Have you tried charging it for a couple hours? Try going into the stock recovery and do a factory reset from there.
Uhm, try extensively charging it, eg. overnight, and than try to power it on again.
Make sure your phone is completely off, by booting into the bootloader and choosing Power Off.
Than connect the charger and the cahrging sign should pop up.
yes, i already do the factory reset from recovery menu ..
and I already charge it like 6 hours, but still the device keep turn it off ...
is that possible a hardware failure?
:crying:
Worst case scenario you just have to call Google and return it.

If flashing factory images and charging it for a decent amount of time hasn't fixed it, it does sound like a hardware issue. I would RMA if you just got the phone.

Sorry about posting the thread here as I couldn't post it where it needed to go. I have had this GT 10.1 for a few days love what it can do but It continuously wants to go to sleep and not wake up. This is a locked rooted 32gb version.
I have noticed while it is in the dock it tends to only lock up on the home screen and it solved by just removing it from the dock and inserting it again into the dock. When its not in the dock it does the Sleep of death and If i plug it back into the dock while is SoD it will come back to life. I don't have any idea if this helps with your deductions on dealing with this bug. But I thought It could help somehow.
I didnt plug the dock into any power source either.
Well I tried doing the above now its boot looping DARN I REALLY like this thing
after the 3 or 4th SoD the OS got garbled and I had to do a factory reset and reload the OS using ODIN and back to Stock.
Gonna remove the OC kernal witch I had loaded and reload the STOCK OS until its fixed.
I have this problem, my tab 7 days old is dead... I was using it, turn it off connect it to charge it and it is not working now..
Is there any fix or way to get out of the sleep of death?
the asus transformer forum says it's fixed with 3.1 (mostly).
i guess it's the reason why the EU release is delayed permanently.
guys i dont thing there anything wrong with the tablet. i believe its the wall charger.ur usb on ur pc or laptot is not ready to charge ur tablet but it will at a slow rate, really slow.i tired charging it with the wall outlet n it would not do anything. called samsung thay wanted me to send it in for service.i said no.i have it charging with my laptop.that work for me.give it time to charge and u'll see it charging.the cable is good its the big box that plugs in to the wall thats bad.

Mine wouldn't turn on for the life of me yesterday...exchanged for a brand new unit at best buy....wtf!
Mine does the "Sleep of death" only with custom firmwares and when charging on the media dock...going back to stock fixes the issue...to wake up the tablet I had to make a combination of Power + Volume Down for several seconds until it finally turns on...
Mine was stock. No combination of button presses worked for me
Same with mine. I just shipped it back for repair...

You just need to hold down the power button for 15 seconds, or so. Maybe 30. I've had this issue a few times in the few months I've had this. My bigger problem is the Wake of Death. The stupid thing turns itself on for no reason, and never goes back to sleep, so the battery is almost dead when I go to use it. This happens a few times a week. Drives me crazy.

Hi All,
I've gone over the forum and tried consulting some of the threads with no luck.
Two days ago I left me Nexus on and it run out of battery (I think, since its no longer start).
This led me to do the following:
1. I've tried connecting it to the charger - which made no difference.
- I've tried different outlets and two different cables that I had (the original and one that belongs to an HP touchpad).
2. When it didn't work I've tried connecting it to the PC - The USB wasn't recognized in any of the hubs.
- I've tried using 'Nexus 7 toolkit' and 'Nexus root toolkit' to install drivers and it didn't help, the device appears as 'Unknown Device'
with Error 43.
3. I've tried 'long press' on the start button for 30 seconds (and more) several times with no luck.
4. Then I've tried pressing on all 3 bottoms in two different scenarios:
- in my hand: nothing happened.
- connected to the PC: the computer tried to installed something called APX and failed.
then I tried to re-install it with drivers located in the 'Nexus root toolkit' and it installed it as 'Asus Transformer Prime APX Mobile'
and I don't know what to do with it.
5. I've tried recharging it for 10 hours! and the charger isn't even hot.
Since is a combinations of several threads that didn't help I've thought that I'll create a new post.
Can someone please help?
I'm stuck and run out of solutions.
Thanks
You actually are bricked.. Some how you got yourself into app mode which basically means your tablets a brick until there's a way to fix it but there currently isn't for the nexus 7, you could try sending it back to Google but Idkk if they'd replace it for you

What about OP's charged not even heating up? Even an APXed device charges, AFAIK.
why don't you think they replace it?
xfrancis14 & Awesoham Thanks for the reply.
xfrancis14, why don't you think that they'll replace it?
The device is still under warranty (bought it two months ago).
Awesoham, in both states the charger is not heating up. I don't know - maybe the charger is damaged.
I'll try connecting it to the computer, maybe it will charge it (as much as it takes).

I am having the same issue
I bought my nexus 7 back in July and I haven't had any issues with it until this morning. I was using it with about 16% battery left and all of a sudden it just shut off. So I put it on the charger for about 2 hours and tried to power it on. I have to hold the power button down for 20 seconds or so and after it gets to my home screen it will stay on for about 5 seconds before the screen goes crazy and shuts off. All of this done while plugged in to power.
Any ideas before I call Google?
This better not be a bad experience...

maybe you'll be able to charge it from there? (that what I've seen suggested in other threads).
If you call Google, can you please update me about there solution? or if they replaced your device?
Thanks.

Well if you rooted or unlocked it, your issue is a software issue and they most likely replace a software defective nexus 7 if it's rooted or unlocked

Use something to pry open the back and remove the battery. Pop it out and in, let it charge and then try. good luck!
I haven't got around to root or unlock the device, so this is not going to be a problem.
The problem is that I leave in Israel and bought the device in the U.S, so it quite a problem
sending it to google.
This is why I was looking for another way to solve the problem.

Assuming you don't break anything. The cover isn't meant to be removable, but it is certainly easy to do. Just be mindful of the NFC Chip inside the plastic backing.
I've took the cover off (with the help of this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC2aGLseN64)
disconnected the battery plug and reconnected it.
I'm trying to charge it now (although it doesn't seem to be doing anything).
I'll update in a few hours.

Man what a bummer.
Maybe you could try to RMA it at Asus in Israel?
Have you checked their website?
I can give it a try.
I'll check the website now.
I tracked another solution: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Do you think that this might help?
I didn't change the firmware, but maybe it will be able to connect to the device in fastboot?

Another question [APX]
I mentioned that I was able to put the device in APX mode by pressing all 3 buttons while the device is connected to the computer.
I gave it drivers I've found in 'Nexus root toolkit' and it was installed in the device manager as 'Asus Transformer Prime Mobile'.
I've found this article in the site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Nvflash
According to it, I'll be able to fix any brick situation. Any one knows how?
do you have a HowTo guide, or something more concrete?
Thanks

Hi there.
I own my stock Galaxy S4 i9505 for 2 months now, and since a week or 2 it started to act strange.
The phone turned always around 20% battery off, and started to freeze sometimes in normal use.
I did today a factory reset, since then it turns off around 63% battery.
Ill try to charge it for 100% and let it charge for some more hours, and do another factory reset then, but i doubt its a battery calibration problem.
Do you guys have any tip that could help me, or should i just return it to seller?
Thanks in advance!
Don't know if this will work but factory reset the phone then use until battery dies then charge whilst off untill 100% may be battery calibration issue.
Let me know how u get on mate

It's definitely not a calibration issue as that has no correlation to battery life. Thee OP is facing a hardware issue- either a defective battery or PMIC.

similar problem
I'm facing similar problems. sometimes it last for a day and dies at 10% but sometimes it dies after a few hours with still 30 to 40 % battery left. After the phone switches off automaticaly i'm not able to restart unless i plug him in.
I tried a lot of things like flashing custom roms, factory reset, flash stock rom with odin with factory reset afterwards.
All with no luck.
It all started after flashing I9505XXUBMGA-PRE-ROOTED
Currently i'm on an older version suited for my region but the problem is still there.
I'm considering to buy a new battery. Can anybode help me please?
You are not alone. Many people report that problem with the original battery.Have a look at your battery if it is/gets fatter.
Buy a new one or go to the shop where you bought the phone, maybe they give you a new one.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could help with the problems I'm having.
Here's the rundown. Rooted my phone and installed a google edition rom almost immediately after buying. Unfortunately, though, as time went by I'd get frequent reboots with any GE rom I tried so I decided to go back to a custom TW rom. But I'm now getting another problem which is really odd. Basically, on a fresh factory reset 100% charge the phone starts up fine and works impeccably for the whole day until the battery goes down to 20-30%. At this point it either shuts off or gets stuck on the black screen with the white Samsung logo. It will reboot but as soon as it finishes loading up it either reboots again by itself or gets stuck on the Samsung screen. I've even tried the stock 4.3 rom and it does the same thing.
Any ideas as to what it might be? Any solutions?
Thanks
You have a faulty battery. Check serial number,if it starts with BD this is a recognised faulty batch.
If you plug your phone into charge it should boot up fine yes?

More odd behavior
...Taking out the battery and putting it back in stops the bootloops and allows it to start up normally again till the next charge. Any ideas because I'm not sure it's the battery? The battery lasted nearly 2 days on a full charge yesterday and went down normally this time to 0% before turning off
Hi, i sold my Nexus 4 to my friend, but time latter he said to me that it doesn't start, it's like a Boot loop, i tried to do a factory reset, flash roms, flash factory imagen and using Nexus toolkit but nothing... (And when i Boot it charging, it give to me the red light, when i had it, it gave to me when it was booting but charging)

Yea, but What about the Hard Brick
Sent from my Oneplus Two using XDA Developers-Movil App
If the phone turns on, I don't consider that a hard brick.
The phone may not be booting properly because it needs a new battery and it needs to be reflashed.
If the phone doesn't start at all or starts doing the boot animation and then suddenly shuts down that's most definitely a battery issue, had one myself. The reason for this is that the nexus 4 can't operate by charge from the microUSB port alone and the broken battery can't give it enough juice to get it to run. What you need to do is replace the battery and then it should all be good, no reflashing or anything should be required.
