I'm using Razr M but the battery drain so fast even though I use it just casually.. Indicated that "wakelock" contribute up to 15 percent and Android System also a lot. The screenshot is above as you can see my phone was just 19 minute on screen. >"<.. No idea why.. Much more info is needed, to test if your phone has a problem remove all installed apps, charge to 100% and then check your batt stats. More likely than not something you installed is causing this.

Something is definitely wrong there. Wake lock should not even be showing up unless you are using some app to purposefully keep the phone awake or something. You must have a rogue app.

Yeah, I'm really suspicious about maybe some rogue apps run behind but no way to find out. maybe it's Viber or Whatsapp since it's always require internet connection to receive message. ... I would love to find a way to remove the bloat-software :crying: .. they ate half memory of the 8Gb Razr M, only 4.1 Gb Usable

does betterbatterystats work on this phone? I use this on my S3 to find out what's keeping phone from deepsleep. Then you can find out which apps are keeping it up.
It's not whatsapp - I use that as well and I get 1-2 full days on a charge.
You've got a lot of apps running in your notification tray (top left) - I'd pull them all out... or better yet, FDR and don't opt to restore your Google config then start over.
Unless you want to list every app you have installed those are my recommendations.

I have the very same issues, but only on GSM as soon as I am on Wifi battery life is excellent. I am using a German SIM card (in Germany) which works well (except of mobile hot spot). So I am suspecting some internal service looking for a Verizon service, which it obviously cannot find. Any thoughts?

Go into your dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* then hit the "phone information button" then scroll down to something that says "network types"or something along those lines and choose the "wdcma preferred" option. That might stop it from looking for vzw networks.

Thanks for the hint. But that does not solve the problem. I have installed juicedefender, which in its default setting seems to solve the problem. The battery life with juicedefender seems eternal . However, the phone is less "reactive" to email pushes etc.
I am getting the pro version of juicedefender, perhaps I can get down to the root.

My gf is having the same problem with her M. GSam said GMaps was wakelocked-looped...woke the thing 1,271 times in the 8 hours she had it unplugged. Auto-location reporting was turned on (wtf), switched it off but it kept dropping. ~10 hours off the cord with maybe 30 minutes use and it was at 6%. We'll see what happens tomorrow, but any ideas are much appreciated. I know more info is needed but it's kind of hard to pry into unrooted phones...we'll see.
I had the same problem two days ago. Two words for you... FAST DORMANCY (google it). Thats the culprit and is very telling with the first picture showing the phone is awake constantly when wifi is off and mobile data is on... you can test it yourself, compare battery drop rate with mobile data on and with wifi on.
Solution
1. Root phone, unfortunately you have to.
2. Download titanium backup
3. Freeze modemstatservice
4. Freeze fastdormancy.

Can you explain why titanium backup is needed?
I stopped the modemstatservice and fastdormancy services. Hope that works. I actually did a factory reset and thought for a short moment that it has improved, but that's not the case. I can stay a whole day with quiet a lot of browsing on Wifi and us up 20%. On 3G I drain 25% in 4h
So I bought titanium backup, freezed modemstatservice and fastdormancy.
No change in battery drain. I would like to know if all the other who have the same problem are running on a verizon SIM.
Until now nothing has worked. Under normal usage, I get a flat battery in about 16h. Normal means 2calls (<3min) and perhaps 5min of browsing.
I am having the same issue - coming from a Thunderbolt I am still happy with the battery as it is but if the wake lock could be resolved the battery would be awesome...
Not sure what is causing the gtalk spike as I removed that app...
ETA: running Jelly Bean leak & rooted... I also reflashed the leak wiping data, etc... with no change

Sorry to hear that this fix didnt work for you. Could you provide more info regarding your network and if possible some screenshot of betterbatterystats or something similar. Maybe *#*#4360#*#* > battery information might give me more information with regards to your problem.
Also, if you want to do really help eliminate more variables, try using ur phone on 3G without installing any apps.

Maybe uninstalling gtalk and leaving an apk is causing the spike since it is trying to sync. Why not leave it on, also try reducing email refresh time to 1hr as oppose to the default (15 mins). Your battery life seems reasonable.
Wake Lock Questions:
Anyone know what the bam.dmux.wakekock is for? It says it's for a power management system but I don't know what that's supposed to do.
Also the Ssmdcnt10 wake lock?
Those are the two that are running on my phone and both are running like 36 minutes since I unplugged my phone this morning. Is this bad or is it something that I could allow to continue happening? Thx!

I froze mine and so far it has improved and I'm running the jellybean leak with root; HOWEVER my battery still drains fast and when I was on ICS my battery life was amazing so I'm actually probably going to revert back to that tomorrow. I fed the jellybean leak since it came out early last week and tried everything that I know to increase battery life but nothing works.

I just bought a droid razr m xt907 refurbished off ebay. I'm currently running it on the Telus network up in Canada. Everything works fine, I can receive calls and text messages just fine. My only problem is that whenever I'm connected to Telus or disconnected from all networks, I get three wakelocks that hold the phone awake sucking the battery. If I'm in airplane mode the three wakelocks disappear, the phone can sleep and I get excellent battery life. The wakelocks are called smdcntl0, smdcntl1, and radio-interface. In case it is relevant, I'm on 3G all the time since Telus doesn't run a 2G network. I've tried switching basebands and that didn't change anything, the wakelocks also follow me no matter which rom I use, I get the same wakelocks on stock 4.1.2, on aokp 4.2.2, and on carbon rom. Also, if anyone has a copy of the australian non-hlos.bin, I would like to try that to see if it helps.
If anybody has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

judging from your 3rd screenshot, looks like your phone is having trouble holding onto a signal.
try a custom kernel.

Flashing aokp (which has a different kernel) really helped with the reception, I've gone from 2/3 bars to a consistent 4, thanks. The phone still won't deep sleep though.
I have same problem on stock since first day i have Razr M.
Many wakelocks when screen is off, but this doesn't drains battery.

get cpuspy and check after a full day. there is also an app called CPU Sleeper which will help.
however, if your battery is not draining, then I would not tweak anything.

then there really is no problem, right?
My battery still drains, the wakelocks are still there, I just get better reception. My cpu spends all of its time at 384mhz.

here's what I suggest. get the CPUSpy app (free on the market). charge the phone to 100%, refresh the timers in the CPUSpy app (or reboot the phone). then, over the course of the day, check back in the app to see if the phone has hit the deep sleep mode.
if not, then try the Greenify app to hibernate some apps that you suspect could be causing the issue.

They're kernel wakelocks, those aren't caused by apps. They also disappear when I go onto airplane mode so I think it has something to do with the modem. I actually have a log from betterbatterystats showing cpu states, it only deep sleeps for a few minutes if the phone's on all day.

then something's up with your kernel or modem. are you sure you are getting a strong signal? could also very well be the tower in your area (cell or mobile data)
I had some serious battery drainage when I tried to install an updated radio on an older kernel awhile back....

You need a full restore to stock. Then boot get everything working then do what you want.

So you did some kind of restore? What did you do exactly?
I ask cause your sw is a mess. Radio is new. Sys is old.

Google “android system battery drain" it comes up with a lot of things. Download BetterBatteryStats click on other than click on partial wakelocks. Its some of your wakelocks that's causing the android system to drain the battery. With BetterBatteryStats it tells you which of those wakelocks is causing it and you can disable them.

finding alot of "answers" but none of which I think are the problem. I've attached a couple screenshots to show what is causing the wakelocks, not real sure what they are tho. this battery drain only happens when I leave wifi off, if wifi is on everything is perfect.
How strong is your phone's signal? If it does a lot of searching it'll use a lot of battery. With Wi-Fi off your apps will still try to connect to the internet. Face book I'd your biggest wake lock. Do you really need that to be trying to sync?

my signal is almost always full bars with lte. I wouldn't think that one app would cause such a battery drain, even facebook. but no it's not that important, I can turn that off to see if it makes a difference. what about "AlarmManager" & "ActivityManager-Launch"?
edit: what I don't understand is this.. even with facebook on, whether it's syncing with wifi or my data connection it's wakelocking, so why such a huge difference when wifi is disabled and it's using my data connection instead?
I don't think facebook is the problem, I installed the other ge rom (clean&slim) and am having the same issue when wifi is disabled, and I haven't installed any apps except for es file explorer and nova launcher. I don't remember a problem with this on stock touchwiz. I have safestrap and goldeneye running on my girlfriends phone and the android system using battery when wifi is disabled isn't a problem.

If you're in an LTE border area your connection may be connecting in and out with LTE bands frequently causing the battery drain, as wifi is usually more stable. Generally the cause of battery drain is due to google services wakelocking the phone. Do you have Greenify downloaded? It's pretty nifty for hibernating apps, causing them to be completely shutdown until opened; preventing wakelocks. If you get the donate version you can even hibernate system apps (google services, etc). I doubt it's ROM related, but you can try another ROM and compare with BetterBatteryStats.

thanks for the info. I've tried both google edition roms but like I said.. this wasn't an issue on stock touchwiz and it's not an issue on my girlfriends phone running safestrap and goldeneye (we have the same phone). I do have greenify and I've added play music and maps to it as I noticed they would always run in the background. I also noticed in running apps under google services (with wifi disabled) something was running called locationmanager or similar to that. I had all location services turned off tho. I always have full lte service so I'm not sure why it would be going in and out.
Check your kernel wakelocks, your partial wakelocks seems not a big deal, actually on that screenshot IMO facebook is behaving very well.

I just unplugged my phone so I'm waiting for updated battery stats. I'm almost positive it has nothing to do with any apps that I've installed. I have greenified alot of apps, and turned off some receivers in google services framework (mostly gtalk stuff) I also did the stuff in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357417. I'm going to wait awhile to see if there's any improvement, then I was going to try adding some build.prop entries that I used on my LG Optimus L9, a couple are for saving power when the phone is asleep and helping the phone sleep better, and there is an entry to limit how often your wifi will scan. they seemed to help on the lg.
I live in a poor service area and I like to control my WiFi and data on off with juice defender or creative connections I think its called. Helps me a lot. May not solve your prob but might make things easier on you. There is also an app called LTE toggle that makes a on/off widget for LTE. Hope it helps if you try it.

so is this an issue other people have using google edition roms and having wifi disabled? this doesn't happen with stock touchwiz or even stock touchwiz roms so I'm not understanding what the problem could be. I shouldn't have to use another app to stop battery drain just because I don't have wifi enabled

I can't think of anything you haven't already thought of that could cause those issues. I love greenify also but is it possible you greenified an app that is fighting it and trying to connect? I've done that but not es bad as you are seeing. Those apps were a thought to make your life a little easier by not working about WiFi on here and off there. They work good for me for that issue. You probably won't like this but I'm running foxhound 2.0 with faux and killjoy/ccross breeder script and I have a hard time hitting 50% battery after 15 hours off the charger. I have to really game or to a lot to go below that. I also debloat heavily. I havent tried your Roms yet but I had similar results on Alpha ROM. I'll think about it some more though.

You probably won't like this but I'm running foxhound 2.0 with faux and killjoy/ccross breeder script and I have a hard time hitting 50% battery after 15 hours off the charger. I have to really game or to a lot to go below that. I also debloat heavily. I havent tried your Roms yet but I had similar results on Alpha ROM. I'll think about it some more though.

I tried foxhound and I liked it but the black theme was just too black for me and I don't really like the touchwiz theme. I love the google edition roms. and no at first I flashed a clean ge rom and didn't install any apps at all and I still had the problem. I've also installed ge roms from the i9505 forum and also had the problem. with wifi on I get atleast 2 days on a full charge and about 4 hours of screen on time.
I would suggest do the following charge up to 100% not 90% like your second post. after 100% charge, do a reboot when the phone boots again remove the charger and let it sit untouched for at least 4 hours preferably 8 hours. Then on better battery stats take a screenshot of "Other/unplugged" lets see how much the phone is awake and deep sleep, then take a screenshot of Kernel Wakelocks/unplugged and also partial wakelocks/unplugged
at first I didn't notice that on you second screenshot your stats are for 8% period 90% - 82% and that is a 1%/hr battery drain, is actually pretty good, sure not excellent but there are some that loose 2%/hr
I'm having the same problem with the ge ROM. Battery life seems to go quicker than stock touchwiz. As I like the GE roms interface and things you can do with it just hate the battery life.

How much time are you getting of deep sleep and how much awake in a 8 hr period ?
Do you have exchange mail enabled? Sometimes I have the same problem with my battery life and that is the issue

are you having the problem with wifi enabled and disabled? I only have the problem when my wifi is turned off, with wifi on I get great battery life with this rom
here's what I added to my build.prop last night and it seems to have fixed the 'android system' battery drain. it's back down to 2% now with wifi off and lte enabled.

Is there a way I can officially know if I have a bad battery on my LGG2? When I had purchased the phone, I never really took interest in it because of it's battery life, but after hearing that it has a great battery life I thought mine was lacking. I hear people having it go for two days without a charge. Yet mine was being charged once a day or more at least. I had batterydoctor installed, and when I had it, it would say I got about 22 hours or so normally. Then 17 or so.
I took the phone to the AT&T service center to get a replacement as I felt as if the battery was bad. Yet after getting the new one, I feel as if I'm having the same problem or even worse.
I'm still getting below 20 hours, and the battery seems to die faster than expected. I do not do a lot on my phone as it is. I had previously only had BatteryDoctor control the CPU, but I purchased SetCPU to get a bit better control on my CPU. I read push notifications was more efficient than 15 minute intervals, so I set those on my email apps. I don't have a lot of widgets, or even more than two. My screen brightness is usually below half.
Am I just plagued with a bad battery, or am I doing somethings wrong here? Anymore I can do?
Along the lines of this, is there a list of what bloatware apps I can uninstall from the LGG2? I had uninstalled a lot, but I'm not really sure what is still safe or unsafe to uninstall.
The built in battery manager as of now expects my battery to last around 6-8 hours, while battery doctor says 15 hours.
You can't uninstall anything that your system needs unless you're rooted and using an application manager to uninstall, such as Titanium Backup. If you're removing apps from the stock app page, you'll be fine to remove anything that is removable.
I'm sure your battery is fine, but you didn't give us any hard proof of what's going on. Go into your Settings and check the Battery section after the phone is down to about 50% or so. My guess is, that Google Services will be the main battery culprit, with Screen somewhere behind it.
If Google Services is what's chewing through your battery, you're not alone. The easiest way to fix the issue right now is to disable Google's Location Services.
If that's not what's causing your problem, please report back here with more info and we'll try to get you sorted out.

I am aware I can't uninstall anything my system needs, but I am not aware of what my system needs and does not need. I know of the obvious bloatware applications, so I uninstalled those. As for other things, I am not sure of. I would like to get rid of any unneeded apps that I will not use or have no use for as much as possible. And my device is rooted. And I do use Titanium Backup.
Sorry about that, I'm not good at explaining things most of the time. I'm not really sure as of what proof is needed. Though I have checked before. Google Services seems to come up often. Android System is the second I usually see as well. Screen usually comes into third or lower. I will disable the Location Services and see how things work out.

As far as debloating goes, I recommend installing a modified stock ROM, such as Malladus. That way you don't have to compile a list of things that can or can't be removed.
If my previous fix doesn't work, try downloading an app such as Better Battery Stats ($2.89) or Wakelock Detector (free). They will tell what's keeping your phone awake.
And then you can use an app like Greenify to prevent specific pesky apps from waking your phone and causing massive battery drain. You can use Greenify to stop Google apps as well, but it will prevent notifications from all of their apps. For example, instead of disabling Location Services on my phone, I prevented Google Maps and Google Play Services from causing wakelocks. Which worked great to keep my battery running, but it also prevented Google Voice from notifying me of new text messages and the Play Store wouldn't do automatic updates. Still, if you can live without these features, that might be another option for you until Google gets their stuff fixed.

I will give it some thought on using either a modified or custom ROM. I have not yet tried that with any phone I have had before because I'm afraid that normal phone functions might not work. That and I did not have too much experience in messing with ROMs, but I have now done so on my tablets. Though I might still look for a list just in case.
I will look into these two apps to see how they might work and if they will be any benefit. I have heard of a couple other apps to try and extend the battery life as well.
I might look into Greenify as well. It sounds like it could have its use, but I'm not sure I would really use it as such. I did enjoy using Google Now, but I used it mostly for the weather. I can get any other random weather app and probably be just as fine. I don't think I ever used Location Services for anything else other than Google Now or Maps. Which if I need to use the GPS, I can turn it on once again.
Is using such apps like SetCPU a good idea? Or does that make things worse?

and as always i guess with most battery related problems it happened suddenly and i really mean suddenly the day before yesterday everything was perfectly fine and i didn't have that ridiculous battery drain !!
i woke up yesterday only to find out that Android OS is taking more than 50% of battery usage with a drain like 20% over night
restarted many times and by the end of the day i installed GSAM and WLD (wakelock detector)
froze most of apps including the ones i installed recently but i didn't install that battery hog apps (nothing unusual) and also they didn't appear in partial wakelocks section of BBS
btw i don't use any fake battery extender tools or memory boosters it's just Greenify
i observed that sometimes when i unlock my device (i use knock code btw if that matter!!) wifi gets disconnected and reconnect again (wifi icon disappear and re-appear again in 3 secs or so)
i'll upload ss in a couple of mins

Little more details about rom,kernel but wifi is destroying your battery,that is for sure. It's waking the phone thousands of time as you can see yourself

This has started for me today also! Not sure what is causing it but I was fine prior to today. Maybe its a google Play services update?

I have at 80% the same problem, I loose 7-10% of battery per hours, without SIM, wifi, bluetooth...
I already tried most of all roms, kernel, try all cpu governor.

yea almost identical problem
i did tot reinstall and see how things go !!
sadly nothing changed and wifi still eats huge amount of battery idk how did this happen

I had the same problem with battery drain(although not as severe) along with huge data consumption when using a significantly modified(i.e. heavy debloat and ota disabled) rooted stock rom. I tried a few customs roms and dorimanx kernel(not at the same time), and even though battery drain wasn't as bad, they were are waaaay to buggy to be used everyday(especially the dorimanx kernel, it's really bad).
Just last week I tot back to KK and ota updated to the latest LP rom(lost root unfortunately). Then I uninstalled/disabled every app I could/needed. Everything is very fast, smooth, and stable again. I now lose 1-2% every 8hrs in standby with syncing and wifi/data enabled, bluetooth and nfc disabled. I regularly get 5-6hrs sot over 48hrs with moderate use and brightness on auto.
I do have a new battery though - my old one( came with my "refurbished" phone from freedompop) gave me 2-3hrs of sot - but that was when I first got it and before I started modifying anything.

How is dorimanx kernel bad? How many user downloads he has,lots and lots then are we thousands of user wrong using a bad kernel, come on . Maybe it didnt work for you. But out of those thousands of users cant be wrong. If it was that bad no one would download. Just saying , you should just say it didnt work for you.

My G2 (vs980) has also been suffering from a sudden battery drain. Android OS and Android System seem to be the problem. They are now second and third on the list of battery usage, after the screen. Before now, they were never that high on the list. I noticed this last weekend, when I kdz to the latest update for the vs980, which is 3AA. After noticing this, I flashed the xceed kernel, then cloudy with dorimanx kernel, and the battery drain continued. I even kdz back to kitkat, still the same, then I flashed AICP 11, and still the same battery drain by Android OS and system. Finally, I restored a backup of stock lollipop 39A but, the issue continued so I turned on airplane mode and it seems to help a bit. I still notice battery life isn't the same as before. The os and system still drain more than usual even on airplane mode.
Kind of glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue. I don't think I need a new battery, since I bought the phone new in April 2015 from Bestbuy.
Also Gsam, shows the temperature of phone between 80°-90°F, where before it would be in the low to mid 70s. One time, it even got up to 104°F, funny thing is, it doesn't even feel that hot in my hand.
Hopefully, we can find out what's causing this because I really liked the battery life on this phone. Even when people complained about the battery life being worse on 5.0.2, I was pretty happy with it. All my previous phones can't compare to the g2. Now I feel like upgrading though lol.

When I tried the version that was out a month or two ago it wasn't nearly as smooth as stock, even after conservatively messing with the kernel app settings. The worst was that it also cut out tethering and my flashlight when the screen shut off. Maybe the recent updates have fixed some of the issues, but I doubt it. Could be that he doesn't have access to the sprint variant which I have...
Either way, just because 'thousands' of people use it doesn't necessarily mean that it's good - 99.9% of those users have no idea how to code or how a kernel is written. Their knowledge goes as far as following picture guides online - which a 5 years old could do. Just look at the most recent change log - those 'fixes' were to glaringly huge problems that shouldn't have been made in the first place and people were blissfully using it the whole time. Think about how many thousands of other bugs their must be. Not to mention hacking up code made by professionals at huge companies could lead to many other problems. Obliviously the stock kernel has bugs as well, but it works and is fast and stable so I see no need for using a hacked together kernel made by one amateur that doesn't even have my version of the phone to test it on. I wanted it to be good - which Is why I went to the trouble of installing it, but it's definitely NOT.

I uninstalled ALL of the stock apps that can be uninstalled. The ones I disabled are aosp keyboard, app updates, browser, calendar, cloud print, favorite contact widget, google play books, games, movies & tv, newstand, google+, lg voice command speech pack, music, music(the widget - it always runs in the background even without being on the homescreen), notebook, polaris viewer, quicktranslator, swype, talkback, voice command. I would have liked to disable a few more but I'm not rooted so I couldn't.
I use nearly all of the google products like chrome,gmail, calendar, docs, keep, music, photos, news and weather,translate,etc...so having the stock lg ones enabled was redundant. I also only have the bare minimum of installed apps that I need. Nearly all of them are made my major corporations i.e Chase, BofA, ebay, paypal, freedompop, microsoft, swiftkey etc. I have NO games or any small apps that need a ton of permissions. The only small apps are feedly, print hammermill, privacy flashlight(240kb, no ads, no permissions) and bubble level(180kb, no ads, no permissions).
I also go through every settings in every app to make sure it's what I want. And I restart my phone every time I take it off the charger. IMO having a clean and no frills system that is set correctly is the key to performance and battery life.
I just want want to clarify that I average 4-5hrs per 1% in standby since it doesn't seem to hold as well as it gets closer to 0%.

i hoped moded kernels would've reduced that amount as they should have necessary drivers for wifi which was somehow got messed up but from your reply i guess i've to look somewhere else

1st of all in most cases neither the device nor it's battery are at fault *you need to understand that*
faulty battery doesn't show up kernel related wakelocks instead they drain without a reason so i hope ppl stop accusing battery in every battery drain thread!
2nd after understanding that you'll have to deal with the environment your phone is used in
to put it simple it's your router and all devices in your current network !! (idk though why not all devices get affected by that or why it just started now, tough luck yea)

i thought to share what i did so far and before i go on there is a bad news and a good news !!
i would start with the bad news first !
-no rom could solve this issue so you don't really need to format everything and start from scratch especially if you didn't mess around too much and you found it started suddenly like here, i've tried couple of roms including latest CM13 build it wasn't that bad but it didn't solve the drain that much either !!
-now some ppl may see this bad and some may don't care (which means good!!) google services are the ones responsible for this drain
well man you didn't come up with anything new and i see you've got a problem getting straight to the point besides you talk too much
i'm sorry
now you have to sacrifice your google services background sync including "GCM" if you are using any services similar to pushbullet or notification mirroring you'd understand why it's important
anyway if you are good with that you may install and yea it works with latest google play services

and do as instructions (and believe it'll work if you did steps right)
if you prefer manual way then you'll need "app ops xposed module" and deactivate every "wake up" permission from google services
this guide may help but remember we don't have tools natively in our roms so don't bother downloading "shortcut maker" and go through your settings app to find "privacy guard" or "app ops" we don't have those natively like them

and i'm using lollipop now so i guess it's not that bad for what i heard about bad lollipop battery since it's my first time trying it !!
and btw real SOT should be +40 mins so the real SOT is 2H-47M cuz i restarted my phone to apply that fix and for some reason battery stats doesn't stick between reboots !!
if anyone interested in trying that rom it's for D800 only btw and thx to @Swetnes for his work rom feels pretty stable and solid :good:
