[Q] Stock 4.2.2 JDQ39 Flashable Rom? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't seem to be able to find a flashable rom for stock 4.2.2. I'm trying to update to 4.3, but there are some things wrong with my current rom which seems to make the update unable to work because it doesn't think my rom is stock.
Is there a download link to a 4.2.2 flashable rom file?
Thank you in advance.

Just flash the 4.3 Full Package or a ROM. No reason to be on 4.2.2 to update to 4.3.

So I have to find a flashable 4.3 rom, because flashing .tgz cannot be done. Correct?

A .tgz isn't a flashable file. Its a extractable.
Just do yourself the simple route and flash a 4.3 ROM.

Stupid question, which factory image should I download and flash?

I'm currently running 4.2.1 and want to upgrade to 4.2.2.
So can I just download the 4.2.2 factory image and flash that, or do I have to download 4.2.1 and then do the OTA update?
Thanks.

The factory images are images in their own right, ie download 4.2.2 only and flash it.

Thanks for link but Wow....I'm confused on what all I need to download.
If ur looking for stock rooted use one of the TW roms...3 links titled 'stock mdl or mf9 or mdc' depending on ur update. U can find that out by checking 'about device' under settings/more. Its the last 3 letters of software version.
Hope this helps.

You can just use any stock rooted rom but make sure you do a factory reset.

this is what Id do...someone jump in if I am incorrect about something...
your on sacs, so you must already have a recovery - twrp or cwm.
See what update you have...mdc, mdl, or mf9 and download that stock ROM zip file.
Find a stock kernel listed down on that page and download that (since you want the stock experience).
put both on your sdcard.
boot into recovery and wipe data/cache/davlik ( I do it 3 x)
Flash the ROM, then flash the kernel.
I think that should do it.

[Q] Downgrade from stock 4.3 to custom 4.2

I have a Nexus 4 with 4.3 stock, root, unlocked bootloader and custom recovery.
Can I install a custom 4.2 rom just flashing it through the recovery?
I know that downgrading to stock 4.2 is possible but not so simple. So I'd like to know if dowgrading to custom 4.2 is easier.
Thanks in advance

I'm wondering if with a custom rom I can just do a single flashing from custom recovery.
BTW, I will try to downgrade to stock 4.2. After some reading doesn't look so much hard.

Yes you can also simply flash a 4.2 rom via your recovery. Thats probably the more practical way, since flashing the stock images will remove your custom recovery and you will have to reflash it.

You will have to flash a 4.4 rom first ( official or leaked doesn't matter ) because you need to update your bootloader to run 4.4. No root won't stay so you will have to re-root and install custom recovery too. Also, you can't go back to 4.3 once you update to 4.4.

Official is a single file you put in AP/PDA so it's easier and less confusing which files goes where.

Download THIS - put your device into download mode, unrar the .zip load the file into PDA slot and hit start.
It's the single Official Polish ROM

Downgrade to 4.3

I was wondering if I could possibly downgrade back to android 4.3 on my gt-i9500 by just flashing the stock firmware using odin. I'm currently on stock rooted TouchWiz firmware android 5.0.1.
And if there is a TWRP flashable stock android 4.3 ROM, kindly tell me.
Your help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

The only TWRP flashable stock ROMs are custom TouchWiz based ROMs.

I heard that, when trying to flash older firmware than the one on your device, Odin fails due to some downgrade restrictions.
Wit that being said, it's not impossible to downgrade. You just have to workaround those restrictions. Maybe by following a guide.
