graphiccard won't work correctly - Windows 8 General

hey guys,
i installed windows 8 pro 64bit a few weeks ago and after that i had problems with my graphic card (amd 7850)
i tried the latest stable and the latest beta driver, but it's the same failure anyway
i can use my computer without problems, video games works too
but if i watch a video on youtube, i got displayerrors and i must restart my computer with the reset key
in normal desktop mode the card works on 300mhz, at the beginning of a youtube video it turns up to 450mhz and works. but if the video is over and the card turns back to 300mhz, it looks like the driver crashes (windows event log error: The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device WpdBusEnumRoot\UMB\2&37c186b&0&STORAGE#VOLUME#_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN_GENERIC-&PROD_MS#MS-PRO&REV_1.00#20060413092100000&3#. )
reinstallation of the driver don't works
anyone an idea?

That seems to be wanting to install something from USB. Are there any further details in event viewer that may shed some light on this?
I'm running a 7790 on 8.1 Preview and haven't had any issues so far.
Also check and see if you have all the .NET framework versions as well as making sure all updates are current.

What do you mean with "That seems to be wanting to install something from USB"? Should i install the driver from a usb stick?
The event viewer shows "Der Dienst "AODDriver4.2.0" wurde aufgrund folgenden Fehlers nicht gestartet:
Die digitale Signatur dieser Datei kann nicht überprüft werden. Möglicherweise wurde durch eine kürzlich durchgeführte Hardware- oder Softwareänderung eine falsch signierte oder beschädigte Datei oder eine Datei, bei der es sich um böswillige Software aus einer unbekannten Quelle handelt, installiert." OK, error seems to be AMD Overdrive.
Please try uninstalling all of it and try the latest stable driver.
If that doesn't work try uninstalling and install the video card driver ONLY:

#2 should do the trick once and for all.

Will help him find the right ones. Just make sure he knows that AMD likes their VISION center and all that with it. In win 8 to get to safe mode ie bios, he might need that too.
I only say this cause I just went through it. Also registry values, if not deleted for card, can cause win8 to error out again. He will need to remove all that crap before reinstalling. AMD should have a guide, I winged it... but I had knowledge of this. I know it shouldn't matter, but win8 treats Metro, and the desktop as two different systems. Microsoft calls desktop Windows 7 mode, and windows 8.... Metro?

I finally received my Asus Transformer including the dock. After a little scare when my touch screen stopped responding, it is now up and running. Updated it to 3.1. I transcoded a 20 min video file using Handbrake and the preset I found here in a different thread. However, that took me almost two hours on my old Dell laptop. Since transcoding the video would take ages, I'd like to just demux audio and video transcode the audio to AAC and then mux them in a MP4 file. I used multiple converters, such as Avidemux, GOTsent, Xvid4PSP 6 and Xenonmkv that were recommended on this and other forums. All give me an output file, but none of them play well. Funny enough, the original MKV does play on the Transformer, just without sound, so I don't think the video is too heavy.
Can anybody post me their method, so I can see what I'm doing wrong?

I have the same issues. The file that is produced by XenonMKV behaves differently depending on what player I use in Windows e.g;
VLC: picture freezes, sound plays well
Quicktime: completely white picture, sound plays well
Win Media Player: Picture framerate is too high (but good quality!) so it looks like its fast-forwarded. the sound meanwhile plays at normal rate.
When the MP4 is copied to the transporter it shows 1 frozen frame, the sound plays as it should.
I tried converting with handbrake, that does the job, takes alot longer though

I've tested playback of 4GB 1080p M2TS file on SGS2

Well, if it looks fluid that means the framerate is high basically per definition. Low framerates look choppy, high rates to not.

sorry to bring up an old thread. I just got the dice player app and plays my mkv and m2ts files great. The only problem is that i can't seek when i play m2ts files. Is there a fix for it? Thanks.

I don't have a video file to test, but MX has always worked flawlessly on my SGS2 with both HW and SW decode (SW decoding looks surprisingly good as well, but the phone gets very hot).

I have 700mb video files that I would like to trim down to 500-625 mb to fit more on my xoom before I go away to school soon. I don't have much knowledge in video converting so thats why I'm posting. I have an idea but I would like input before I leave my PC on all night to be disappointed with the quality.

Use my script, and set video recode to Yes. Video looks fairly compressible at 1550Kbps, as SD res is usually well under 1000, depending on content. If it's a TV episode (ie low-action), probably 700-800.
Assume 900Kbs for video + 130Kbs for audio, (900+130)Kb/s * 3600 sec/hr / 8 bit/Byte / 1024 Kb/Mb = 453 MB for hour-long vid.
You can further reduce size by using 640 res, or quality 22+. Using VerySlow speed would eke out another 10-15% size reduction vs Medium, although for mobiles it's not recommended.

I didn't hear anything about mkvs, but I did hear it can play 1080p and I read it did a solid job of it as well. Seems file size is limited to 2 GB max though.

maybe mx video player can play mkv on KF?

It will play 720p mkv's it gets a little choppy not sure if it is from streaming over wireless causing it or if the hardware is just not up to the task.
I am using Skifta + mx video player.

I used Moboplayer to play 720p mkv and it played like a champ.

Hi, How do you get moboplayer running? KF auto reboots once I tap a video in mobo.

I tried an 720p mkv of "The Art Of Flight" (amazing piece btw). using mx player and mobo. it runs pretty solid but not perfectly fluid. so it seems to vary from movie to movie, but once those apps get updated to be more optimised for the fires cpu/gpu we should be pretty save.

I downloaded 720p anime trailer and sideloaded MX Video Player but it couldn't activate hardware decoding and thus played very choppy. Given the processor is the same as the Archos G9 tablets, they must have messed up on the codecs.

I tried 2 hours long 720p movie 3GB in size and it was playing decently, only in some fast action in was tearing a little bit.
Anyway I don't really see much sense in this as movie like this is taking up most of space available. Normal SD quality stuff is playing fine.

Ok this time I tested this 720p sample clip of the Californication intro (mirror here) and MX Video Player could only do software mode so it was choppy.
Has anyone ever gotten MX Video Player to use hardware mode on this thing?

My MX is saying that it's actually in HW mode in one movie that I tried.

There doesn't seem to be that big difference between these files and yet it's working only on one.
EDIT: It appears that only H.264 mp4 files are HW accelerated.

Perhaps not ideal for everyone, but I keep my movies I'm my computer and use the emit app to stream/convert and download them at will to the kindle, it all works very well

Too bad this tablet does not have HDMI out. With the 1024x600 screen, it can't really play 720p/1080p videos, even if the CPU is up to it. I've heard that the CPU is more suitable to playing those videos than the Tegra2, am I right? because even with BS Player I'm having issues with some frames skipping on MKVs

I'm playing American Psycho at 720p, and its an mp4, works gloriously

But the first video you tried was MKV

mkv is a sort of container. Inside can be different video formats, including subtitles ...
More interesting would be to find out why the second one is not playing in HW, as used codec appears to be pretty much the same.

I am using A700fd, I use MX Player for video playback coz you know Samsung's video player sucks, I tried playing a 1080p video on my phone but the playback is very laggy, stuttering and twitching, in short, it would take 2 hours to play a 1-hour video .
If there is any way to solve this problem, please do reply...
