hi,
i have a rooted LG P700 with CM10.1 and CWM,
my issue is all my apps and system use sdcard0 (wich is part of internal storage) as external, while sdcard1 is ignored, most of the apps don't have settings to change save file location. in a few days, the 2gb of internal storage is filled, and moving all files by hand is a pain.
is there any way to swap the two storage locations that works on the P700? there seem to be plenty solutions for samsung phones... none for LG though...
i've tried editing the vold.fstab like i've seen in some tutorials, but it only renders the external SD unreadable, restoring the vold.fstab brings it back...
i could really use some help with this, i just bought an 8gb SDcard, to find it's useless
i appreciate any bit of info you could throw at me!
bump please?
if 2gb are full only with games, i can suggest to use "Directory Bind" apk, but only for games, i don`t have any ideas for others apps
i have mostly apps installed, and the kind that create their own files, like the camera app, that needs to place the files somewhere. thank you for the reply!
please, someone!
are there any methods to do this? as i said everywhere on the internet there is no solution for the p700. modifying vold.fstab works on most devices, not mine though... can someone adapt this solution to the p700?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239289
i've attached the framework.jar file
i'm not good at all at scripting, tinkering, and i dont want to brick my phone. please!! i need your help!
:crying:
i don't believe no other L7 owner has this problem, or is annoyed by it...
may be we don't install lots if apps so that 2.3 gb is full,,,u guess if nothing has helped you,,,try titanium backup and move an app to sdcard

I apologize as I tried to search but I suppose I'm not good at that either.
I am trying to point a podcast program to download to my external sd (microsd) card. I cannot figure out how to find the correct patch to tell the program. The stock file explorer says one thing and I downloaded Astro and it tells me another.
I can copy files to the card (I have the camera saving pics there).
What am I doing wrong that I can't figure the path to a created folder on my micro sd card?
Thanks for any help.
mnt/sdcard/extStorages/SdCard/
Thanks. Something is wrong then. I have tried with BeyondPod and Pocketcast to point them to download to the external sd card with no luck.
Anyone have any luck doing this or suggestions?
I agree.
There is something wrong with the way SD card is handled.
Titanium backup for instance only shows 440Mb capacity, Root explorer shows 1Gb and system settings sees it as 32Gb.
Weird!
Surely someone has tried to do what I am trying. Anyone?
Okay, I did a LOT of reading here and I THINK I know what is going on. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Apparently, apps cannot write to the external card including aftermarket file explorers. There might be a fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454178 but it requires root. I have never rooted anything so I am a bit scared to try.
I hope this may help someone else having a similar issue.

Root is easy, just flash the zip file, all done.
Are there any drawbacks to rooting this device?

Yes, you won't be able to play DRM protected films (incl. those from the market) and probably Google Music's MP3 store won't work anymore, too. I'm sure there will be more of the like.
I rooted mine, corrected the SD card's permissions, I'm able to set the font size (which breaks TouchWiz, you'll need to have another launcher installed beforehand) and the more.
But: it's not easily revertable, you would have to flash the original firmware as far as I've read.

Hello Guys!
Searched the whole day for a solution bút nothing really answers my questions, so i will post here.
Is there any chance of moving apps from DeviceMemory (2GB) to the internal USB-Storage (11GB). I tried to use App2SD and tried it with the Android Onboard Tool but nothing will do it. It just keeps moving to external SD.
When the external SD is removed and you try to move an app there is just the advice: "not enough memory".
Addition: My memory option in settings looks like this:
http://s14.directupload.net/images/120513/3rhplf49.png
Total Memory: ~11GB
Other Data (red) - will show what u really use PLUS the amount of the external SD card
Is that the Problem that the OS thinks like in this Pic the USB Storage is too full (more full than its total size ^^) and let you only move to external SD?
Ok, long story short: Is there a way to move apps to the internal USB Storage?
Thanks!
Have you looked to see what's on you're internal sd? Remember that it won't be wiped by a normal ROM flash unless you specify, so data will build up flash by flash.
Sorry, I know it sounds pedantic, but first thing to try.
what spec phone do you have?

If i move an app from applications in settings with the command "move to SD" i will see in the Storage overview that the device Storage gets smaller and the storage from external SD gets bigger.. The USB-Storage (internal SD) stay the same.
The path for the files were /mnt/asec (?) there i found some files..
And the thing with non wipe and data: Got my Note as off. ICS LPY was released and flashed it out of the box with ICS. There is nothing from older roms..
What do you mean with Spec Phone? I have a Austrian Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with official ICS LPY on it running..
PS: The problem with apps cant move to internal storage is also on Galaxy S2 present.
Can anyone try to move apps from device to the internal storage? I think that its a bug in ICS.
First things first, I would recommend downgrading to stock GB, check out Dr. ketans thread in the stickies of the ROM development thread.
It seems unlikely, but since your on lpy, there's a possibility that your data is corrupt, have to say am not sure about this at all.
There's also a thread about the issues with lpy, lpf kernel that's worth reading from abisahara.
Please, anyone else have any further recommendations, please ignore me.

------
double-post sorry..
First of all thanks for your attempt to help me out.
But whats the sense of downgrading? And nope, data isn´t corrupt can move things from pc to the phone without any problem, everthing is OK.
The only problem is to move Apps to internal USB-Storage (11GB) that wont work. There are others too with this problem and their phone never touched custom rom or anything, just the official ICS OTA Update.
Btw. i remeber i saw peopole with Galaxy S2 with the same problem on the net.
You have a Note too - try it for yourself to move apps from Device Mem (2GB) to Internal USB.Storage (11GB). I bet it wont work. Its not a special problem to me i think its a general problem.
Also is the data corruption not an effect from wiping? Havent wiped my phone yet one time..
regards.
Data corruption occurs from any large data movement, weather it's wipe, or deleting large files, there's suggestion that 2GB is the danger point but I experienced issues after writing a 500mb file that started fcs across the board.
I'm more than likely overreacting and apologies for this. Maybe someone with more experience can help better.

Hey.
Just forget the data corruption, man! I´m fine with this till now and that doenst belong to my problem..
I just want to put some apps (e.g angry birds) to my internal USB Storage and that dont work i only can move apps to the real external SD, other people have the problem too and i want to know if this is on all ICS releases from Samsung with splitted memory??
@Jaysus88, I understand your problem and frustration since I have the exactly same problem and frustration. After some search, I feel the problem may be because some phone manufacturers disabled the "Move to USB storage" capability. BTW, my phone is Samsung Galaxy Note-N7000 with ICS.
I just registered the account to share potential solutions. I was suggested two solutions (I haven't got chance to try them myself yet):
1. Root the system and somehow re-partition the internal storage to increase "Device memory" (and shrink "USB storage").
2. Add an actual SD card and "Move to SD card" instead of "Move to USB storage".
(just realized that new users cann't post links :-( )
Both 1 and 2 have limitations that I don't know for sure:
For 1, is it really possible to re-size the storage partitions after rooting the phone?
For 2, ICS may not support some SD cards; moving too many apps to SD card may also cause rebooting issues for Android (we can easily find a lot of complaints about this issue, such as the Android issue id 25563 on google code).
If you find another more robust solution, I would love to hear about it! This is another reason I registered my account.
Hi!
Found that in Themes & Apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652079
This will change the mounting points for external and internal SD. It should work.
For myself i leave it as it is.
I just got my v500 and rooted/flashed kitkat (Mahdi Rom) and I was wondering if anyone figured out a way to get apps to SD on the device. I tried the kitkat SD fixer first. When that didn't work, I tried link2sd, which despite trying multiple different file systems, I could not get to work completely (wanted to move app as well as app data). Then I tried foldermount, which works for individual files/folders, but when I try to move android data/off it just tells me to use a sub-directory.
So I was just looking here to see if anyone has managed to do it and how.
Thanks
EDIT: reposted in Q&A as this is the wrong place. Sorry folks
You're trying to actually install apps on your sd card, not just save space on your internal? I don't know that any apps still give that ability? I too use folder mount to save space for my big game files but the app itself is still installed to the internal.

Hey guys,
I haven't found any info on the forums about this yet. Does anyone know how to/or have a modified vold.fstab for the stock TouchWiz rom?
I have a general idea on what to do, but I'd rather not attempt this one by myself!
Thanks in advance - zmag

That's not what he's talking about. He wants to use his extSdCard as his internal storage. I used that on my s4 with a 64gb class 10 with awesome results
Hehe well you're correct thatsupnow, but I did consider Link2SD Pro - but I would rather edit the vold.fstab directly (and correctly)
There's also an app on the play store (free) called Root External 2 Internal SD, but it looks like it was made for the GS3 - again, would rather edit the source than install another app.
I am using NextAppSDFix at the moment, until I install Xposed and use the Xposed mod (which I suppose is no different than using the app)
But I havent seen any modded vold.fstab files for the GS5 yet, which honestly is surprising to me. I figured someone would've had one by now...
Maybe there's a rom that has this already? and can be used on the stock ND2 rom? Any input on the subject is greatly appreciated. Just wanna use my 64gb card instead of having 10gb.
Thanks in advance! - zmag
Yeah man development has been pretty slow. I wonder if the mod for the s4 could be manipulated to work on the s5?

You didn't search very far if you didn't run smack into at least half a dozen forum threads detailing various ways to swap the internal and external SD cards. Not to mention threads that explain at length how to edit vold.fstab. However, while vold.fstab maps sysfs devices to filesystem mount points, it isn't a good idea to edit it directly as an update would easily break your mod..
A better method is to swap the internal and external SD cards is to employ a script to remount the two storage locations. Then transpose them using the -bind switch. A script to do this can be found here.
.
Ok, well I meant in the S5 forums - I didn't know that the S4 scripts applied at all.
Sorry for the trouble... I'm coming from an HTC Evo 4G LTE, I'm still getting acquainted with Samsung's file system.
I don't plan on updating from ND2 any time soon. If I do, I usually try and make a nandroid backup first just in case anything breaks on me.
Thanks again for the help!
my samsung s5 is not detecting the microsd
please help.
i tried in other cells the microsd and its working, and with a root software i can see that the cell read the microsd, but i cant use ir and i need more space in my cell.
or if someone please can copy and paste here the vold.fstab for the verizon samsung s5.
thanks
vold.fstab g900v
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host
Don't know if it helps
My last phone had no internal SD, and no problems.. The G3 has an internal sd and I cannot write to External at all due to some sort of security feature -- even with root. In Xplore File Manager it has a workaround to transfer files to the Android/data folder, but I didn't realize and made a nandroid backup to Ext-SD in TWRP before trying my first rom and nothing was written and no error given, thus losing all my data (Luckily I made a stock backup and copied to PC for archive before any modding).
Is there a way to unlock this "feature" on the G3 or is my external sd basically useless? This was one of the main selling points vs the Nexus for me.. Really disappointed.

That's it? Amazing, thank you for the quick response and sorry for being to lazy to search.. Was at work and just popped into my head to ask.
Edit: are you using it on your g3? Some comments say it doesn't work on 4.4 and to use foldermount instead.. I know were still on 4.2 on the 852, but if ill need to switch again id rather use the most permanent fix available.
I'm going to try this regardless, just curious what everyone uses to work around this.. Also, what xplore app do you use to utilize this fix. Not seeing an "official" xplore app.
Its funny, on the main display card in phone dealers it says memory upgradable to 128gb.. I find it humorous that your average person would not be able to easily use it without being savvy with computer/phone tweaking.. Ran into a similar issue on my roommates xperia j, forcing me to try apps like app2sd which did not work well at all either -- very frustrating to say the least. I honestly fail to see the reasoning for the complexity here as you can easily have multiple storage mediums on a computer.. This "security feature" makes no sense to me. Lol
Edit: I need to rely more on google than asking redundant questions. For future reference, googling "xposed framework installer" yielded a result for the main XDA thread for it.. *facepalm*
