hi - for all you nook HD+ users running the fantastic cyanogenmod 10.2:
kindle nook app can work if you make the following changes to 'build.prop':
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=16m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=192m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=512m
dalvik.vm.heapminfree=512k
see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389813&page=55
this is not meant to create another thread about his - but i can't post to the dev forum, and i can confirm that it works.

Fixed in today's SD card build, runs great on my HD+, no need to mess with build.prop. Awesome.
verygreen posted that the problem is with the kindle app.

This fix should migrate to emmc nightlies in a day or two.

Quite a while. It won't happen until they get the 3.0 kernel done. You can follow the development here, but don't ask them for an estimated completion date:

Hello, I've been trying to run cm9 off an SD card. The problem is I can get the first part to start "the cyanoboot screen" then when it goes to fire up cm9, it goes to a black screen. Am I losing my mind? Thanks

Which method did you follow for installing CM9?
Is it new or upgrade from other rom?
Produced by NookColor at ICS 4.0.4
Not sure, its one of eyeballers nightlies. And I'm guessing I'm not putting the correct cm9 program on my card, are their different mods for your hard drive then their are for the bootable sd card? Now my problem is that when I put my sd card with cm7 back in, the nook had to reload its stock rom I guess cause when I turned it back on it said something like it was reloadIng original image. Then I had to register it again. What's freaking me out is that now when I run My cm7 sd card, its running choppy, things are force closing in every direction, when before it ran perfectly. Have I somehow shot myself in the foot or is there some way to fix this? Thankyou for your help

Did you use an open GL cm9? I'd almost bet you did. Follow the instructions given by dizzy and leap and it should get you going. I tried updating from cm7.2 to cm9 open GL (I think June 11th) and mine blew up pretty bad. Not even a restore from a back up helped.
CM9 on SDcard install
I've been running CM9 for a couple months now. I installed a fresh image on a Sandisk 16Gb class 4 card using Samiam303's variation on Verygreen's procedure and update occasionally using CM9 nightlies from http://techerrata.com/browse/nightly_kangs/encore (see [ROM][NC] Unofficial CM9 Nightly builds - with/without OpenGL). It's been pretty stable, a bit slow at times, but mostly works with the notable exception of Netflix and USB/UMS.
I did run into one other glitch when going from the 6/13 to the 6/20 nightly OpenGL update. MTP stopped working. I tried several different driver configs on my XP machine without success. Going back to the 6/13 nightly brought it back and that's where I am now. LeapinLar solved the problem for ADB by modifying the .inf file which might give a clue to how to get MTP working, but that's stretching my capability. This and many other useful tips are in his post [USER][TIPS]CM7/CM9 User Tips From LeapinLar.

Netflix does not work for anyone. But UMS and MTP should work. For MTP, but sure USB debugging is off in development settings. For UMS, it needs to be checked in settings and when you plug the cable into the PC, a dialog should pop up saying to turn on USB Storage. Be sure to select that.

I was under the impression we were never to expect HW acceleration to work? Has this changed?
I have a nook 8gig and rooted with instructions from cyanogenmod.com and worked perfectly. My question is should i follow those instructions for this 16gig or are there another set of instructions to follow . Ive looked here and have found that in some threads it says i can follow them for the 16gig and when reading the comments i find that it will not work on the 16gig. Hope this made sense to you. Thanks for the help in advance.
There is no 16 gb nook color.
What you have there is a nook tablet. You are in the wrong forum. We don't have those fancy tablets here, just Nook Color e-readers.
there are forums for nook tablets and nooktablet hd (+) on xda.They can probably answer you.
good luck
Well ill take my fancy tablet and go hunting for that rascally rabbit on the right forum. Thank you
After checking I do have a nook color 16gig. My other nook is an 8gig. So do I follow the same steps for the 16gig? It is not the HD or HD plus.

There is no 16 gb Nook Color. That is a Nook tablet. The roms do not interchange. Go over to the Nook Tablet thread.
Thhe 8gb could be a NookColor or a tablet. You need to know for certain before flashing. Many problems can result.

If the model number on the back of the 8/16gb is BNTV250 it is a Nook Tablet. Go over to the Nook Tablet forum for help rooting it.
The nook color model number is BNRV200. ROMs in this forum are for BNRV200 only.

About a year ago, I successfully installed custom nookie froyo 2.2.1 on my nook internal sd following a youtube video (created a bootable micro sd, etc.) I actually surprised myself that it worked out since I’m no tech wizard!
Although everything is working fine, I now want to upgrade to CM 7 since I feel it’s now a bit laggy.
My question is:
Do I have to repeat the whole process (bootable SD, etc.) or is there a shortcut I can take ? If so, can you link me to a walkthrough? If not, can you also link me to a recent good walkthrough so I can repeat the process?
Thanks for the input!
Greetings from Vienna

Hi I'm hoping someone here can help me with this issue. I've looked around and haven't really found a solution. I'm new to rooting. I have a nook color on 1.4.3 that I decided to root. I read up and followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494901
But each time I get a looping nook color devs animation that will just repeat and repeat. I have restored multiple times and tried again but haven't been successful. I haven't had any access to root features. I flashed with manualnooter-5.08.20.apps2sd.block_updates.zip and Dalingrin OC kernel.

I would but it won't let me because I'm a new member with fewer than 10 posts. So I made a topic.
How soon can we expect to get "L" ? Will it be CM12?
I wonder what the cute name is, how about Lemon drop?
I can guarantee you it will be no earlier than when ever cm12(or what ever the cyanogenmod team calls it) comes out.
But also, dont forget that the nook color is a 4 year old device, pretty old by tablet and android standards. Im still surprised that they got cm 11 working okay-ish on it(kudos to the development team, amazingly you are still keeping this old tablet alive). And also dont forget that android L completely ditched the dalvik runtime, leaving only the ART runtime for all devices. The last time I checked the development page for the nook, didnt they have issues with ART, something ram related maybe? They are working with a single core 512 Mb s of ram tablet, even cheap tablets nowadays come with a dual core cpu, and at the minimum 512 Mb(most likely 1 Gb at this point) of ram. The nook may be able to run android L, but it could possibly get too laggy for any real use, unless if the development team can get it stable again at higher cpu speeds.

Are you saying that support for NC is about to end? I had hoped that L would be
tuned for small memory devices like by beloved NC.
What is the best version of CM for the NC? I mostly use it for G news and G mail.

I gave the MiRaGe image a try but it hangs after a reboot.
I'm currenty at CM11, do I need to downgrade my CWM too?
Or maybe I need to do a full wipe and then try? Pretty annoying... hrumph.

If you have CWM v6045 or newer you must downgrade to an older version to install a CM zip older than CM11. V6045 or newer only works for CM11.

Yes, you can run mirage from SD or you can also make an older CWM on SD to install the mirage to emmc without touching the internal newer CWM if you desire. Mirage runs fine if installed internally with the older CWM on SD. That way it is there if you want to return to CM11.
