Hi guys, I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 Rogers Canadian version that came with TouchWiz out of the box. When I heard that 4.3 Jellybean was out, I immediately tried looking for a guide to flash my S4. In the end, I flashed it, everything seems to be working, but I am not sure If i flashed it the right away. This isn't my main problem, just summarizing what i have done to my phone incase it might help.
So my problem is, I can't flash my phone with CyanogenMod 10.2. I went into recovery mode with CWM and I erased Data, cache and delvik cache. Install from external SD zip --> clicked the CM 10.2 Nightly file and it installs. Rebooted phone and it wouldn't boot up, samsung logo would show up but it would just turn off right after. After that i went into recovery mode and deleted the delvik cache and rebooted and to no avail, same thing happened.
So in my head, i was thinking that maybe its not working because i flashed the stock 4.3 wrong. So i downloaded a stock 4.2.2 Rogers Canadian Rom and tried doing the same procedure to install that, but this time i got an error saying (might not be the exact error, just thinking from the top of my head) " E: can't open /external_sd (bad)" I had researched this error and people were telling me it was from a corrupted file, so I downloaded another one. This time it didn't say anything, just said "Aborted (sorry somewhere along those lines i completely forgot)"
Please, please help me. I am so frustrated and confused.

Alright... where to begin? Lets start at what happened around yesterday. Prior to the whole weekend, I had CyanogenMod 10.1 installed on my rooted S4. Come Friday, I start to miss some of the stock Samsung features such as Air Gestures, Smart Stay, the stock Samsung camera, and all that. So, I install WanamLite (a custom rom) on my phone. It's good and all but for some reason, the Smart Stay isn't working. To fix this, I go online and start digging; I find people saying "yo, revert back to the original firmware and re-install the Rom, that should fix your LTE problem." I think to myself, "maybe this could help me too." And that's exactly what I do. I go online to SamMobile and download this ROM (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/?page=1&model=SGH-M919V&pcode=0#firmware). It installs with Odin and I was able to get back to the Stock Samsung firmware. I then proceed with my plan and install WanamLite; that also worked. So I'm all happy and stuff 'cause Smart Stay finally works but, shortly after fiddling with the re-stocked device, I get bored again. So, I start searching the forums for another rom to replace WanamLite (it was a good rom, but I wanted to try something else before settling down on it).
I find this ROM in the XDA-Developers S4 forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303239. I try installing it; it works fine. But then, I notice that half my SD card is used up. So, I go into TWRP and click on Format Data (I'm not too sure about the name, I had CWM prior to the re-installation of Samsung stock firmware). After resetting the Data, I boot back into the phone and notice that the default layout is Easy Mode. (On the bright side, I freed 4 GB from my SD card). Easy Mode's incredibly annoying, so I wrestle with the phone for a while to change the launcher to Nova launcher, but to no avail. In the end, I decide to reflash the FoxHound ROM. I place the rom on my phone and boot into TWRP. That's where the problem comes. I selected: wipe cache, wipe delvic cache, wipe data. Then I wiped the cache and data, flashed the rom and, after that is when the phone started refusing boot up. From then on, it just displayed Samsung Galaxy S4 logo on the screen whenever I tried to start it.
What I tried to fix the issue: Re-installing the stock samsung firmware. (I think I ended up screwing up the phone even more with this. Before, I had TWRP installed but I couldn't boot into it, now I don't have any custom recovery installed and I still can't boot into the phone).
I can access the Download Mode and use Odin. I cannot boot into the recovery. When I hold Volume Up + Power + Home, it just says recovery in blue above the logo, and then, the phone reboots.
So, any ideas on how to fix it?
TL;DR: Tried installing FoxHound Rom. I wiped Delvic Cache, Cache, and Data, and after flashing the rom, the phone refused to boot up; it gets stuck on the Samsung logo. Before flashing, I did Format Data. After being unable to boot into the phone, I tried to flash the Stock Samsung Firmware on my S4. Nothing worked. Any ideas on how I should proceed?

Try using Odin mode to install Stock Samsung Firmware...
If it doesn't work,
Install Samsung Kies, put Phone into Odin mode, connect the USB and let KIES reinstall the whole firmware... Go to "Tools" -> "Emergency Firmware Recovery"

I've already tried flashing the Stock Samsung Firmware using Odin, it didn't work. Also, I'm having no luck with Kies; it won't connect. Any other suggestions? :/
EDIT 1: Okay, so here's the deal right now: I was able to flash TWRP using ODIN. This granted me access to my recovery, somehow. So right now, I have the FoxHound_GearEngine0.2 ROM installation files on my SD card and I am booted into the recovery. What should I do? Should I try flashing again? For now, I'll just wait for a response.
EDIT 2: Out of curiosity and impatience, I tried flashing FoxHound but got an error:
Updating Partition Details
E: unable to mount data
E: unable to mount internal storage
TWRP v. 2.5.0.3
Go into the advanced menu in TWRP and try to mount data / internal storage. If you can't, then you're back to odin unless someone can find out something else

I tried to; it didn't work. I also tried clockworkmod recovery. That recovery said it said that the data was already mounted. For some reason, now the phone is stuck in a bootloop. On the bright side, I can freely access my recovery (although I can't do much in it). Should I try flashing other stock roms?
EDIT: Flashing the stock rom brought it back to the state it was in earlier. So now, it just hangs on the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen and no longer reboots continuously. I'm thinking of downloading other stock roms and flashing those.
UNBRICKED

Alright, after struggling around with the device, I was able to unbrick it. I downloaded the stock ROM from samfirmware and flashed it using odin. After flashing it, it would stay on the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo and that's it and I wasn't able to boot into the recovery either. So, I flashed TWRP using odin and download mode, and found I was able to boot into recovery again. Screwing around with the recovery, I couldn't manage to do much so I decided to re-flash the stock firmware. After re-flashing, I had the same problem. This time, I tried accessing the stock recovery. I got access, which was something I couldn't get before. After getting access, I did Factory Reset/Data (it was something along those lines) and did a wipe cache. After wiping cache, the phone rebooted and, much to my delight, it was unbricked. After going through this, I think I might just like chill for like a month, or a year now with stock... .__.
Hahah nice job

Next time don't wipe data in custom recovery because it will corrupt your data which would most probably end with not booting past the Samsung logo, if you want to wipe in a custom recovery for now you have to manually wipe system, cache and dalvik cache located in mounts in cwm recovery (not sure where to find it in twrp).
You should read a little before messing with things in recovery.
Ahahah that's funny because something similar happened to me. And I was going to suggest doing a factory reset via recovery because that's how I resolved my problem, then I see you did just that! (Y)

Hello Everyone. I flashed the 4.3 Google Edition Rom and after about a day of use it crashed. I booted into TWRP and attempted to boot into the system to find that It would say the typical 'Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 bla bla.' I then went back to TWRP and attempted to flash the backups of Stock TouchWiz via my 32gb SD Card (note my s4 is 16gb) and it would come up with failed and prompted me to wipe dalvic cache ect. Stressing out I went on to odin and flashed an Optus Carrier Stock Touchwiz Firmware. This did not work either making me still boot loop. I was however unrooted and did not have a custom recovery. And here we are now, I re-flashed root and TWRP attempting again to flash my backups and once again they fail on me.
Please. Any help would be highly appreciated. I currently have a phone with stock touchwiz (which doesnt boot), TWRP and Root flashed aswell. Thats It. Once again please. Ive checked plenty of other threads however they were all fixed some way or another.
Thanks for your Help Everyone..!

just flash any original firmware via odin!
for example I9505XXUBMF8_I9505OXABMF8_I9505XXUBMF8
after that boot into stock recovery and wipe/delete data.
this should help.
also i wouldn't use any ge firmware until it's official released.
there are some bugs like you can't enter sim code or very heavy battery usage
good luck
if you've already tried standard ROM for i9505 and it did not helped - your bootloader was changed during the flash of Google ROM.
What do you need now: full ROM which would include bootloader, pit etc., and flash it with repartition.
P.S. ask any mod to move this thread to Q&A section, where it shall be...
DONE!
Guys, thanks for all your replies! I found a solution. I used an older version of odin and did a factory reset with the stock recovery. thx for all ur help again. I was just really stressed at the time so..! haha
Have the same problem with my Galaxy S4 Google Edition
I just bought a Google Ediion Galaxy S4 from the play store, and I followed the instructions in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341162). And my phone is screwed, it is stuck with the black screen and the Google Logo in the background. I can get into download and recovery mode, but only when I take the battery out first then reboot it in either mode. Can anyone help me please?

Go in recovery mode and clear the caches and optionaly do a data factory reset.
Please search the forums first for a solution to your problem ,there is plenty of bootloop threads.

Hi,
I think you can use Odin and flash your ROM via USB.
Do you have a backup ROM?

Background: So i bought this used S5 900f from someone and it gave me "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" error while rooting and installing recovery. i found a workaround for this error by immediately pulling the battery trick after root. I have installed TWRP and root and they work but this "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing error" still displays when i try to enter recovery for about 2-3 seconds and then the recovery boots.
Now the Problem is : My s5 900f is not saving Wifi password on any of the lollipop builds i have tried Many UK 5.0 (BTU) Builds from Sammobile , and Nordic Countries 5.0 as soon as i restart or shutdown m phone Wifi password is reset and i have to enter it again after turning my phone on again. Surprisingly When i downgrade to any of the kitkat Builds Wifi starts saving passwords just fine?
Things i have tried
Format, Clear dalvik cache, cache, data, system, internal Storage and install different 5.0 builds.
Enabling disabling Google backup, it doesn't help.
Kindly Help me out does Wifi not saving password has anything to do with this "Seandroid not enforcing Error" . And how to fix this issue i am at verge of smashing this phone. .....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/s5-forget-wifi-passwords-reboot-fix-t3105976
Thanks alot buddy, you just saved my phone....Phewwww do you know why it happened in the first place?
Buggy ROM is all I can think, it happened to me with a clean install of the latest LP ROM so I went looking for a fix for myself
I tweeted to Samsung UK about it, and they just talked to me like I was stupid, I guess they don't want to admit to it being their fault
UPDATE NOW after the build prop fix, i rebooted fine once... After installing TWRP the phone is crashing on boot up....touchwiz crashes along with all other programs it wont let me boot up. Maybe TWRP messed something up.
Try clearing the caches from recovery, the build.prop fix doesn't cause any issues like that, but I've had issues after flashing custom TWRP before, generally clearing caches / pulling battery fixes it

Some folks are able to flash any 5.0 build and they don't get the Build.Prop issue. i just reflashed and the issue came back...will re edit the build.prop till now i have rooted + installed TWRP no issues so far only build.prop left to be edited..... could you please tell me why is it persistent on some phones that even reflashing, formating doesn't help.
Unfortunately Nothing works....I have been more than patient with this device...been flashing and trying different things for 18 hours now. It works fine but after going to recovery (Just by entering it) and then rebooting will freeze my phone with "Unfortunately Media storage has stopped working...and everything else like touchwiz also crashes".......i was so...so wrong to move to a samsung This Definitely is my last samsung phone...for now i will keep trying different things.
Try a different recovery, Philz Touch, CWM etc
Are you definitely flashing the latest TWRP?
The way I install TWRP is using TWRP Manager from G Play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager&hl=en_GB
Install BusyBox first or it'll prompt you before doing anything
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en_GB
The defaults it prompts you to change for locations can be left as they are

Should be able to find everything you need here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697523
Instructions for ADB manual install, and also ODIN
Philz is a big favourite over CWM - Id try Philz first
Strange your same model S5 takes a fit with TWRP, it works fine on my G900F
Might be worth trying the App install method I posted

Thanks for your Help, i guess this problem is too complicated. Anyway this time i installed Philz recovery > formatted everything > remove user content and data > custom formatted everything > flashed 5.0 BTU. and surprisingly its saving WiFi passwords without any build prop changes. So i am going to leave it here . 5.0 Unrooted with stock recovery everything working (FOR NOW) . This time i used Odin 3.10 instead of 3.07. I hope it does not get stuck at boot logo and start crashing. Only one problem it kept connecting to "update server" evem tho i had disabled the auto update option from settings>about >updates . i restarted immediately hopefully it wont try to update again. Thanks again for your help.
The first issue I started to notice after rooting via Odin & TWRP was when trying to flash the iOS and WP ROMs from this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/3oss-project-samsung-galaxy-tab-4-7inch-t3081478 , it would fail. I was able to successfully flash the Google ROM from same post. I believe it was with one of the other ones that it even said successful yet when i went to reboot said no OS installed. So, I figured update my TWRP to newest version, maybe that was the problem. Well after updating, now when i go to wipe/factory reset it either says unable to mount or it doesnt even make it that far and reboots system. I tried flashing PIT file with Odin and issue persists. Everything still works smoothly but any help fixing this issue would be much appreciated as I do not want to dirty flash anything. Thanks in advance.
So now...after flashing stock firmware, it boots all the way to nook screen (right after samsung logo) and stops. I can boot into TWRP but it still says unable to mount data. Also, in TWRP when i click mount, the only one already checked is cache. I can manually select all others except data. When i go to install, the internal sd has absolutely nothing on it...really hope i didn's completely mess it up, sometimes my eagerness to learn gets the better of me. Thanks again for any help!
I have the same issue, im stuck
