Goo manager was giving me an invalid md5 sum. It finally installed okay but when I reboot into recovery I get a failed boot and it goes to Odin mode. How can I fix this? I am rooted and I think I have an updated gs4

I am guessing there is still no hack for MF3? Do you know if you were on MF3? If you were on MF3 then you are putting yourself in disaster. When you go to download mode and cancel it will it reboot into the ROM?

This thread is filled with people with your issues and were able to resolve it by going to Best Buy to get it flashed to stock mf3. Read this thread to get some better idea:

It's not really a disaster. When I try to go to recovery, it puts me in Odin. I turn off the phone and boot to download mode, hit cancel then the phone reboots normally.

Are you on MF3? You need to search for other situations to see if anyone found a flashable recovery. I don't hang around too often and from what I have saw is your recovery remains broken. If you are on AMDL you should be able to flash it back but if not then you are stuck how the phone is ATM unless you can find an Odin flashable recovery for MF3.

Earlier today I was trying to install the 4.3 Slim Bean Build.1. I was coming from the latest 4.2 Slim Bean ROM. So I did the usual process of wiping everything then installing the ROM and then the GApps. When I rebooted the system from recovery, my phone was just stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 loading screen. Now I cannot even boot into recovery, as every time I try to, it will show that the phone is attempting to boot into recovery and then it will just reset. I had TWRP touch recovery installed and everything was working fine until I tried installing this ROM. Are there any suggestions of what I can do/should do? Thanks in advance for any help.
Can you get in download mode(power+vol. Down) if so use odin to flash back to stock.

Yes I can. Is there a guide on how to Odin back to stock? Also, will I lose my root if I do that? Thank you

Download Odin and the latest firmware for your device, extract firmware zip file,it will extract in tar.md5 file.now extract Odin and run the Odin application and connect the device while it is in download mode. click on PDA and load the firmware extracted file. Don't touch anything other than that click on start and leave for some time to complete.
Samsung lies should be installed before the process start.
Download firmware file from sammobile.com.
Your device will be automatically unrooted.

I have run into a similar issue and was able to get into recovery by pulling the battery for about 5 minutes then using the hardware keys to boot into recovery.

Okay, this phone has been running Goldenyeye for a few weeks now. No hiccups at all. I gave it to me girlfriend and she has it for about 2 weeks and now it won't boot and I cannot get into recovery. She says it gave her an error message saying "unfortunately (unknown) .com has stopped working" and the phone shut off.
I can get into download mode but no recovery. I'm not sure what firmware it is on. It was on MDL before I flashed Goldeneye though.
Any push in the right direction will receive thanks.

You're probably still on mdl. Odin the stock firmware
If I am somehow mistaken and it is not on MDL can I make it worse by using the MDL firmware in Odin? Or will I just end up where I am now?

I have CWM. Every time I try to get into recovery it shuts off after reaching the first splash screen.

Then download the stock firmware from sammobile.com. You'll have to register but it's free. You'll download a zip. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file. Also download Odin 1.85. You'll use the .tar.md5 file in Odin, PDA slot.
I have just rooted my GN2, I had a problem while rooting it as it was getting stuck on odin written as stuck? tried other methods also but still the same, somehow i rooted my device.

I didn't understand if you are facing issue with rooting your phone or installing custom recovery? And which android version is installed on your phone and which method did you follow to root your phone?
I was running 4.4, and while doing both root and recovery i was facing issue in odin, it used to get stuck at reset. But now i uncheckd the auto-reboot option and now its working

But i didnt understand 1 thng, that when I unchecked auto-reboot option although it installed the TWRP recovery, but still PASS didnt come there, it was still stuck on reset.. What is the problem here, as i may also face it in future when updating TWRP

If you have sucessfully flash twrp you don't need to use odin again to flash another recovery you can do it by flashing it from the same recovery. You'd only need ODIN when you cant access your recovery and need to enter download mode to flash recovery.I hope you are using img.tar file to flash twrp via odin and not .zip

In odin ... Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
- Click the Start button
- Wait for Android to boot
And which android version u r using?
i think i have a problem in my recovery
android laying down with a red triangle
the suspected cause was a failed update to kit kat.
currently the phone boots and runs fine. i still have access to dl-mode and recovery, however while in recovery i cannot wipe cache, it fails.
i want to re-flash my recovery.
currently i have stock rooted mf9 rom and recovery. i checked rwilco repsository and downloaded the stock nodata rom and the mdb and mdc recoveries. i didnt see a recovery listed as mf9
the mf9 rom seems to be an odin one click. but before i use it i was just trying to get the recovery alone and flash it with heimdall ( using linux mint 13) i have a vista box but it got a virus so no go either.
got windows 8.1 but meh...
I think the stock recovery is supposed to be like that. Im completely stock unrooted on NAE and my recovery does the same thing. Idk about the wiping cache part tho.. lol Also if your rooted why dont you just install philz recovery?

There haven't been yellow triangles since the epic touch. There are warnings on upper left screen on boot but only pop up on when running non-stock kernel.

What firmware / bootloader are you on?. I'm guessing it's not mdb or mdl. Twrp is not going to work on your device. Can you get into download mode? You're most likely going to have to flash the firmware in Odin, but I don't know what version you're currently on.

4.4.4 is the nj4 bootloader. Twrp will not work on your device. The bootloader is locked. Safestrap is the only custom recovery you can use and you can only flash touch wiz based roms. See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56453100
