The `paying for an app`you refer to is a gratification and recognition to a dev who builds, develops and maintains that app for free for as long as you use it bro and that for a small price.

Without the devs who made some of these applications and mods, it would not even be possible adjust these settings, or have them at all !

Thanks for the suggestion...researching wave now, only skimmed, but it seems like this might be the next step, once we get the team together.
Any suggestions as far as the UI?

It might help to offer a quick description of what related skills you are bringing to the table. Not being rude just a suggestion. It might also help avoid the 60 or so post in this thread asking that very question.

Froyo to support animated gif

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3422#c151
See comment 151. I wonder why you need a lot of RAM for that. So I guess only the Nexus One and the Milestone and the future high end Android phones will be able to display animated gif.

5.0.6? And in the browser?
Does it support only in the browser? Or will it support it in the gallery too.
I always get those neat forwards...but they always show up as a video and it kind of sucks

The changelog for Cyanogen rom is here: http://github.com/cyanogen/android_vendor_cyanogen/blob/eclair/CHANGELOG
Looks like he took Google's source and added it to the browser, but it doesn't say anything about animated .gifs in mms's

Oh well i just remember I came from Cricket and a samsung messenger (I didn't need a smartphone back then) and it always looped the gif, and played it in the gallery. I kind of miss that lol.
They work perfectly in the browser. Don't know about just normal gallery..

I know, but there is really no negative effect other than voiding your warranty. Well, at least in my eyes. Cyanogen is a very trustworthy ROM distributor..

I rooted day one.
I will likely never run another rom other then the one from Google.
I played the whole rom game on Windows Mobile and it never made me happy.
I'm not doing it with my beautiful Nexus One

Then you shouldn't expect the updates at the same rate rooted owners get them, you get major updates fast compared to the likes of iPhone OS and Web OSs

Samsung TechTile NFC Tags

So my local Sprint store had some Samsung "TechTile" NFC tags to use with their app. So I bought some (15$ for 5 tags) and took them home, and immediatley erased them via nfc app on my phone, and reprogrammed them with the same app and it works like a charm. The thing that bugs me about the phone is having to unlock the home screen to scan NFC tags. which sucks but oh well.
Have you checked out the nfc screen off mods? Not sure if it works on the US Variant but check out the thread over at the S3 boards.

what are the offbrand ones called on amazon? do they program/work in the same way?
just type in nfc tags...i forget the brand but theres only like 2 choices. To answer your other question I think you just need an nfc programmer app

So, anytime you wanna charge the phone, it would open Maps and you would have to close the Maps?
More like you can tag it to turn on Bluetooth when you get in the car and turn it off when you get out. Or turn on wifi when you get home by scanning a tag on your front door.

Pardon me, but none of those activities are practical.
I'd like to turn on and off wifi when I enter and leave my home. But a Tasker script would be better.

Light years. No custom kernels without the bootloader being unlokced. Chances of that happening are somewhere between extremely slim and none.

Just because others haven't been successful doesn't mean this person won't get it done.
I seriously find it pretty retarded that we need an unlocked bootloader and then have to install a custom kernel JUST to change the damn gamma. wtf? Gamma setting should be standard on ALL devices.
I would go absolutely crazy if I couldn't control gamma on my desktop monitor... I've been doing that for years and years, I just can't understand why it's not a stock option on mobile devices. ???
