Hello,
I know this has been discussed so many times and in so many places. But I need help...
My tab came with middle east version of the firmware and it has so many things in there that I dont want. I want to install the latest European version of the firmware and I dont really care about Arabic support.
I tried this once (got the firmware from SAMFIRMWARE.com - XXJMA) and tried by luck with Odin..all I got in the end was a brick. I got samsung to bring my Tab back to life..but now I want to do it again. Could some one PLEASE give detailed descr. on how I can install the European firmware on my tab? Appreciate your help.
PS: I AM a noob!
Hi first things first make sure your tab is unlocked sim lock off
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
My tab is unlocked and the sim lock is off.
I beleive my mistake was something to do with the PIT file and repartition.
what i did was flashed JM6 first then JMA
Just select the whole JMA.tar file as PDA. No repartition, PIT, Phone or CSC.
Flash. If it doesn't reboot after flash, reboot into recovery so it completes the install. Done.
thanks for the info..but if you look at http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-p1000.htm it says I need to use P1.pit for both the versions. Now i am confused. Please comment....
sorry yes use p1.pit
OK. Thanks...to summarize..
1. Switch on USB debug on tab
2. kill Kies
3. Start Odin (after going to download mode on the tab)
4. select the pda file (.jar) and the .pit.
5. Ensure repartion is switched off
6. start! once this is done, repeat for the second pda file.
Some more questions...
a. Now I dont understand why I need to use the JM6 first and then the JMA. Why not directly try JMA?
b. Also, I am right about the repartition? Last time I remember when I selected the .pit file, the repartition came on automatically. But by the time I realised it, it was too late. The process had already started and it never ended.
c. How long does it normally take for the update process to end?
Thanks for your help. Hopefully this time I wont brick the tab.
im interested in this thread too. I dont really know how to flash to Euro firmware. If there is any people want to share what they did, I appreciate.

you have to create an account here . there, on the bottom of the page you'll find a PDF file with everything what you need and also a video..enjoy
JMA is an update of JM6
that 's why you need the JM6 first
To flash it in JM6, I ve used Odin
set the pit file , the PDA PHONE and CSC
for the JMA refer to the JMA thread
1. Would someone please guide us to the JMA thread? I tried and couldnt find anything!
2. Also, there is no CSC file specified in samfirmware.com. I can see the download links for them on the website, but how do I know which one to use?
3. I just noticed on samfirmware there is a JMC version available now. Is that another update to the JM6? Can I go directly to JMC without the JMA ?
These questions should prove the 'noob' tag!
:EDIT!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884343
a. That has clearly explained the way to do it..but my ONLY question now is how do I know which CSC file to select.
b. The author mentioned something about 850 + 1900 and the modem. How does that affect the whole process? We would like the whole range.
HI
This is Just for People who want to flash 2.3.4 firmware or any other firmware but don't want to root their phones like me.
Again All Posts are within XDA and Due Thanks to the OP's and DEVS
I'll Try to be as informative and clear as possible ( Its more for the newbies )
First off all it has been stated this 2.3.4 is leaked and not official
So lets Begin
1. Install latest Kies of samsung > connect your phone and make sure all drivers are Installed and your phones is recognised in Kies > Backup if you wanna
2. Close Kies ( make sure its not running in the system tray) > Install ODIN
Get Odin v1.85 from here: http://www.multiupload.com/1RTGSE061G
Just extract Odin folder and keep the odin3.ini file in it.
How to USE ODIN in SECOND POST
3. Download your 2.3.4 Firmware ( or any other firmware you wish to flash)
a) Download Link Stock XXKG1 : http://www.multiupload.com/2EMBQMYF4V (via ficeto) or If you can find other links
and Extract It > you should have four files:
b) CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship (goes into PDA section)
GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1 (Goes into CSC section)
MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110 (Goes into Phone section)

Flashing Firmware with Odin
1. Just download the firmware version you want from above and extract the .tar file in the archive and save it somewhere
2. Reboot your phone to download mode.
To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button .
You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode!
3. Start Odin
4. Click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar file that you extracted in step 1
If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin
5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
Anyone ask about .pit file is a moron
Should look like this screenshot
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/5705/odinm.jpg
If the package has 3 files it should look like this:
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/8290/odinxm.jpg
Regardless of firmware version it's still the same methodology
6. Connect the USB cable and wait for the ID:COM section to turn yellow
7. Click start to flash
8. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device, it will reboot when it finishes.
It will not wipe your phone if you flash as recommended
Will I loose all my data and programs?
let me be the first to thank you
i am coming from iphone4 so all these terms and apps are new to me, and while i can use the search function a lot of times it takes several pages of read-thru to piece together what you have put in 1 concise post
btw i love the SG2 and android platform, steve jobs can toss my salad
If you flash any 2.3.3 you don't seem to loose any data... but yeah updating to 2.3.4 you do loose data and programs.
I didn't have many programs, but market restored most of them from me, and good to backup first.
Also kies gives me that I can't update firmware maybe cause its the latest one and it don't recognise the firmware.
Please be aware this is a leaked version, so if you want you could wait for the official one, I so far had no problems whatsoever
Just one noob question, SII being my first android phone, i assume that in order not to lose warranty you still have to use USB jig to reset rom counter if something bad happens, right ?

If you are using stock kernel there is no counting in custom binary,so no problem with your warranty. You can check your counter if you go to download mode.By the way usb jig is always usefull.

Is it possible to use another CSC from older stock releases together with this? ie, flashing this, and then after that flashing the multi CSC "MultiCSC OXXKF1" for instance? The reason im asking is that ppl have reported this rom to not include the nordic keyboard's for swype etc, and thats sort of a gamebreaker for me.

tanx so much!!!..i`m downloading...keep it up bro
There is one thing I don't understand how to do. Before I flash my firmware with the new 2.3.4 version, I would like to take a copy of my existing firmware from my phone first and save it to my PC. So that I have the option of putting my phone back to how it was if for some reason I want to revert my phone. I understand that I would need to buy a jig to reset the update counter.
So is it possible to save my existing firmware to my PC first?
I did try looking at the download page but there were so many different countries and carrier versions that I found it confusing. I am stock KF3 uk unbranded O2 still running 2.3.3
Thanks
Thank you tfn. Great instructions, I am loving the new update.
Odin is the saviour tool for all Samsung devices. The method for flashing by Odin differs from device to device.
This thread will give step by step instructions on how to flash a stock rom from Odin on the GT-I9070/p :
A. Download Odin tools from here : http://d-h.st/3zJ
Pass : shaaan
B. Download the stock rom from www.samfirmware.com
Setting up Odin :
1. Make sure you have installed the necessary drivers for this device. The drivers can be installed from within KIES or seperately. (I will upload the drivers shortly).
2. Run Odin as administrator.
3. Setting up the files is divided in two types depending on the firmware type :
a. If the firmware is a multi package file, put the files in the corresponding sections.
ie. CSC file in CSC section, PDA file in PDA section.
b. If the firmware is a single package, add the single file in the PDA section.
4. Now that Odin is setup, put the phone in download mode. To do that, power off the phone and press 'home+power+volume down' buttons together. Keep the buttons pressed till Download mide appears.
5. Now that Odin and the phone are setup, connect the phone to the device. Odin will detect the device and show something like 'com port (1)'
6. Flash the device.
7. The flash will take 5 minutes for a full flash on average.
8. When the flashing is complete, DO NOT remove the device until Odin shows ' PASS '.
9. The device will reboot. Remove the device, go to recovery mode and do a factory/data reset.
That's it. Happy flashing peeps..!!
Awesome guide mate - messing around with our device without Odin is risky !
This should be sticky. A lot of people is asking how to revert to original FW, or similiar questions that is connected to reverting. And it is almost at the end of forum, and thay cant see it.
I pmed the mods to do it. But they won't budge..
Please pm them..

And adding images would be a nice option.

From what I was able to find in other guides it is ONLY 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time' to be checked.
All others to be unchecked.
There are some posts not to bother with that .pit file that is inside Odin .zip file.
Odin package from sammobile got 2 .pit files for 8GB - GT-I9070_EUR_XX_8G and GT-I9070_EUR_XX_8G_20111220_KL6 and one for 16GB
(at least paired with XEO region XXLD1) not only that one we got in link form 1st post.
I was also able to find some info that if you use .pit check also 'Re-Partition'.
Now I am curious about if It would be good idea for me to actually Re-Partition my phone - bought it used (not new) and my PC detects only 4GB of internal SD. Will it increase custom binary counter? (so far it is at 0 and I would rather keep it that way)
Is it going to fix that issue so I will be able to use all 8GB (minus system partition)?
If so how to use it and what .pit file to take?
.pit only, re-partition only and run it once, then single-package as PDA with reboot and F. Reset on another flash run?
Or maybe all at once?
BTW you guys ROCK.

googled a bit more and found it out too :crying:
BTW - both of those 8GB .pit files are identical (according to 'comp' tool in windows) so there is no reason to use re-partition - other than sth went totally wrong and you are trying to recover from brick or sth serious as this .pit file is already on your device.
Just flashed unbranded stock for XEO region - original one was branded.
NOTE to anyone who is still thinking about safety of this method:
After initial reboot - when it was reconfiguring in recovery mode - or however you will call it (just before odin should say 'pass' - still in that little font screen) windows started to reinstall usb drivers - odin log in bottom corner said 'disconnected' and even then my newly flashed ROM is working as it should. I would rather keep it connected till Odin confirms all went as intended but in case of similar issue - do not get heart attack

How are you? I´m new on the i9070 threads!!! I´ve had others phones before, like SG2, xperia sola, live with walkman... so, i need the password to descompress odin... i search on thread but i don´t found it...
SORRY I found the password... shaaan
Of what I understand, can I test an unlimited number of stock firmware and the binary counter remain 0?
If I flash an unbranded firmware can I use SIM cards from other providers?
Now my phone is branded and I can not use SIM cards from other providers.
Thanks.

Hello, i recently purchased my galaxy s4 from online which came from Honk Kong, Because it is from there i believe it has the honk kong/chinese firmware on it (I9505ZHUAME3), I live in Australia so i want to flash it with its firmware (I9505XXUBMEA),so i have downloaded the australian firmware and kernel files, my phone is currently not rooted (i dont believe i need to root for a stock firmware?), Just wondering when i put my phone in download mode and open up odin, do i only need to put in the firmware file into pda or will i need to get a csc file or whatever the 'phone' button file is for aswell. Just making sure as i only got it the other day and dont want to screw it up. Thanks in advance!

This should answer all of your questions. If you are still unsure, let me know.
"How to do it:
Step 1) Turn OFF your mobile and go to Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home Buttons together for few seconds followed by Power button then proceed with volume up.
Step 2) Now open ODIN on your PC and connect your Galaxy S4 to your computer.
Step 3) Once your phone is successfully connected to your PC, the ID:COM box on ODIN will turn blue (or yellow) and will show the COM port number.
Step 4) unzip the downlowded file (from second or third post), u will get a Home.tar file.
Step 5) click on pda (in odin) and choose the file "Home.tar"
Step 6) check "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" options and make sure that "Re-Partition" is unchecked
!!!!DO NOT CHECK "Nand Erase All" IN ANY WAY!!!!
Step 7) Click on Start button in ODIN window to start the flashing process. The process will take few minutes to complete.
DO NOT UNPLUG USB CABLE WHILE EXECUTING THE PROCESS, YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE!
Step 8) When the installation is completed, you read a "Reset " then a "Pass". your phone will restart (first boot will take a longer time so don't panic)"

So you are using 3.07 and you can put it in download mode ? Are you then able to have the device recognized by odin ? You are then trying to flash the same firmware that came on your phone stock ?

Did you do a checksum on the file you downloaded? I tried installing a modem on my i337m, same thing odin failed... downloaded the same file from a different source and success... unfortunately there was no md5 number on the file to do a checksum or I would have done that first.... when it comes to stuff like this I alway do checksum if the md5 is provided... (most times it is)

Download checksum tool from here http://download.cnet.com/MD5-SHA-Checksum-Utility/3000-2092_4-10911445.html its free. Then you find the md5 number on the site you downloaded from and use the tool to compare the numbers, typically you navigate to the directory the file is in (this gives you the md5 number, then you copy paste the md5 number from the site, then click the compare button, if they don't match your download is not good and should download again and repeat the checksum.
