Looks like your Rom is messed up. Make a Backup of your contacts and flash the stock rom.
Then your phone should normally run again.

Hi,
I recently purchased a second hand MDA compact that was locked to T-mobile. After using the "all in one simlock tool" (from this site) I tried my vodafone sim card and it stated "invalid or missing sim". After various soft resets and hard resets and re-running the tool it would still not recognise my vodafone sim.
I then tried a friends contract t-mobile sim card in my phone to make sure all was well and it asked for the pin number. My friend entered his pin and it came up "Phone locked please enter PUK code". My friend then put his sim card back in his phone and enetered his pin as normal and all was working fine ? I have tried this several time with t-mobile sims and the same happens to them all but when put back in their normal phones everything works as normal.
I have even called t-mobile for help (no laughing please) and as you guessed I got no further forward.
Appologies if this is a widely covered topic or in the wrong section, i have searched and read loads of stuff but I am still stuck.
Please help me to unlock phone...
anyone :?
try this
Try this:
With the phone off, press the camera button and hold it in
Now press the power button for 5-10 seconds
Let go the power button
If the screen comes up with 3 color bars, connect the phone to your computer and run your favorite firmware.
Let us know the results...
Newbie question... Firmware compared to ROM?
Hi all,
I would be very interested in knowing the result of this last advice you gave as i am fighting to unlock my SPV3000 from Orange and may end up locking it with PUK request at the end...
Anyway, my question before I reach this stage is: What are you really talking about when you say "Run firmware"?
Do you mean flash your PPC again with a ROM like Mr Clean one or is it something else? And where should we find such firmware?
Just in case I may have to follow your advice soon... ;-)
ive accidently locked my phone when i messed up with the pin code
not a single phone lock, its the lock that you see when you open Settings -> Phone, and you make "v" this square over there.
what do i do to unlock it?
please help me!
thanks in advance.
Very Easy
Call your provider and they will show you how to unlock it......I did this too a long time ago....as soon as you get through it should only take a few minutes...I promise....just tell them that you accidently locked your sim card and they will know what to do>>>.
Peace
Mike
I just purchased HTC Cingular 8525 and was told that it was unlocked. Well it is unlocked to the sim card that it arrived to me with, but when I put my sim card (from different carrier) in it, it asked for the pass code. Being an idiot to all of this, I started trying to put the number in that would unlock my old phone.
After a lot of searching, I found that I only have so many tries to unlock and then it is bricked. Okay, my screen says "you have tried 5 times, please wait until timeout". Does that mean that I have bricked it? I paid for someone to give me the code but the screen still says the above. There is a box for entering the code and the curser is flashing and it will allow me to input the number, but when I press enter nothing changes.
Is it bricked or just still locked? What can I do to fix this? Please help an idiot before I pull any more of my hair out on this.
Thanks,
Dona
Not bricked at all. Just locked, you will need the PUK code to unlock it probably.
Contact your carrier (Orange, O2 etc) and ask them for your PUK code

You will have to call your carrier. Be carefull because if you enter the wrong code to many times, you'll fry the sim card. So, if you cant get the puk code from the carrier, you'll have to replace the sim.
Just so ya know, the PUK code is relative to the sim card security. It just means what it's been asking for is YOUR pin code that you would at some time have applied to your sim card to secure it from prying eyes. Any phone you put your sim card in should ask for it each time the phone is turned on.
The other code that is a possibility here is if the previous owner of the HTC entered a security code to prevent other sim cards being used in their phone. It may be worth contacting the person you got the phone off and asking them for the PHONE security code they would have set.
I must say that it seems unusual for a second hand phone to be sold with an old sim still in it. The sim card is the previous owners personal account so any info left on it might also be available for you to access. I'd certainly not sell a phone without making sure the old personal data had been removed (including the sim, even if it was no longer activated).
my 8525 needed an eight digit number my code number was four digits So four 0's in front of it did the trick
Mi hermes show NO GSM helme
if update from original ROM and brick in 11%
if update radio brick in 0%
Help me please...
I just got a tmobile galaxy tab and when I insert the sim card in the slot, nothing happens. I heard it is supposed to reboot and then I will have a signal but right now it doesn't reboot and doesn't show signal.
I tried powering off and on but I still get just a circle with a line across on the top bar instead of a signal.
Is there something wrong with my sim slot?
hi
check if you inserted the sim card the correct way.
on my tab the mini symbol on the sim card slot doesnt equal the way the sim card should be inserted.
check the manual for correct instructions
edit:
i had the same problem at first.
inserted sim, nothing happend, turned it around nothing happend, looked in the manual, inserted it like pictured, and the tab rebootet and it works.
i dont remember how it should be inserted, and i cant look right now. sorry.
(excuse my bad english)
Same here. It lets you think you have put it in the correct way but if nothing is happening, chances are you have not got it in right. Flip it 180 degrees and push it in with you finger nail. The tab will detect it.
I did research to see how to insert and I have inserted it correctly (numbers and logo on top, gold contact on the bottom)
but nothing happens, it doesn't reboot, it doesn't show signal. The "mobile networks" in the Settings menu is greyed out.
I am going crazy here. What am I doing wrong?

did you inserted it with the "bigger" or "smaller"(the one where the corner is cut) side first? ( sorry but i dont know how to describe it ;-)
i checked mine, you got to insert it whith the chip facing down, and the "smaller"(cutted) side first.
hope it helps!
yes I did that. I inserted with the cut piece first and gold contacts on bottom. It is the only way to insert it and fully go inside.
I have Verizon so I don't have a sim card but I want to get past the "No SIM card. Emergency calls only" screen so I can play with the phone before I sell it.
I tried touching the four corners, I tried typing stuff on the emergency dialer..any ideas how to get into the operating system?

Actually if anyone has a clue how to do this it would be much appreciated! I just got one but my AT&T dealer line isn't active yet so I don't have a sim card that is provisioned yet, and Motoblur keeps giving me a "Motoblur is Busy" error message so I can't even access my old motoblur account or make a new one >.< Please if anyone has any idea whats wrong help us out!
Supposedly, you can't make this phone get past emergency dialing without a SIM card, and then all it will do is require MotoBlur signup before it goes any further.
Supposedly.
But there are boot options, if you boot the power while holding the VOL- key. Explore at your own risk, one of those might hose the phone. Supposedly, at least one can do a complete factory reset.
Just sign into your motoblur account and it'll let you use the phone. Connect to wifi if you have it to get pass the motoblur screen. Press menu and some options will pop up including wifi settings.
Hope that helps.

You can't even get to the MotoBlur sign in part, you're stuck at the screen saying no sim card.
I got my atrix on release day but am waiting for my employee line to become active so I currently have bi connection. What you need to do is take any sim card from a friend or an old one. Put it in the phone. Connect to wifi and do the blur log in/sign up. Then you are good. It'll only work on wifi till you get it on whatever carrier you're planning on using. But it's better than nothing.
My suggestion would be to get a friend who is on att to go into a store and say his sim was lost and they'll give him a new one and deactivate the old one. Use that old one till you have service of your own.
Good luck

Figured out a solution
I figured out how to get past the SIM card requirement by playing with the boot options. The phone still requires you to register for a MotoBlur account, but I can live with that.
1. Load Boot menu by holding the Volume Down button while starting the phone.
2. Press the Volume Down button until the option "Boot Android (NO BP)" appears at the top of the screen.
3. Press the Volume Up button to select this option.
4. On load, the phone will bypass the No SIM card screen, but will ask you to register a MotoBlur account. You will have to connect to Wifi and either create a new account or sign in to one that already exists.
Luckily, this process only needs to be performed once. It looks like the phone remembers this boot option for next time
