[Q] Probably bricked nexus 4 ? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so im working on a friends nexus 4 , after a few complications trying to install rom , which is rare for me and is easy , the phone wouldnt get past the boot animation , i tried flashing stock , everything passes with a success but still gets stuck at the boot animation , twrp gives:
mount: unable to find partition for path "/sdcard"
unmount: unable to find partition for path "/sdcard"
updating partition details . . .
E: unable to mount "/cache" <Says this 4 times>
Done.
Updating partition details . . .
Starting ADB sideload . . .
i tried to use sideload in twrp but it doesnt go anywhere , i figured if i couldnt flash stock through bootloader , i might aswell try adb sideload , but its a no-go.
any input would be helpful on this , and im willing to try anything to revive this guy's phone . thanks in advance.
by the way i do have NRT installed and up to date , and my android sdk and drivers are good to go , like i said this is a problem i haven't encountered on my n4

i was able to install CWM through the bootlaoder and get into adb sideload , ill update this post with results.

So you used a toolkit to flash stock? Try doing it manually using this guide.

If your phone registers as 8 GB when it's a 16 GB device you need to reset to factory within Android. This is a bug in Android 4.3.

Chromium_ helped me solve the storage size problem , but the current problem is for some reason the phone won't mount to the computer or detect adb , even with USB debugging enabled and everything .

[Q] HELP!! I wiped my whole N7 in recovery.

Hi all!!
I have a huge problem i think.
Yesterday is was rooting my device, and i was about to start flashing a custom rom.
What happened is that in the proces of wiping dalvik cache etc. I by accident wiped the whole system!
So now if i want to reboot, recovery gives the error that there is no OS is installed. If i reboot my nexus 7 keeps hanging in the startup screen wich only displays Google...
It still can reboot in recovery or bootloader, but i cant figure out how to recover. I tried with 2 toolkits, but no succes! I made a nandroid backup but this doesnt work either.
Also i tried several solutions but none of them helped.
Does someone know how i can get my N7 to work again?? :crying:
Wugfresh's toolkit allows you to flash the stock image from the bootloader. Just make sure you check the box that states you cantvpower the device up.
Mskips toolkit, chose the option to flash Google image, it will download, and flash for you, if not your doing it wrong, push comes to shove your going o have to download a custom ROM and use adb to to push it on to your nexus 7 then fire up cwm and lash the rom, your nandroid will be gone unless you took it off/copied to a PC before you messed up.

I tried all those things named above with both toolkits..
When i try to flash to stock it keeps hanging at some point, or i get errors. What am i doing wrong?
I will try again what jordaanooo mentioned.. hope this time it will work.
If it doesn't work, does it help to post some screenshots with the error i get, or where it gets stuck??
Yeah, try it, make sure you state you cant boot it, and tell us what parts it stops/fails at
SMH dont use toolkits -_- so you're saying you "could" get into recovery? Why didnt you just adb push a rom
Code:
adb push name-of-rom.zip /data/media
Then flash that rom?

pretty simple. if you know how to use adb then you just need to just a ROM to apply. wether it be the stock or a custom. once you know what ROM, the easiest thing is to paste it into your adb folder (usually platform-tools) and just push it onto your sd card

I'm trying to flash to a stock rom at the moment with the wugfresh toolkit. it seems the process is stuck at the point where it is "sending 'system' to the device. it's "sending 'system'" for more than an hour now... is that ok?? or is there something going wrong?
the picture show's where it gets stucked
Fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-grouper3.34.img
Fastboot flash all nakasijroo3d.IMG w/e its called
Do you have cwm or twrp installed? If so you can mount the 7 like a mass storage device to your computer. This will give you access to the SD card where you can transfer a ROM from your computer to your tablet....I'm not sued where the setting is.....just go into your recovery and dig around....I think its under advanced...

I just checked...if u go under the mount setting. There's a USB mass storage option......def the easiest route....adb is easy ...if you know how to set it up right

If your phone is recognized try to push a rom that you can flash with TWRP through adb. Look here for how to do that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929.

64 bit and tried windows 8 too but the problem is larger than windows type or drivers or toolkit!
Mobile suddenly hunged and when reboot it stuck on GOOGLE and when i opened recovery it asked me password to decrypt data!
Then when i press cancel , recovery doesn't read any memory to install from it or backup or restore or or ...
I think internal memory damaged as i can't write on it neither read from it

Are you rooted? Are you on Stock Rooted ROM? OR Non Rooted? If you don't know these words and reading them first time..type no.

With no root, the only way to get rid of this bootloop is to factory reset, you can do it in recovery by pressing volume down + power at the same time, then you choose Recovery with the volume button. BUT you will loose everything ( pics, apps, etc. ).
But I hope that someone can give you another solution less "destructive".

Can he do a back up using ADB and then do a partial restoration after a factory reset?
Will adb backup work if the phone's not booting? .. I know that adb works when in a bootloop, but in the guide it shows a prompt to enter some encryption password ... I summon android wizards to answer this ...

Please reinstall drivers using @WugFresh 's Toolkit
And down to default font size please. It does nothing more to oversize this...
Also, you might wanna try out all your USB ports. For me fastboot/adb only works on some ports. Also while trying out the ports keep the device manager window open. This way you can easily see when and more importantly how the computer sees your phone.
