Hi guys,
I'm coming from the S3 so I'm not very familiar with the N4. I just received my N4 today already, rooted and flashed it. The only issue now is, I'm not able to download all my old applications back. The 1st time it did it by itself but after a clean reboot. On playstore/ My apps under all, I have all my apps there but it seems I have to click them 1 by one is there a way to get them downloaded all at once?
Thank you

There is no such button to download all the apps at once from play store.
You should backed up your apps+data via Titanium backup.
always follow a practice to make a nandroid backup before flashing anyithing. Also make backup for all you apps and their data using apps like TB, Go backup pro. :good:

Hi
I´ve flashed a new rom today (MMuzzy Rom) and did a backup (NANDROID with TWRP) before.
Now that i wanted to restore my device i just wondered that there are still no apps.
Then i noticed the download icon on top and noticed that my phone downloads now my 123 apps ive installed before - i mean how far is this the sense of a NANDROID backup?

The question is wether the restore pushes the files from pc to the phone or just downloads the apps again from the play store

That wasn't Nandroid. That was Google, and it was just the apps, not the app's data.

Exactly what he said. You must have clicked on Google back up and restore during your log in process.

If you did actually do a backup in TWRP, you should be able to enter recovery then perform an advanced restore of some sort and restore the data partition. I don't use TWRP but I imagine it has similar functionality to CWM so there should be a similar option somewhere.
OK i guess now its doing its nandroid restore (i chose Restore Nandroid Backup with custom recovery in Root Toolkit). All apps show up and none have been downloaded. Im just wondering why its actually taking that long (ten and a half hours and counting)
I canceled the restore now and doing ist right now in TWRP so i guess i shall restore everything except Boot (i´ve flashed a new kernel) and system (i´ve flashed a new rom)
Edit: Now its stuck on booting for like 10 minutes - what shall i do?
For some reason my phone got totally hosed up this evening. Everything was fine and I turned the screen off, I then immediately tried to turn it back on and nothing happened. So I hard rebooted (hold down power) and the phone never went past the boot screen. Tried wiping cache, which got it past the boot screen, then it went through the upgrading apps process, then when that was done it got stuck at "starting apps". It seemed like the System UI would not start. I left it for 5-10 mins and it never booted into my launcher.
So at that point, I decided to do a nandroid backup, then wipe my phone completely, and reinstall AOKP. That got me back into the phone, but my plan was to use the "Extract from Nandroid" feature built into Titanium Backup Pro to restore my apps and data from my nandroid backup. When I tried this, TB saw my nandroid backup, but selecting it brought up an empty apps list. I have successfully used this feature in the past without any issue - though I am not sure if I have used it since Android 4.2 was released.
So, I decided, let me see if I can browse my nandroid manually via Root Explorer. I navigated to the clockworkmod directory on my sdcard, where nandroid backups have usually been kept and it was also empty! So, I launched ROM Manager and sure enough it sees my nandroid there as well. Then I noticed the fine print:
In Android 4.2, backups are placed in secure directory, inaccessible to other apps. Backups can be pulled with ADB or by using ROM Manager Backup Download Server

So, I am currently in the process of using the Download Server to download my backup to my PC. My question is, is there a way to get Titanium to read this zip file I am downloading and extract apps/data out of it like I used to do? Do I just copy the zip back to the /sdcard/clockworkmod directory?
If anyone has already been through this on 4.2 I would appreciate the advice. Thanks! :good:
Hi,
I had a similar problem on my N7 tb wasn't displaying anything from my twrp backups, try appextractor 2 beta from the play store. Worked for me took a few mins to process my back up but then displayed everything perfectly.
Hope this helps
SD.
Same problem... appextractor cannot find anything
This is because nandroids are now saved in a secure file. I'm pretty sure it's /mount/shell/clockworkmod. There's some apps on the play store like cwm backup manager that allow you to make copies to your pc.

I am dealing with the same problem right now...
The reason for your problem is probably that you made your backup with CMW 6 and not 5. Neither Appextractor nor Titanium Backup can currently work with the new backups it seems.
I would greatly appreciate any ideas/solutions!
So basically Titanium is useless with 4.2.2?

Never had a problem with Titanium and 4.2.2 ever.
Hello. Has anyone found a way to do this yet? I found a couple threads that dated a couple months ago with the same question but no answer. So if anyone has figured out a way to backup the apps and data on both a primary and secondary user account please help. Im pretty sure others are interested as well. I really want to try out some different roms but my brother will be really mad if I lose all his data again . Last time i backed the tablet up with wugfreshs toolkit thinking itd back up everything and when i found out it didnt after restoring i was screwed lol. Is there a way to pick what you want to restore with twrp? I know for my phone in cwm you can do an advanced restore and restore just certain things like apps and data. Is that possible for nexus 10?
I have the same problem kind of.
Have not tested but if you make nandroid backup in twrp on at least the data partition you should get all user data in the backup, right?
I however would like to make selected app backup in titanium where i could choose to include data for all or just single user. Not sure if possible.

Yes with tarp it backs up all user data. But like you I also want to backup certain apps with titanium. I hope they add this feature soon because I like changing Roms to see my favorite. I'm about to flash paranoid android and I did a full backup first. If my bro gets mad I'll just restore the backup so he can have his stuff back

Well i tried installing paranoid android. Then booted fine then i restored data via twrp and it wont boot i guess that doesnt work. Any other suggestions fir backing up multi accounts?
Sent from my LG-P970g
If anyone is interested go into super su and enable multiusers so now you have root on all accounts then just back up apps on each account with titanium backup and move then to pc (just in case) then you can flash any rom you want and restore the apps. Hurray . Its not as smooth as id like becaise wiping data wipes new accounts so you have to readd them but just back up all pics to google plus and anything else to cpu. Your apps and data from titanium backup will be backed up and now you have everything saved. So if anyone needs this it works. Took me a while to finally figure out a way with lots of nandroid restoring but now i.got it
Time to flash some roms till i find a favorite
As u can see im very happy

I am trying to do the same as you! The way you described doing it, I think you are just using Titanium backup app and not nandroid backups in the end, is that right? So you used Titanium backup all your apps and their data (but not photos/other documents/files on your tablet), and then you flashed your new custom ROM and used Titanium again to restore all apps/data in each user account separately? Sounds straightforward if I have this right! I have not done this before, so want to understand it before I do!! Thanks for your help... :good:

It's kind of annoying but it works. You have to back up the apps in each account then move it to a computer then back up the next account and move it to computer then back up the next etc... You have to do this because it erases the secondary accounts when flashing a new ROM so you lose all the backups you made. So putting it on a CPU then moving it back after the flash will make sure you have them

OK, thanks, sounds like I had described the right technique... will give it a try!
I broke my phones screen, I have the best buy replacement plan, its also rooted, what's the easiest way to dump my phone and restore it to the new one?
I backed up with twrp, does it work to just restore data on the new phone?

As long as it's the same phone you are getting and same recovery too. I've done it before on the s3.
If that doesn't work you could use a app like titanium backup or rom toolbox to back up your apps then restore them on the new phone.

I actually think I tried it and it ended up having numerous force closes and crap like that. I think I'll try titanium.
I've got my internal storage backed up to the SD card, a titanium backup, and a twrp backup. I'll probably just use titanium.
A little background:
I followed Heisenberg's How to Guide for Beginners to back up my stock firmware, root my phone, and install the Screw'd ROM.
I did all of the backups he advised in that thread, and did an additional one with absolutely everything, for good measure.
I used the Nano Gapps as I don't care for most of the Google Apps, however, I would like to have Google Camera, but I don't want to go through wiping my phone and starting over.
In Titanium Backup, I chose "Extract from Nandroid back up" and picked the back up file.
So far I've restored com.google.android.GoogleCamera, but the stock camera app doesn't seem to be there.
Can anyone shed some light on my situation?

Did you reboot after the restore? Typically those are system apps and may need a reboot for the app to refresh and show up.
