MDH8 FW corrupted my sound - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, I already have read that the last FW from samsung done troubles with locked bootloader and sound problems. I tried today flashing MDH8 rom like a stupid asshole. Then I decided to go back to the previous one and at the end I succsessfully reverted back to Omega MH1 but the problem is that All my sounds are gone.. Alarm, music. notifications nothing makes a sound..
Has any body also had it?
What can I do to solve that? Is it possible to solve it for now? Thanks.
Edit: guess Ill have to flash Stock MGG or MH8 trough Odin and then pray to god..

Any body?

It's safe. I was on Stock MH8 and rooted using latest CF-Auto Root and then flashed CWM and installed CM10.2, no troubles at all.
However I heard that once you flash a custom ROM it triggers flash counter and you can't go back to Stock ROM again. Don't know if it's true but another member mentioned it in another thread.
It's probably worth sticking with stock until we know more about it.

you can always just flash the stock rom again with odin as long as you can get into download mode but you loose your data.
are you on 4.4.2 kitkat ? because if so, you need a new version of twrp (or use cwm). there is an unoffical version that supports kk and also the original twrp will get an update soon. theres currently a test build, look at the official thread.
dont use it if you are still on 4.3 !
I really really wish people would search and read before messing with their devices... this is the 800th thread on this again.
Take your battery out, and wait for 60seconds, put back in and try to boot into recovery mode, wipe cache and boot up - OR reflash Stock again.
PS: If you have a Hong Kong Note, you need to go off and read... cause you've made a massive mistake playing.

[Q] newbie question ! customer recovery for 4.4.2?

Hey guys,
I know this is kind of answered in alot of different places but nothing is guiding me to the correct files, just want to be safe and figured this was the best place to make sure i hit the bullseye.
Just updated to poland 4.4.2 kitkat and was looking to install a customer recovery so i could grab the latest version of xnote and a few other goodies. Could someone please guide me to a download section/link for cwm? or maybe twrp? which ever would work easiest

I think my phone is broken. Please Read.

Hey,
I made a thread the other day about getting a good ROM because the others seem to die after 3 days. Does anyone have an idea of why this happens? I have tried 6 different ROMS in 4 days and they all the do the same thing; Apps won't open, phone constantly on boot logo, apps crash, phone freezes up, phone won't boot up.
The phone is around 4 weeks old with minimal wear.
I would appreciate all feedback.

I had CWM 6.0.4.7 flashed and I tried Gooh S5+N4 ROM, S5 stock by Jamal, XNote, Omega and N9005 Dev Base (RC tea I think) and a couple others. When flashing, I did all the normal step, wiping cache, wiping data, dalvik when told and leaving the phone for 10 minutes after it boots.
Do you want any information about the actual phone?

Sorry but I don't like the custom Roms. It's coz they are constantly updating and fixing things, no coz they are bad. Every device don't answer in same way with same ROM either. It's only my opinion . Last choice is always yours.

SM-N915W8 Canadian NOTE EDGE

Hey just got my edge today, looks like there is very little going on as it was just released a few days ago despite it being out in the states for quite some time, the only difference I believe is the LTE in the Canadian version.
Anyways, coming from the note 2, 3 and 4 and the trtlecan version always being close to the trtletmo I decided to risk it and flash the tmo cf auto root and recovery despite there being no stock firmware laying around on sammmobile the others..
annnd I'm happy to report that I now have a TWRP recovery, rooted, SM-N915W8.
go ahead and follow the very detail steps in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993
MAKE SURE TO READ THE PART ABOUT IT FAILING (to flash cwm) AND THAT BEING OK being flashing TWRP
and then the BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS inside recovery which will look like you have sleep lock if you don't fix them before letting the screen timeout
and have all 4 files on hand before you start!
Awesome, thanks for the info, I was debating it but just was being a chicken. I'm glad everything worked out. Did you make a nand? If so did you flash the nand just to make sure everything was OK? Are your root apps working without issues.? I don't mind taking the risk...just wanna be sure

Dont worry about it, someone else who had this problem fixed it by formatting cache - did that and everything went fine.

Tried flashing Hyperdrive Edge for T-Mo with both twrp (2.8.1.1) and cwm (6.0.5.1 Xiaolu) referenced in the root guide by OP. They flashed without error but I got bootlooped both times. Luckily backup/restore works for both recoveries.
Does anyone know of a way to get back to stock recovery after flashing cwm or twrp? Any known location of a stock image?

Go to sammobile web site...download the original firmware for your model and flash it. When u flash original firmware everything will be back to stock including recovery..and you will be able to receive ota update. To flash stock firmware...just use odin. Go to sammobile web site...download the original firmware for your model and flash it. When u flash original firmware everything will be back to stock including recovery..and you will be able to receive ota update. To flash stock firmware...just use odin. Yeah I know about sammobile, flashing via Odin etc. There's no stock firmware uploaded for the Canadian variants yet so I was wondering of an alternate method to flash the stock recovery. I tried extracting the recovery from the stock image via ADB shell, converting to tar.md5, then flashing with Odin but it failed....likely because I'm rooted. Guess I'll have to wait until the firmware gets uploaded. Thanks anyway.
Try contacting the sammobile team...and their forum..they maybe able to help..

Not yet. I check daily. I'm hoping someone will be able to capture it via Kies when Lollipop rolls out. It's only matter of time before sammobile gets it.

Arg, that really bites. Now I have a new phone I cant use at all. You'd think the firmware would be released when the phone was. Have you tried the other roms? I can't even gwt onto my internal sd to put them on the phone so I can try installing them. So frustrated.

SM-N915x ... ?? Canadian note edge
Hello, Same thing here i got my hands a Canadian Demo sm-915x and got told to flash it with stock firmware in order to get the phone working properly. But i cant seem to find any version of the firmware that actually works on it ...
it installed numerous times then when it reboots it shows upgrading packages , it reaches package 6 then reboots and loops over and over...
any guidance or firmware out there to recommend to try ?
Thanks

G900V Stock On Boot Loop

I have an S5 G900V that was rooted to Lollipop. For a couple of days now, when you wake it up the screen sometimes would not work. I would have to turn the screen off for about 30 seconds then it was fine. Well, today I restarted it and now it just reboots. I have gone through odin, with a couple of firmware's for it. Really all I would like to do now, is clear the custom logo. Verizon is sending me a new one, so I dont care if it even works... Thank you for any help,

That would be nice, but it just reboots so I don't have anyway of flashing besides odin.

If you can't get into safestrap, you may have to start over with the unrooted retail tar.

I'm sorry to say, but Safestrap is not showing up for some reason..... It only brings up the default recovery. I tried to wipe it there as well, but it will just bootloop as well...
There wouldn't be some way of shooting a file to it, that would render it useless? I don't want to send it back with the custom logo showing up

You flash the tar in Odin, not SS.

And you flashed the AO8 kernel or firmware after installing the ROM? You have to flash NK2 kernel now to get into Safestrap and AO8 when you're done. SS isn't compatible with 5.0, so you always have to downgrade the kernel to use it.

Yes, I tried both of those kernal's with firmware.... Its odd how its acting like nothing it being flashed to it. My replacement phone should be delivered today, so I guess I will just shoot some juice to it. I was hoping to at least get it running and back to stock, maybe its just not ment to happen.
