolphin too since you get it on the stock browser. and if i'm not mistaken dolphin browser is an extension of the stock browser, so code wise everything it should be almost the same except the UI and other additional features that makes dolphin unique.
Chrome is a totally diff browser - so flash needs to be supported in it I suppose in order to view flash sites in chrome for android.
thank you everyone for your response.

For me being able to use Flash is the reason I started using Android! I despised the idea of not being able to see exactly what I could from my PC! Now Adobe is getting rid of Flash all together!!! I was about to place my order for the Nexus 7 when I read about this! I don't know what to think, not sure if I still want to order it or not! Is this a deal breaker for anyone else???

You'll still be able to use Flash. Just download it now. They will still provide updates/patches, but they won't allow fresh installs after mid August. So if you have it now, keep it. If not, I'm sure an apk will always be available for you.
Flash works perfectly on Android 4.1 on the Galaxy Nexus.
Though it is being taken down, simply backup the APK and you can install it later. It works with the recently updated firefox.

The concern now is the next version of Android, will 5.0 break flash support?
Flash simply is not needed anymore. Most sites are not using it anymore and those that do wil be dropping it soon now Adobe is not going to support it anymore.

I'm tired of that argument. "Most" sites don't? There are certainly some that do and their migration to HTML5 is not so buttery smooth. Flash is a resource, it completes the experience. It's a valid reason why a lot of people haven't migrated to Windows Phone or ignore the iPhone. The industry, thanks to Apple, is pushing "Apps" when a Flash equipped browser can do what some apps try to do but can't. Honestly, do you see banking sites and web apps being migrated to dumb downed app versions on a PC? No. There might be some productivity software like Mint but overall, the web with flash is very important. Until there no longer exists web based flash content, then we can say there is no need for flash. Until then, it's perfectly reasonable to want flash.

Im not sure about that since only xda seems to be giving me this problem. it's like on back on 28k modem.. actually even worse since the page won't load at all. and Im not posting this on first sight of this issue. i've had this problem ongoing for the whole week. it's just xda for some reason.
thanks for the help tho!
most times i click a link in this forum, be it posts or post or whatever, this is what i get (and yes I got it while typing the above post as wel)

I'm really sorry, I might be being dumb but what is the photo showing? - am I missing an error message? (presume you added the "help me pease" bit)
Have you tried accessing from another device on the same network and on a different network? (Presume you have, based on the other stuff on your desktop I assume u are very tech savvy lol)
I don't know why this would happen unless servers that you use are different from mine - my local network AND broadband are terrible but the site still flies (I access with Tapatalk on an (said quietly) ipad 2). I do occasionally get pages come up that say the are completely empty but a quick refresh and they return - presume that that is because of site updates/refreshes
Someone else may be able to help more, will be interested to hear the solution - good luck
thanks for the reply,
the image above is what i see when i click a link on xda... the pages won't fully load. i know it's justs XDA because non of the other sites show this. sites such as engadget, anandtech, phandroid, google news, etc, they all work fine, this is frustrating because even when I try to reply to someone, it will hang on me.
Yes i faced the same thing today

Thank you, ill try that when I get home tonight. It seems the problem only happens at my home.
After the aggravation of no flash support, multiple screen freezes, and the sometime slow buggy screen response. The screen is great for viewing though! I decided to just send it back. To be completely truthful I would not have bought it, when not supporting flash!! Reminds too much of Apple!! I hate when companies force me into, or in this case out of something I want just because they feel like it!! If they think it's a security risk, make it a user option! When you buy a router, do they force you to use encryption? No!! It's my tablet & I should be able to watch flash videos if I want!!
And before anyone starts saying, you can get around it by using firefox or dolphin browsers, you can't! At least not completely, they are buggy!
Just want to see if any others, traded it in so to speak!!

Same boat as you, i had it for a while then gave it back. I ended up sticking with my infinity.
Mmm... Flash is no longer supported mate all across the tablet/mobile world. Besides if your not willing to side load the flash apk then I suggest you go buy a laptop. Flash is buggy anyways but for me flash is nice on my N10. I Can watch my Hulu through the browser. If you want flash you got to do a little work to get it working. Just like any android tablet nowadays. The issues you stated can you be a bit more specific? I haven't had any problems on performance on this thing. Browsing is very quick. Just opening apps and loading my gmail is very fast compared to the Infinity I had. Even using ttorrent, I can actually download a 3gig HD movie without sacrificing performance. No laggyness at all compared to other previous tablets I've owned.

Flash works fine on the Nexus 10 and it is Adobe who dropped Flash, not so much Google. Adobe said they were dropping all mobile flash support.
Guess I was one of the lucky ones because my Nexus 10 is perfect. Better than the Xoom I had, the Transformer tf101 I bought my wife and the Galaxy Tab 10.1's I got my parents.

I really don't understand how Flash Player is so important enough to justify a device purchase decision, especially since it's becoming obsolete... Might just be my browsing habits, but there are 2 sites total that I use that would be "somewhat" pointless without flash player. Just 2. And those 2 sites I could care less about on a tablet (one of the sites is YouTube; which has a standalone app on Android lol)
So in a few months when either all Android tablets are updated and no longer support flash, or your tablet that does, is completely outdated, you are just going to NOT own a tablet ..
At least that is what I get from your "reasons".
Honestly you don't have to justify returning the tablet, if you can't take change I suggest you move to the north pole or something where pretty much nothing changes.
These posts about "Why I don't like the N10" or "Why I am too lazy to sideload flash" or " X tablet is Better than Y tablet" are REALLY REALLY getting old ..
I am in these forums because I own said device, not because I want to talk about how I returned it, or how much I hate it ..
Should be a rule if you don't own the device and are not a developer, leave said forum.
@OP
It looks as though you don't have any clue what you are talking about. The nexus 10 definitely supports flash. You don't need anything but the flash.apk to use it on any browser. It is the users choice to use it or not. And please do a little research next time before you try and slander or put down a company (Google) for something that they have nothing to do with. It's Adobe that doesn't support flash on the mobile platform. Not Google. All you would've needed to do is take 11 seconds to sideload one app and you have flash. Either way. If you don't have this tablet, what does your opinion of it matter here in the Nexus 10 forums? It doesn't. Move along to the next device, complain about that one, and waste more space in another forum with your opinions.

I'm using Ocean browser and this apk worked fine for me.
Just use puffin browser whenever you need flash. It loads the content on remote servers then sends it back to you. It can even emulate a touch pad or a game controller for flash gaming.
It works on iOS too if you care about that.

I had an Infinity for two months before I got the N10. Each person's experience is different but my Infinity experience was laggy and frustrating. I found myself rebooting frequently trying to make it speedy. I disabled most of the Asus stuff, it just didn't "feel" like a great experience. I will say Asus is on top of updates and the bloatware is minimal by comparison to other non-Nexus tablets, of course.
The N10, for me, is just smooth. Living with the N10 is just better for me.
No one had an answer last time I asked, does anyone know now if there is a fix for flash/browser yet, so when I hit full screen it doesn't crash the browser? I tried all of them, they all do it

Developer huh?? Like I said flash is buggy on the nexus 10! I did side load the apk flash pack & it only works partially!! Go to any site that uses flowplayer to show flash, hit the full screen button & the 10's screen goes black & does a partial lock up!! The only way you can move off that screen now is hit the home button!! And its not the flowplayer program, because it works fine on my PC!! It will do the same thing on your 10 too, most likely!! Take your personal assumption & attack where it belongs, off a cliff!! My point was I don't like Google, Android, Adobe, or developers taking things away just because they feel like it!! Remember the software companies work for the public, not the other way around!!
If I knew flash would not work properly, as i stated before. I would not have bought it to begin with!! I believed the developers that there is a workaround, there's not!! At least not one that works 100%.

Here is a link to get flash working 100% you will need to unlock and root your device if you want it to work 100% Yes I'm sure that site you spend time on should work as well. It worked for me and I was able to watch Hulu. I would test it out for you but I just unrooted to exchange my N10.

I believe I will be charged the 15% restocking fee, credit not issued yet. Apple customer service is way better in that regard. I think in the future, I will wait to see the device in a retail store first, save time & trouble on both ends!

So then... what mobile platform are you going to buy in a year or two? Plus, it's the mobile Flash player that's causing the problems. That's purely Adobe's fault for dropping it.
I can tell that your "multiple screen freezes, and the sometime slow buggy screen response" are from fullscreening Flowplayer and being unable to get out. You make it sound like a generalization throughout the whole device.
Anyway, were you talking about this?

Thanks for the helpful response, unlike some other members that tell me I can't believe my own eyes!! Mine is heading back already but this may help others with the same problem!! Personally, I like flash & wish it would stick around. I take offense when others tell me what I can & can't have, especially when I'm paying them & they're not paying me!!
