Try using a 3rd party app. I've read problems with unlocked s4's and tethering but I don't know about that carrier.

Your welcome. Not really a solution for you but at least its a workaround.

Interesting, so USA stock ROM has "Portable WiFi Hotspot" missing?? Never knew that.
Even if USA stock ROM and non-rooted you could still google for the tethering app .apk file and install using app installer/ES File Manager/Astro File Manager.
Well sideloading is so easy so i dont see why there kickin up a fuss

Actually it is there, it just won't turn on. Says SIM not provisioned for Tethering.
Unless you change APN's or run a custom ROM.

I tried it on my galaxy s3 using t-mobile hot spot and it kept redirecting my me to sign up for the hot spot plan. However, I did use a different WiFi router app and was able to tether. I am rooted btw.
Tether did not work with my S3, but does with my G2 and current S2's Did not get a chance to try a different rom on the S3 before sale tho so not sure about that.

Probably a stupid question on XDA, but are you rooted and running custom roms on your S2s? I'm interested if anyone has tried this on stock firmware with one of thee non-root tethering apps. I would test myself but I can't remember the last time I had a phone with stock firmware.

Yep I used both the s2 and s3 sucessfully.....
There is also another topic explaining another method of replacing ur apn in the general subforum of the tmobile s3
As for the s2 there is threads for apns and then for user agents
Live throws a code stating that some items may not be available but playing and netflix green light
Updates you have to dl on ur pc then transfer it to ur xbox by disc, etc storage medium
I have also changed my dns servers but I can still use tmobiles dns and do both
I use to have a full live experience until the last 360 update and now something borked....nebody have ideas? Lol
So I should have no problem using my sensation as a hotspot to power my roku box to stream Netflix to my t.v. right? Thanks!!!

Calling all Vodafone UK user's on a custom rom.

Hi guys, as the title suggests; those who are with Vodafone UK and using custom roms please reply.
Okay, since I changed to a custom rom (AOSP, CM10.1) I can no longer access YouTube via the application and over 3G. WiFi works fine.
The error is constantly, 'Connection to server lost.'
There's a thread over on the Vodafone forums, ( http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Samsung-Galaxy-S3/YouTube-not-working-over-3G-HSDPA/td-p/1300174)
A user went into extensive testing as you can see. He has come up with the reason (as we believe,) is due to a mismatch in the links which are generated.
This works with every other Network, it's just a Vodafone issue with custom rom's.
It's apparently an issue with the roms, (so Vodafone say personally, I think they're passing the blame around.
If any user's are experiencing this issue, please reply. Any user's who have some insight / idea, please reply.
This has been an ongoing issue on all my Android devices which I've flashed with custom roms.
Many thanks!

I am running 4.1.2 (swedish) standard rom but rooted.
I am on vodafone contract, with the default APN being "Vodafone Contract Internet" i.e. wap.vodafone.co.uk
Switching off wifi and firing up youtube allows me to watch a video, so I conclude that the stock rom is OK.

Have never used it...I believe you can call a person with the same device..while on the call..you both hit the chat an whola...I could be wrong...sounds good though
Anyone..rebuttal?
I have that option as well. Doesn't work for me. I've only tried calling through a few different carriers, one AT&T (stock GS3) the other being Verizon (HTC DNA, custom ROM unknown which one). Both failed to call after what seemed like an attempt. I'm on Golden Eye 3.0 with KT kernel.

My best guess is it is the SAME as when I ran custom ROMs on previous Galaxy Series phones with ported from international series firmware. We would have the video call button but ATT doesn't allow video calling so it never worked. It is something that ATT blocks so it will never work. You can find threads in the Galaxy S2 I777 threads and Galaxy S1 Captivate threads on how to remove the video call icon from the .apk's and resize the layout so it doesn't have the icons out of shape/place. Unfortunately until ATT let's us call over data it will never work.

Unfortunately since it is NOT built into our phones firmware automatically (removed/changed thanks to ATT firmware) we could not use the same tactics the iPhone people used and have it cleared for use.
But there are other apps that we can use from the play store and have video over cellular signal. But the catch is you have to be rooted and use something like gTalk enabler or change a setting in the build.prop for it to work. You can try apps like Google Talk/Hangouts, Skype, Tango for video calling over the cell signal. I have used Google Talk and Tango.
