Since the last two minor updates I constantly keep getting the error message "SD card removed unexpectedly"... Anyone else experienced this?

Most probably a bad sdcard. There are lots of thread for this here. The solution is to get it replaced.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2331434
I had similar issue and I claimed my warranty to get replacement.
Now everything is working great (so far).
You can also install this app named "SD card monitor" on play store.
It will tell you how many times you card has been failed.
My card was unmounting and then mounting itself lots of time. Mostly in deep sleep mode which make my phone battery drain faster.
I had the same problem in the end the SD card reader stopped working.event on utube to see how easy it was to fix.bought a new SD, sim card reader from eBay £5.70 an easy 10min fix no problems since

I had the same problem with a 32GB Class 4 microSD (SanDisk).
Replaced it with a Class 10 from Kensington and everything worked fine since then.
Please note that the faulty SD card worked fine on a Galaxy mini and mini 2 but I've tested it in the GS4 of my brother and he had the same problem as I had.
Might be a problem with the speed? Class 4 is slower and doesn't work in a GS4?
Just replace it with a Class 10 and it should work.
And a small tip... don't buy SanDisk... many users reported problems with SanDisk.
It seems sandisk sd card are problematic. There are lotsnof issue with sandisk class 10 specifically on 32gb and 64gb.

Mine is a SanDisk 32GB but it's annoying that before the updates I had never had a problem but I'll try and get another sd card and see how it goes. Thanks for the replies

I still don't think this is an sd card problem and more of a software problem as when it sais sd card unexpectedly removed bla bla bla... I can't open up the apps but I can still view files on the sd card open them up etc and it only started happened after the last few updates

It seems to be the card tray loosing contact, I tried pushing on its lower right corner and then it would read. Got a I9506 don't know if its the same problem on all phones.
Perhaps you could fix this by gluing it stuck in this new position

I have had problems with my hero (the only issue mind you) where sometimes my memory card will corrupt if I turn off my phone - for example overnight or to reset the ram etc ... has happened twice
only big things I have on my memory card is co pilot and spotify (which has offline files on it)
can anyone help - is my hero faulty or is does it happen to anyone else ?
great phone apart from this !!
Not a problem with your Phone.
The problem is with your wallet.
Applications such as Co-Pilot and Spotify use data from the memory card a lot.
Mass transfer on a low grade memory card kills it.
you can use a grade 2 for music and photos but go above grade 4 if using co Pilot.
I know the Grade is normally used for speed but also seems to be for reliability.
memory card
thanks for reply - the 8gb im using is a sandisk ,..... what would you suggest ??
how do you tell if a card is grade 2 or 4 ??
thanks in advance
chris
well ive learned something new, never knew that memory cards had this rating ... my card is type 2 .. just ordered a type 4 off ebay .. hopefully the issue wont occur when i get my new card
thank you for your help kindest regards
chris
Lets hope the grade 4 works better for you
for anyone reading this. the grade is in a little circle after the word sandisk.
I agree with iammodo, nearly a year ago when I got my G2 Touch, I bought a 8GB Sandisk Class 6 from Play.com (£19.99), it worked perfectly and seemed to speed-up any memory card intensive apps or processes, but I took it out for use on another device and bought a class 2 8GB, didn't look worse at first, but then problems started occuring after days of use, sloweness, random corrupts, it even corrupts if I mount it or put the phone off for example.
I recently bought the Class 6 8GB from Play.com and I haven't experienced the problems again.
This is my experience, and probably won't happen to someone else, but at least moving back to Class 6 seemed to fix most of the problems.
I'll probably never buy a Class 2 again, I always go for the highest spec in a memory card anyways. Saving up for a 32GB soon, are there Class 6 versions? If not, I'll wait.
Almost burned off my hand trying to take it out of the computer, the adapter may be fried becuase of this. Is there a proper procedure to doing this?
The adapter is kingston
when I put this in the evo it just freezes the phone and it doesn't load up.
I'm running mikg 3.0
sounds like a bad card to me
Is this a newly purchased card?

Ok so im finally getting around to posting about this.
Ever since ive had my S4 (may) ive noticed that I have huge lag when rebooting or shutting down my phone.
It sometimes takes a full 2 mins+ to reboot or shutdown. Startup is fine - maybe 30-45 seconds maybe less.
Its formatted with the phone using the format utility so I believe its exfat??
I only found out it was the sd card cos without it in its off within 2-5 seconds
With my old s3 it doesnt lag. My 32gb card doesnt lag.
What can I do to stop this lag? I almost miss my s3 (wife has it)
Btw its the same with ALL tw roms and all kernels (yes tried them all now)

People who are using the Galaxy S4 and the Sandisk 64GB card claimed to have problems with it.
Most of them got a new card replaced from Sandisk. That's why I use a Samsung card. Did you try a different SD card?

Not a different 64gb card no. Just the 32gb card I have.
Im sure that should mean that the 64gb Sandisk would also cause lag on my old s3 if it was faulty.

Some kernels don't support exFat. Only stock and adam kernel I believe. Have you tried formatting to FAT32? See if that helps. I've got a 64gb Samsung card that works fine can't say I notice a lag.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Im currently on stock kernel. I know some dont support but ones ive tried do.
Im gonna take a video to show the lag later
Swyped on my Omega driven I9505
Here is a vid. This was a relatively short one. But you get the point.
I can film the s3 with the same card restarting instantaneous without any lag

I woukd rate them best in the class..... even better than sandisk ones....
Waiting for the price to drop a little bit more... never see them below 60 $
I have used both the Samsung and the SanDisk with no problems. Cannot recommend one over the other - both fast and reliable.

I use a Sandisk Ultra 64GB micro SD card and have recently removed it due to an overheat problem near the camera/flash area. I did not want to risk burning out the card (9months old) and I was told that removing the card might improve the over heat problem but it has not as of yet.
I have had my Note 3 for less than a month. In the time it has managed to kill two micro SD cards. I thought the first one was just and old card, but the second was brand new. Is this a common thing for these phones? Will T-Mobile replace my phone? Will they replace the SD cards their possibly defective phone killed?
Have you already tried connecting the SD's to the PC?
Try anyway to get swapped the phone when the micro SD aren't working on the PC. This seems to be very unusual!!

Do you live in a warm tempreture ?
Do you run games on it for extended periods of time ?
Are they a decent brand of memory ?
Does your phone run/feel hot most of the time ?
Lots of things could affect this, be sure to alert your carrier and make them aware that it keeps happening.
Ive had my Note 3 since release and a new 32GB sandisk Class 10 and its used A LOT, with no problems whatsoever.
Hope you get this resolved :good:
Usually warm temperatures don't harm that easily the SD, my note 2 hadn't had any issue regarding temperatures. Although when abroad in hot countries then phone heats up to 50°c without frying the interior. (I know it's not good but no other choice.

It's cold here at the moment. Middle of winter. I don't run games on my phone very often at all. I mostly just read e-books and take pictures which are stored in the now dead card. My phone doesn't really stay in any extreme temperatures. Texas winter is mild. Also they are good SD card brands. I can't remember the name at this second.

No the warm temps, cause the phone to heat up faster ( and stay warmer longer) thus*maybe* killing the SD card :angel:

What cards have you been using ? Cheap ones or well known brands ?
Texas #jelous !
Maybe Limlik, always used Kingston and they never died! When I had my Xperia Arc S, the phone was permanently running with over 40°c and nothing fried ^^ I think his phone kills Dr SD completely not by heat :/

Lexar, at this time, are the fastest class of sd cards. They are a pretty decent brand . I know the 256gb class 1 sd card retails anywhere from $499 - $1000+...
Have you rooted? If you have, maybe the cooling control has gone wrong - processor running too high too long

Does your phone gets hot when there is no SD Card in it?
I've read some posts on overheating of the N3 but only if there is a SD card in it. Have you tried to factory reset your phone?
There are people saying that simply turning on the Power Saving mode helps, and others claim that Samsung Knox is the troublemaker and by uninstalling it the issue was gone.
XDA developer App. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100. Using CyanogenMod 10.2.
The second card fried overnight while charging. Knox is disabled via root,
Then use it for a certain time without SD (an hour or so while playing or watching videos.) Then try with Power Saving. When not working try factory reset.

Samsungs kill SD cards. Anecdotal evidence is that Samsung's own MicroSD's seem to be more resilient. There is little to no benefit in using super-fast high end cards as the internal interface speed isn't fast enough to benefit from it.
Googling turns up many threads concerning newer model (S3, S4, Note 2, Note 3) Samsung devices frying MicroSD's.

If I read enough posts, most of the people were using a Class 10 memory card and faced this issue.
samsung told me over the phone class 10 is above the sdcard reader spec's so corruption is likely, they also said 64gig is not supported. Thats one reason I got a samsung branded 32gig class 6 card.

It's what I got, and I think that's right. Just to make something clear, S3, S4, Note 2 and Note 3, aren't supposed to support class 10. If you haven't got that issue good for you I don't have that issue either so I'm quite glad
