Display problem when charging - Oppo Find 5

Hi i have the latest cm-10.1-20130901-NIGHTLY-find5.zip and I have problems when charging while powered off: The display stays on while charging and the telephone overheats. Are there any fixes?

Have you seen if this is a problem with other users? I'm using PAC ROM and have the same result with the screen being lit to a black screen when powered off and charging. I'm checking now to see if it overheats. It may be(and probably is) the screen on and charging at the same time that is causing it to heat up like that. My suggestion is to not charge while powered off if you can help it. A little warm is ok, but these quad-core phones can cook when that CPU is going.. I've felt mine to the point of needing to power it off with usage in the sun making it unbearably hot. And if it's getting HOT HOT.. than yeah.
3 things you can do.
1.Charge with phone powered on.
2.Go back to stock ROM where this was not an issue.
3.Work with the devs to try and figure out what is causing it. Be prepared to provide a logcat if the problem can't be reproduced on their end.
My phone has been charging off for about 10 minutes now and it still feels a little cool to the touch. Battery is 100% full. Not sure if that makes a difference. I'll keep in on charge for another 10. I'll update this post in a little bit.
**UPDATE** Its been on the charger for 30 minutes.. no heat increase. Note* I'm running PAC ROM AOSP ROM.

Batteries always get hot if you use them while they are charging. This is slightly harmful to the battery too, but if it only happens once or twice I wouldnt worry about it.
All AOSP roms on this device so far are afflicted by this problem. Just turn your phone on first and as soon as you see the boot logo you can plug it in. You'll get used to it.

maxwen, does cm10.2 for find5 have deadlocks like nexus 4 does?
I am waiting for the deadlocks to stop before I upgrade.

i have experienced a few time of battery run out, the n7 have like an error runny where like crazy and then the screen went off, and when turn on right after that with the charger in, it will be on for like 2mins, and then the screen running like crazy again
just want to know is it a common thing? cuz i had 2 n7 and it have the same problem
Could you explain in detail what you mean by saying "the screen is running like crazy" or maybe post a photo?

When you say the screen went crazy I'm guessing you mean filled with static and wavy lines. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
If that's what you're experiencing, I had the exact same issue, but it occurred when I drained the battery to 0% while it was plugged in to my computer. Apparently, the USB ports on most computers don't provide enough juice to keep the N7 alive while using it. I just long-pressed the power button (for around 30 seconds) after it had charged for a bit and the N7 booted right up.
I solved the problem by charging the N7 from a wall socket (and not from a USB port on a computer) when I want to use it while it's charging.

Yes, that what I experience, yeah'wall socket helps but if u run something right after it just boot up, than the lines will dance again^^

If you kill the battery that far dead you need to let it charge 20 or 30 minutes if you're having issues like that.
I understand whats happening now.
OP, if you're going to use the computer and you completely drain it like that, let it charge a bit before you power it back up. Its apparently a habit, and I just don't think its a good thing to kill it dead, connect it to a power source and then immediately kill it again by drawing way more power than we have.

[Q] Screen Turns On Randomly Without Touching Phone

When I leave the Nexus 4 on a flat surface with nothing around it, it will randomly turn the screen on, wait the 30 second timer, then turn back off.
I did just install 4.2.2, but I hadn't used it enough before to say if it only started since then.
I'm currently unrooted, though unlocked the bootloader when I first got it so I do plan to root soon, would flashing a custom kernel like franco kernel possibly fix this? Or would this be a problem in the rom or a third party app?
In BetterBatteryStats I saw 2 Kernel Wakelocks that seemed to have a high ammount of wakes.
(Screenshots Attached)
And here's the BetterBatteryStats Dump File: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dbc2vn3littc0fp/BetterBatteryStats-2013-02-21_054751350.txt
Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks.
Possibly a third party app.

Err I meant like, it keeps turning the screen on and off - like if the charger is disconnecting itself.

Sounds almost like the charger has a short or something.

It does that with all sorts of different cables and chargers. Think I might have a loose USB port?
Maybe it's linked to the Daydream feature?

Not sure, guess it's possible, but even if it is lose I wouldn't expect it to effect it once it starts unless it gets bumped.
Also, what is the temp of the battery when charging? Not sure if it's true but I've heard that if the battery is over 40c it won't charge properly.
If you want, here's a really nice widget with temp on it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.bmw
I would just be careful with anything to void your warranty until you figure out whats causing the problem, as I've heard a lot of stories about bad batteries, and shorts in usb causing the red light bug (For lack of a better name).

Thanks for the link. I actually looked through the 'must have apps for the N4' thread under themes and apps, and Goku80 had posted a link to a battery meter that I just downloaded and installed moments ago. I have yet to see what the charge temp is, but I will report back tonight. Idle temp is around 25*c from what I've noticed just now.
The only thing I've noticed with temps so far is when I have my phone pulled in and I'm watching something on the phone. The phone gets really hot, and the system starts to lag badly. I would assume this is a fail-safe for the battery to not overheat by downclocking itself, but this is only a theory.
As for the red light bug, I saw my phone drop from 28% to 4% instantly out of nowhere yesterday, with no warnings. I immediately pulled the phone in, and watched the battery meter jump to 30%. According to the red light threads, I think it's a software issue with the phone shutting down completely when it thinks it's out of battery to prevent damage. Hopefully we'll never run into that issue ourselves.

Phone shuts off and freezes

2 days ago my phone (for the first time) just shut off and wouldn't turn back on even if I held the power button. It turned back on after plugging it into an outlet and holding the power button. The same thing happened today.
I'm using the stock battery (I just bought the Anker battery because I figure it's the battery causing issues) and I'm on Scott's CleanROM. I've had the phone since July (brand new) and haven't had any problems since.
How long have you been on this rom/release version? Got a new kernel or try any new kernel settings? Maybe try using the new battery for a few days to see if that's the problem?

+1. Sound kernel related. Did you mess with any voltage settings?

AT&T - S4 - CleanROM 1.5 is the exact ROM I've had since I installed it. I'm not too sure what "kernal" means so I didn't change any voltage settings or anything like that.

OP, test that secondary battery out and see if that's your problem. keep us posted.
Br4nd3n, your device configuration is almost identical to mine. cheers.
Great setup isn't it? Cheers!

I had a problem like this too, running a different ROM, CM 10.1, a nightly - I removed my battery and fully charged it in a stand-alone charger and returned it to my device and haven't had an issue since.

I think I just got unlucky with a defective OEM battery. The new battery comes in tomorrow so I'll stick it in there and let you guys know what happens.
Ironically, my phone has this issue when the battery discharges to around ~40%. It's fully charged right now so I want to test that theory as well.

Well whatever works for ya. I'd hate to be that one case of a bad battery. Let us know.
So that didn't fix anything since I got the same issue again today with the Anker battery. I have a feeling it's the "hover your hand over the phone" gesture since this happens when the phone is in my pocket pressing against my wallet.

CM and AOSP don't remain off while charging

Has any body noticed that every single AOSP ROM will not allow the phone to stay off while charging? There are so many ROMs that are amazing and perform so greatly yet they all will not allow me to charge my phone while it's off... I can be anal at times and when it comes to my phone charging it needs to he charging turned off and all these ROMs with the exception of Vanir and Commotio will not charge while powered down....as soon as I plug them in sure enough the phone powers up, so I tried plugging the phone in before powering down and all it does is power the phone back up. Does anyone know the cause of this? Is there a work around? And what is the Vanir team doing different that their roms do not suffer this issue?
It would be awesome if team Vanir would share with the other devs what they're doing do I could enjoy trying another ROM lolol, just messing, sorta ?

care to share mate the advantage of charging while off?
It may be placebo but I've always seemed to have gotten more battery life also and this could certainly be wrong but I believe it helps prevent battery erosion which in turn makes the batteries life span longer
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Either way I prefer my phone to be off while charging cause it remains cooler which now that I think of it may also help TNT battery's life span..... None of what I say matters it's really more of a preference

Sometimes I turn my phone off when I go to bed to charge just so I can try and get some sleep. lol Also sometimes if my battery is low I turn the phone off when I take shower and it charges faster.

My phone won't do anything. The screen doesn't show anything i cant feel vibrations.

my phone wont do anything. i plugged it in a wireless charger and it shows as charging but nothing is happening. it doesnt turn on or do anything.
the last thing i did on it was flash android 12 rom, and it kept shutting down due to heating up. after that i flashed back to a one ui rom where it was fine, then it shut down and now this.
please help.

I mean, the battery was fine. It just used to overheat without me doing anything and it'd shutdown.

Might have fried something on the mobo like the SOC. Forced thermal shutdowns aren't good.
