if only we can...
Needs elevated permission to access the registry, most likely. Might be possible just with file system access, but registry would be best.
The original way of doing this was a registry hack. I think that the ringtone to sms app basically updated this.
There is a 'lumia registry' tool on here somewhere (search may help) but I don't think that the ringtones section was one that could be updated

Destroying the registry so a given functionality dies, is not the same as enabling/disabling. I doubt these programs have simple on/off switches in the registry, so instead I suggest you reinstall them.
Set a browser such as the Resco Explorer to show files in ROM, then locate and execute the file loadvdisk.exe in the Windows folder. This will give you access to the Extended_ROM folder, located in root. From there you can reinstall what you want. Names of the files you will need are selfexplanatory, the rest you can find a description on here on forum, by using the search function.
Hi Guys,
There are quite a few Registry hacks listed on this site, could someone develop a simple program that could read xml files in a directory and present them in an orderly manner, like HTweakC does...
Package the registry tweaks into a simple xml file that the program could read.
For example:
Menu Structure, ie Security, Today, Bluetooth
Title,
Description,
Registry Tweak.
On Program startup the program could read the xml files in a specified folder and order the tweaks according to the Menu Structure in the xml file.
And while you're at it an undo option wouldnt go amiss either.
Each change could be saved to an undo folder... or something.
Hi,
I have just been on the following thread:
http://www.satter.org/2007/03/lets_shell_some.html
And want to know if anyone can assist me in this forum with the production of a working file for the thread.
I created a CPF file and dropped it into the Herald and executed it. I received an System Notification entry in my Text messaging folder stating 'your device settings cannot be changed by Test.cpf'
Does anyone know whether this is because I do not have the OTA Enterprise prvileges or is ot just that I screwed up in the execution of the file or contents?
I thought in the file it suggests I only need manager access to execute these entries.
All comments are appreciated - I am not a hardcore developer so I have posted this with some trepidation but I need a little help here to get the example working.
Kind Regards,
PianoSam.
make an application unlock
Erofich,
Many thanks for your reply but I wonder if you can explain a little further...
Is it possible to execute changes to the registry with a file like this or do I need to do some programming?
Sorry for my being so ignorant...
PianoSam.
I modify original Kaiser Tweak utility from Jorrit Jongma (original is in http://www.jongma.org/KaiserTweak/ ) and add some new registry tweaks posted to tweak forum for artemis. This is great tool for simply adding any registry tweak by any junior user. All, what is need is modify KaiserTweak.xml file in directory. When anybody know any great tweak, what is most usage, post it here or modify xml file.
This program no need any instalation. Simply unpack to any directory to your device and run. All changes are save to registry directly. For take effect is need restart device.
Warning, not all option is for all artemis model and any use is on your risk.
I've used this gadget and set most of the fields to either default or recommended (because making untested changes to your registry is silly, no?) and now the touch screen doesn't respond. At all. So I cannot undo the changes made in the programme. Bu**er.
I didn't make a back-up of the unaltered reg file (as I am clearly an idiot), please advise. Am I going to have to flash my first ROM?
Well if there is an option to undo changes, then why not just use your buttons and track ball? I assume they work OK still?
Where do i go to add Notifications tones on HD2-WP7
PLZ help
Im trying to edit the registry to enable custom sms tones etc. right now... I think this is the only way to do it currently.
Using the registry editor I found HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\LocalizedNameMap
this is where all the alerts and alarms are set up. However the reg edit doesnt allow to change value name which points to the file name...
Got to http://touchxperience.com/ and there is a few tools you can download, but i use there advanced config tool. Have a look and see.
I read somewhere that you could sync files to the device using Zune and then move them using touchxplorer. I believe that you have to rename wma files and then overwrite the existing notification sounds in windows directory.
