Has anyone tried the stock encryption with android (4.2 and above possibly?)?
I'm wanting to encrypt my phone but I've heard it can slow it down, which is obvious, bit is it notecebly slower?
In order to remove encryption for good on the device, do you need to factory restore?

On my Galaxy Nexus I didn't notice a slow down and yes the only way to remove it is a factory reset.

Does it acctually remove or overwrite the data so it can't be accessed no matter what or does it just delete and leave it so someone that knows how could retrieve the data?
nope it wipes everything like if u was gonna resell it nothing exist after that procedure so make a backup of what u need cause its gonna get formatted
As title suggests, I'm considering selling this lovely device. Though I may get it again in the future, I'm only selling it so I can get a dam, phone, been phone less for about 2 years now because darn monthly plans are too expensive.
Anyway, my question is. How do I ensure my device is safe to sell? Meaning, I need to make sure I delete everything on this device and ensure nothing of my personal data or cache is left behind. Does factory reset get that job done? Or is there more steps and procedures I should follow?
My Nexus 7 is also rooted and unlocked.

Flash a stock image, where most things will be wiped. I'm not sure about /sdcard though, you may need to do that manually. Once back on a fresh stock image, re-lock the bootloader.
What if the customer wants it rooted and unlocked? Factory wipe and move sd card contents to my computer, will that do?

Factory data reset if they want it unlocked and rooted they can do it them selves

I'm thinking about selling the phone and wanted to wipe everything. Can someone tell me a way if its possible without the touch screen being responsive.

Erm, yes, it's possible but it depends where you can get to. If you can get it into fastboot then you can reflash the stock rom and relock the bootloader.
That'll format the internal partition and obviously make it look OEM. That said, you not thinking of fixing/RMA'ing?
unlocking the bootloader will wipe everything. then relock it.

Nexus Toolkit, Lock/Unlock Bootloader
You want it going back locked.
I encrypted my N4, and now I can't undo it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sorry if it sounds noob-ish.

Tried that. Factory reset, wiped data, sys, boot, davlik, cache, everything. Still encrypted when i flash a new rom

PS, Both ROM and TWRP ask for encryption password after wiping and flashing.

I have a feeling that this is what's preventing me from using Ubuntu

No, you just do a full wipe in TWRP. It's called format data, no way you can miss such a big button: http://cloud.addictivetips.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/TWRP-Recovery-Wipe.jpg
I 'm having a problem with a Note 3 Keyboard that I did not ever install. It keeps coming back. I think it's embedded in my phone somehow. I've tried wiping everything with factory reset, both from the ROM and recovery. I've used PIT files with firmware, and I have used the file manager in TWRP to wipe out as much as possible. However when I lboot up, I still find files with older dates on them from like a week ago. How does anythign stay behind? I don't understand this and I want this B.S. app off of my phone. It's not a legit app. Samsung told me there is was never a note 3 keyboard OTA for any model of S4 and that it should not be there. Can someone tell me how to really get my device back to 100$% OEM standards please!
I need help. This note 3 keyboard is eating my battery. It used to last all day, now I have to charge it two or three time a day. Please tell me how to truly wipe my device back to OEM. Thanks.
Backup what you need from internal. Wipe internal SD card and Odin back to stock unrooted.
